SOS
Okay why I Tittled it as SOS because it deals with several topics together. These topics are often confused with each other. So, I am throwing a light on all of them in a single part of this book.
What SOS stands for ?
SOS stands for Save Our Souls .
Now who says that, probably sailors who get struck in the sea .Yes sailors use the code to seek for help .
But there are more people who use this term directly or indirectly . Can you guess this one ?Okay these people are those pure and special Bravehearts who have lost their way in a maze .
Maze ? Yes there is complex maze of emotions, choices and circumstances which keep challenging us . This Maze is often referred to as life .
Okay life is a gift what else is required when you are alive? We need happiness to live , we need a cause/hope / motive dream to live our life .
Imagine a life with happiness/cause/hope or dream .Will that even be a life ? Wouldn't it be just beating of heart .
So there are few terms which are confused with each other. Let's discuss them and their reasons .
Sadness- Feeling remorse .It lasts for few minutes to a few hours .It subsides on it's own .Since our brain has an default setting of deleting sadness .Causes of sadness can be understood very easily. For example frustration of life, missed opportunities, betrayal etc.
Blues- It is also a kind of remorse but it is longer than sadness .It may last for a few days to a few months .Blues are deeper and they arise from certain issues which are sensitive to particular individual.For example death of a loved ,break up , marital issues etc.
Depression- So this one is the ultimate level of sadness . It may last from months to even years . It's reason are not seen not clearly at times because it can be triggered with or without any reason. Depression does not go easily.
CURE
Sadness - It subsides on it's own .But still a person can share his thoughts to anyone to feel better .He can talk to a friend/sibling/ parent/ spouse /loved one etc.
Blues-These can be tackled with the quality time and company of friends/family/relatives.
Depression- It tricky to tackle but not impossible to deal with . Well almost nothing works if the depression has deeper roots but still mild depression can be tackled with the love and care of close and near dear ones .
Since Depression is often confused with sadness and Blues .Therefore , I will sight a few signs of depression here.
*Lack of interest things which you once loved .
*Anger bursts / emotional breaks down and complete meltdown into tears for specific topic ,on small things or crying for no reason .
*less appetite.
*less sleep.
*feeling alone and a feeling of aloofness even when surrounded by people.
*feeling empty all the time .
*Talking negative all the time .
*Non stop thoughts of Self harm or death .
*Nothing cheers up the mood, even fun stuff makes that person sad.
Misconceptions/Taboos about Depression
*This person is lying or he is trying to seek attention.
*This person is mentally unstable .
*It's only brief emotion of sadness nothing to worry .
*It's just a phase .Only adults get depression.
* It does not require professional help or any kind of help .
*Teens can't have depression and the change in their behaviour or demeanor is just due to puberty .
*All time happy and smiling person cannot be depressed.
*Only emotionally weak people gets depressed.
Tackling depression and it's taboo
*A depressed is not at all seeking attention. The self harm is just a way to release the pain and suffering which hidden in heart and soul .
*For a depressed person the idea of ending life is also a measure to end the suffering of depression.
*Depression is just like any other health problem .If we have issues with heart we go to Cardiologist similarly a person suffering from deep depression needs professional help.
*The person is not mentally unstable, he just needs a bit of emotional support.
*Depression can happen to anyone irrespective of age ,sex or social background.
*Teens too can suffer from it .Puberty changes does not cause prolonged sadness .
*Joyful people can also be having depression. They usually try to hide their depressed feelings with jokes , smiles or humor filled sarcasm.
*Even emotionally strong people can get it and all those people dealing with depression are weak or less than anyone .
There may be people who can't seek for help .For those people I say that you can talk to person whom you think can help you out .If you are all alone , seek help from the divine ,share your thoughts with almighty ,that divine power will definitely help you .
There are people who may be atheist ,these people can write into a dairy as if they are talking to a person ,this will help you to see what is triggering you , what you want to change in your life , how can you get out of this depression. Often when we write things it comes out directly from our subconscious mind and subconscious is the place where all your answers are hidden.

" Depression is like living with a body which wants to survive and a mind which wants to die "
"Depression is like being colorblind and constantly told how colourful the world is "
It's okay to be sad , having blues and it's normal to be depressed too.You are never alone in this battle .Keep fighting until you win this battle.
