Surprise :)
Blake started at the empty flower stands, sweat dripping drown his brow. It was his first Valentine's day as a husband and he had already messed up. He didn't order the flowers ahead of time thinking he would be able to pick them out himself after work. However all of the flower shops were wiped clean and the grocery stores had nothing but the decaying old flowers that crumpled upon human touch.
Annoyed he pulled out his phone and began scrolling through the contacts. Finding who he was looking for he clicked the green button and closed his eyes.
"Hello?"
"I know you have flowers, how much? He asked annoyed that at it had come to that point.
"Well depends on what you want. I have lilies, roses, mixed bouque-"
"Anything that can ship overnight. I need them by tomorrow, three pm my time the latest." Blake stated walking down the street and back to his office away from the now closed shop.
"OK fine I'll have Mamma drive me to the airport in the morning. I'll text you the airline and claim number."
"Happy Valentine's day, sweetheart" Blake whispered as he wrapped his arms around a sleeping Emily. She mumbled in reply and turned to face away from him, wanting to continue with her sleep. Chuckling at her behavior he placed a kiss on her head before getting up to start the day, he was silently thankful Emily was not a morning person.
As soon as he left Emily let out a breath she was holding. She had wanted to wake up early and be the cliche wife than made her husband heart shaped pancakes before work, yet she had forgotten to set her alarm and by the time she woke up her own it was too late. Blake alway woke up at six thirty on the dot, alarm clock or not, it was something that she knew was never going to happen with her, but she still tried. Shrugging to herself she rolled over and when back to sleep she had a few hours before she needed to be in at the office.
Terminal: six
flight: four-eighteen
Claim number: 56S5411BT0-11
Blake waited patiently as the office worker finished looking over the paperwork and wondered why it was taking so long to give him a box of flowers.
"Your wife is a lucky lady Mr Redwood." The clerk stated with a smile. She had a faraway look in her eyes and it made Blake wonder if she was stable enough to do the job and if she fantasized about everything that came in through the terminal.
"Thank you, but it's me who is lucky enough to have her around. And getting her some flowers is the least I can do for her." He replied with a fake smile hoping she would hurry up.
The clerk laughed at his mention some flowers and mumbled something under her breath that sounded like "rich people" but Blake wasn't sure, he was to anxious to pay anything much mind. Even the large wooded crate that was being unloaded onto a small cart. A cart that was wheeled by two workers and left next to the office door.
"Allright, so I just need a signature here and initial on here. And this is for you. Do you need help carrying it out to your car?" She asked as Blake rolled up the papers and placed them inside her suit pocket. He paused his movement confused as to why he would need help with some flowers.
The clerk didn't reply and instead walked around the desk and out the door, Blake hot on her heels. They stood in front of the crate and he understood what had taken so long. The box was huge. At that moment his phone indicated a new message.
I didn't know what to send you so I sent one of each. Also mom said to tell you that she emailed you a reservation since you probably forgot about that too. Old age does tends to do that to peogdwlwyutraaaa
Blake laughed at the message, and was more than sure that Daliah had read the old age part of his text and had tried to erase it. And was also great full that someone remember the dinner part of the day.
"Sir?" The clerks voice made him look up from his phone and at his surroundings once more.
"Uhhh, no thank you I can wheel it out myself. Do I leave the cart out by the front?" He asked going to the front of trolley and giving it a slight push. The wheel groaned in protest and he rolled his eyes. Leave it to a Kenny to put water in the buckets.
"Yes, there's an area for them by the entrance. Have a great day sir" the clerk cheered before entering her small office once more. Blake mumbled a string of curses as he pushed the cart to the entrance where his car was still waiting.
Upon seeing his boss pushing a large box John jumped out of his seat and ran over to his employer.
"Just open the back door. We can slide it onto the back seat, unless you want to help carry it and put it in the trunk" Blake ordered, he watched as his driver placed his jacket over the leather to give it some protection against the wooden crate, following suit Blake took of his blazer and handed it John, who placed it on the the seat. Once the crate was inside the two men made their way back to the office building.
"Blake, what more is there? Dinner was amazing, I can't ask for anything more tonight" A blindfolded Emily whined as Blake guided her through their apartment suite.
He stopped at their door and peeked inside making sure everything was still in place, once he had visual confirmation he pulled her in along with him.
"Just one last thing, Sweetheart, and I promise to let you sleep in tomorrow" He promised knowing how much of a morning person his wife really was. His words put an instant smile on her face and her demeanor instantly changed into that of an excited child waiting for dessert.
Walking over the stand behind her, Blake guided Emily to the crate that was now adorned with a large bow. He stopped and undid the knot of the blindfold, taking a step to the side so he could see her face when she opened her gift.
Confused she looked up at him with a raised brow. He shrugged and motioned for the box with his hands. He watched as she struggled with the lid, and laughed when she squealed upon seeing the contents. A smile made its way onto his face as she ignored the flowers and picked up the sleeping dog that John had placed in there minutes before their arrival.
"Oh my goodness I love him so much!" She screamed throwing herself at Blake. The puppy didn't seem to enjoy being sandwiched and began whining. Emily took a step back and put the pup down smiling as it ran around the room and flopped down on some of Blake's shoes.
"I have something for you too" She smiled running into the closet. Blake stared after her and looked at the pup who was watching him with curious eyes, most likely wondering where the other human had dissapered to.
Both of their questions where answered when Emily reappeared in a very short, very sheer, and very red silk robe.
Gulping Blake watched as she made her way over to him. They were married and he had known her in person for almost four years, but he was always nervous. His past relationships had used him for money and his love life had been non existent once the company got off the ground. He was insecure, afraid that one day Emily would tire of his inexperience and leave.
"You look nervous" Emily stated coming to sit on his lap. His mouth was dry when he felt her warm body press against him. "Don't be nervous, I want to try something. Is that ok?"
She always asked him, just like he always asked her when he thought of something new. Not that it happened often, but occasionally he would throw in a curveball.
Nodding in response he watched her smile before standing up and running out of the room. Confused he began to undo his tie, but his arms fell limp when he saw his wife enter the room with a tray of strawberries, whipped cream in one hand and a bottle of champagne on the other.
" I though it would be fun to recreate our supposed honeymoon in China" she teased with a huge smile.
Blake nodded and within seconds he was in his slacks and running to the bathroom only to remember they didn't have a tub.
