We'll Get Her Back
"Get your filthy hands off her Philip Hamilton!" My father yelled grabbing my arm.
"Dad what is going on!" I yelled. Alexander and Eliza began to walk over.
"I changed my mind and I decided to come to this party. Thought I could introduce you to some political figures you should know, only to find you kissing the Hamilton boy!" He screamed.
"Senator Burr, Sir, you allowed me to escort your daughter here. I don't see why you are so upset," Philip said.
"Don't be cocky with me young man. I know what guys like you do to girls like Theo. You promise them the world. The next thing you know you're skipping town to do the same thing to another girl!" My father yelled.
"I would never do that sir, especially to the precious Theo-" Philip began.
"YOU DO NOT CALL HER THEO! ONLY I CAN CALL HER THEO! SHE WILL NEVER BE YOUR PRECIOUS WIFE! IF I SEE YOU WITH HER AGAIN YOU'LL BE DEAD BEFORE THAT CLEVER LITTLE MOUTH OF YOURS CAN SAY A THING!" And with that my father dragged me out of the house.
The carriage ride back was quiet. I was on the verge of tears the whole way home. Finally I started sobbing.
"Sweetie what's wrong?" My father asked, grabbing my hand.
"You! That's what's wrong. I like Philip and you took him away from me!" I screamed.
"Oh honey it's ok. I've arranged for you to meet someone nice who can treat you much better than Philip can," he said as we pulled up to our house.
"But dad I like Philip. Why can't you understand that?" I asked as we walked up to the front door.
"Because he's the son of that bastard Alexander."
~Alexander's POV~
I knocked on Philip's door early that morning.
"Philip honey are you awake?" I asked in a quiet voice as to not wake up my other children. I could hear light sobs coming from the other side of the door.
"Just go away Pops ok!" Philip yelled. I slowly opened his bedroom door. He was sitting in his bed with his head in his hands. His hair was a mess. He slowly looked up at me. His face was bright red and a river of tears was flowing down his face. I quickly rushed to his side sitting on the bed. His head quickly fell in my lap.
"I-I think I love her Pops!" He wailed. "And I-I just ca-ca-can't bare the thought of her not being mine!" I slowly ran my fingers through his hair. That always calmed him down when he was a baby. I felt the tears slowing.
"Philip how do you know Theodosia is the one?" I asked. He picked up his head looking up at me.
"My heart beats faster whenever I'm near her. I can't stop smiling when I see her. My eyes are in pain because of her beauty and my brain hurts from trying to keep up with how fast and smart her mind is. And if that's not love then I don't know what is," Philip wailed.
"Philip that's the exact way I felt about your mother when I met her," I began "and if you feel the same way about Theodosia you should go after her."
"But Pops you hate Burr with all your heart, why would you let me date Theo!" He proclaimed.
"Because she's only 50 percent a Burr, she's 50 percent her mother," I said. Philip laughed. He lifted his head up. It's the first time I had really gotten a good look at his face. It was still bright red, but the tears had mostly stopped. His head fell on my shoulder and he began to cry again. I ran my fingers through his curls again.
"Philip tomorrow morning we are going to go get you a Theodosia."
~Theodosia's POV~
I woke up the next morning to a knock at my bedroom door. Last night felt like a nightmare.
"Come in!" I called. In walked our maid Molly. She was holding a folded lilac dress.
"Ms. Burr, your father would like you to wear this. He says he has someone special he'd like you to meet." I felt my eyes roll.
"Ok thank you Molly." Was all I could say. My face was still sticky from the river of tears I had cried last night. I quickly threw on the dress and put my hair in a quick messy bun. I didn't care what this person thought of me. As I ran down the stairs I saw Molly serving pancakes at the dining table to two men, one of which was my father and the other was in a bright magenta suit. They both turned around and stood up.
"Theodosia I would like you to meet your new husband," My father said. It was Thomas Jefferson.
