Twenty One: Incredible Things
I broke the 1D game by adding T.Swizzle back into this book. Merry Christmas, by the way. Hope y'all had a great time, and I hope y'all remembered Louis's birthday and stuff :3
Sorry to all the Non-Directioners around here. I haven't been too sensitive about that, huh? Next time, I'll post a video with the song dedication along with the chapter, so y'all know what we're talking about ^u^
This oughta be a mainstream song, so I guess there is no need for that :3
Hope you all like the new chapter, even though it's shorter...

"Are you completely out of your mind?" I whisper-shouted across the window. I put the phone line down, and waited for his reply.
"I just don't feel like sleeping yet," he shrugged. "And you seem like sleeping is out of your agenda, too, so why not not sleep together?"
Okay, that sounded a bit wrong.
"Okay, that sounded a bit wrong," he quickly added.
Exactly.
"But still," he said. "It's not like I'm going to kidnap you, or anything. Just a nice friendly drive."
"What if we get seen, and another article shows up?" I worriedly asked back.
He shrugged once more, "Eh, I don't mind that. Do you?"
Good question. Do I really mind that?
"No... I guess," I answered back. "I'll be down in a sec."
The windows were down and the headlights were turned off as we cruised down the more urban area of North Carolina. It was a bit like New York in a nutshell— bright lights, skyscrapers, but with a sky full of stars. That was one thing that I always loved during the night here. We weren't that modernized to cloud the skies with heavy smoke that covered the stars.
Jack's eyes were barely on the road, as they were fixated on mine. He was telling me all about what had happened during the day, why he wasn't at the set, and other things that were absolutely normal for people like him.
"So, we were sent back all the way to California earlier," he started. "For another interview segment."
"Wow," I exclaimed. "That seemed to be pretty exhausting."
"It is," he replied with a small smile. "At least I got to lug around this baby back here, so we can drive out here whenever we want to."
His car was pretty neat, actually— modern, compared to Robin's vintage convertible. If I can recall correctly, this is one of them Porsche cars that almost everyone is dying for, but don't have the dough to get it.
Nothing was on the backseat, and everything was slick and sleek. He seemed to like darker colors, as they were very apparent in the car seating. It seemed like a bachelor's pad inside, except it moved, and it smelled like leather.
"What are you doing?" he asked me as I was carefully speculating every detail in his car.
I shrugged, "Nothing, I'm just looking around."
"Right," he smirked. "Feel free to take pictures and post it on the Internet to brag to everyone."
I rolled my eyes and punched him on his arm.
"Hey!" He smacked my arm away. "What was that for?"
"I'd rather be caught dead, than to be seen with you," I replied— sticking out my tongue.
"Do you mean that as a good thing, or as a bad thing?" he asked again— his smile burning against the dark.
"Why not both?" I laughed.
Cruising down the streets definitely made us crave for midnight snacks, so we drove by KFC to get something to eat. As I suspected it, Jack got a famous bowl— which I've read was one of his favorites. Along with it was a chocolate Krusher, and I just got myself a bowl of mashed potatoes.
"You don't eat midnight snacks, do you?" Jack commented as he shoved a heaping spoonful of mashed potatoes and corn kernels in his mouth.
I shook my head. "By this time, I'd be asleep, or still out and about on my roof with Robin."
He looked down— being a bit too silent as I said those words.
"I saw you two earlier," he whispered, keeping his eyes on the road.
I froze, and I had no idea what to do. He must be hurt, and I was the one who decided on the kiss and everything— but we're not even together, so could he be seriously mad about it? Of course, he could. Every sane human being would be jealous, especially after all the things we've done, and all the things he saw.
"Don't worry about it," he said again, before I could reply. "I know this is confusing for you, and I want you to make the right choice."
"Jack, I'm sorry," I replied. "I didn't know what I was thinking—"
"I said, don't sweat it, angel," he cut me off, which was a bit harsh, but I deserved it. "I have no right to feel anything against you. I understand that I'm not the only one running the race."
He stopped the car right in the middle of the road. It was quiet, and nobody else was there but us. I looked around to discover that we were already in the outskirts of town, and I never realized I could get this far from home. Jack took ahold of my hand, while staring intently into my eyes.
"Elsa, I know I'm not the only one, but please," he said, his voice breaking. "Choose me while you still can because you're tearing me apart."
I stopped breathing for a minute. My head ached, and my mind ran wild.
This... this boy. This popstar right here was holding my hand— telling me to choose him, while I had the time to hesitate all because of another boy who loved me all my life, but I never noticed. This boy— the one that I looked up to for years, was showing me all the world outside my bedroom windows, as if he just popped right out of my posters, and yet, here I am— confused, and not saying yes.
I nodded because that was all I could honestly do right now.
I didn't want to speak because I knew I could never say what he wanted me to say right now.
He was hurting, I know, and I didn't want to be the cause of anyone's heartbreak. I was at that end of the knife, and now I was holding the hilt, instead of taking the blade.
He started driving back into civilization, and with every second that passed, I started to recognize the surroundings. It was already 3 A.M., and the whole little town was asleep by now. All except us.
Silence still filled the air as he pulled over in front of my house. No words were spoken, and all he did was to kiss my forehead, which reminded me more of Robin than him.
"You aren't mine, either, so it should be just as right to refrain from your lips, too," he said with a small smile. That's not true.
"I'm sorry," I replied— still looking down.
"Angel," he started, this time with a wider smile. "I'm even more fired up to make you mine now. I like a bit of competition, and I'm sure as hell I'd be a better choice. I can show you incredible things."
I rolled my eyes, "Yes, I can feel the wind, the arrogance."
"Not kidding, angel," he took my hands again as we stayed inside the car for a few moments more. "You're special to me, and you're not getting away that easily."
Our laughter echoed in the car, and it suddenly subsided when Jack's face changed expression as he averted his eyes from me, and into the void outside.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
He looked back at me, with an intense look written on his face.
"I saw a camera flash."
And that's where I first got my eyes blinded by fifty blinks of lights, and a squabble of a crowd asking what my name was.
A/N: Belated Merry Christmas and an advanced Happy New Year to all <3
This update is a bit shorter, since you had to wait a bit shorter for it as well, so that seems quite as right.
I started this book, praising having a Wonderstruck Enchanted perfume, and now I'll have to let you guys know that I now have the Incredible Things perfume. Yay!
If you're thinking of buying it, please do. It smells like flowers and vanilla ice cream, and I just made it my new drug. Bye cocaine (lols i'm kidding please don't smoke)
Except if you're going to smoke Taylor Swift fragrances. (yes, please do)
I just might like it better than Wonderstruck Enchanted, tbh.
Anywhaaale, I have finally chosen the nicest six-word stories that you guys posted in the previous chapters, so here they aaaare <3
"To you I was a game." oh_schist_2003
"My world existed in only him" Disneylandx
"Everything changed when I saw you" amythestdarling42
Great job you lovesick guys, that was sad. </3
So far, I hadn't got any of the date suggestions you have here, but I'll try to make it happen. I'll try. Plus, we have to cry about this plot twist first, mkay? :3
xoxo,
Julienne
