"That's why they call them crushes. If they were easy, they'd call them something else."
— "Sixteen Candles"

Picking up the daisy, Jisoo smiled to herself. The wind blew against her face, her dress billowing against the breeze. The blue fabric had checkered patterns, with thin sleeves, perfect for the bustling spring weather. The butterflies seemed to float majestically in the air, but when she saw Seokjin, the butterflies seemed to fly harshly in her stomach.
He was wearing a sky blue polo shirt, similar to Jisoo's dress. His face morphed into a smile when he saw Jisoo.
"Chichu-yah!" he shouted happily. Seokjin ran to her across the field, smiling widely.
The wind was aggravating, blowing against them aggressively. But that's why Jisoo loved it so much. The low whistle in her ears, the feeling of closure, of safety. Seokjin was her wind, and still is.
When he reached her, his hand grabbed Jisoo's gently, dragging to to the park.
"Jisoo."
"Yah, what is it, Seokjinnie?" Jisoo complained, her hands dropping the pretty daisy onto the cement floor.
Seokjin smirked, glancing at the playground. "Let's play together."
Seokjin and Jisoo, two seven-year-olds in a friendship, did everything together.
Talking, walking, running, watching, playing, living, breathing was what they did together. All in all, they did everything together. Repetitively.
But, the thing was, Jisoo may or may not have liked him. And her feelings may or may not have been returned.
But as Jin dragged her to the swing set, Jisoo felt happy. Very happy. But she then gulped.
If Seokjin found out about her heart condition, she would be in trouble. He already was protective and sensitive enough. If he found out, he would have gotten all mad at her for breaking his fragile trust and lying, as well as depressed because she had a life-threatening heart disease.
But he wasn't going to find out. Jisoo would make sure he wouldn't.
"Chu, Chu! Get on the swing!" Jin's melodious voice rang in her ears, and she made her way to the swing set, where she sat down and waited for Seokjin to push her.
He started to push her, and sure enough, their giggles were heard all over the park. Adults looked over the two in adoration.
"They're so cute," whispered one woman to her husband, who smiled.
"Just like us," he replied.
But their time together wasn't much longer, and they wouldn't know.
They wouldn't know how Jin would completely forget about her, how Jisoo's condition would get worse, how they would meet the friends of their lives, how one encounter would change their lives forever.
But that's years later. For now, the young moment of Seokjin pushing Jisoo on the swings will suffice.
