Thirteen: Hello

Another update, just like I said. I'm taking my time with this book, so do excuse me if the whole thing goes too slow for your liking.

I didn't want to blink.

I felt like if I did, I would just simply wake up and recall this as another dream... Another one of them.

I was scared.

Maybe it was... until, I did blink... and he was still there.

Standing in his perfect physique, being the only thing that I could see in the room.

He had his silly smirk plastered on his face, as if it was the most normal thing to look like once you meet a person for the very first time...

I cleared my throat, despite my racing heart, "I thought that I would leap into you when the day comes that we finally meet. Guess it's not at all different from meeting a real person."

"Am I not real?", he playfully pouted, which brought a bizarrely surreal feeling of happiness into my chest. "I just stopped by to get ice cream. I wasn't really looking for you, don't flatter yourself too much."

"I don't", I casually replied, trying to hide the look of disappointment. "I'll be back to work, then."

"Hey", he took my hand, cool and smoothly, as if this wasn't the first time. "I was just kidding. I'm sorry."

"I'm just too overwhelmed, and I have no idea how to show it.", I shrugged it off, trying to act as casual as my body would permit me to keep pretending...

But inside, I was a bomb-- a firework.

I only ever imagined a life with him, my favorite celebrity idol... my elusive crush for a lot of years...

And now, I never knew that it would come so easily... With just a string of emails, and a handful of letters, this actually is true.

Barbs approached me and said with a wink, "If you need the day off, I understand you totally do."

My eyes lit up with excitement, "Really?"

She nodded, and I exchanged a look with Jack.

He, too, was smiling this large goofy smile that spilled all his surprises and plans for the rest of the day.

"I'd like not to make this as awkward as possible, so if you will, please hang out with me for the rest of the day.", he said. "Just you and me"

"Wouldn't the other girls be all jealous, and cause a drastic imbalance in the world?", I joked as we headed out to the door.

He held the door open for me, which I thought was incredibly sweet, "I don't think they stand a chance against you."

And with that, my heart just swelled up into indescribable extents, and I just felt genuinely happy.

I didn't want to blink.

I felt like if I did, I'd have another one of them getting away from me again. Just like before, just like all the others.

I was nervous.

I was nervous on what Elsa would look like... What if I didn't like her? Then I would have come here for something that wouldn't happen.

I didn't know how she looked like, and the moment my eyes laid upon her sky of irises, she already got me figured out.

She was so beautiful, and I bet my entire career that she would have kicked Deandra off her pedestal, if she'd gone through the path I had taken.

The sun was quickly setting, and the blue sky had turned into cascading stripes of ochre, violet, and rose. The setting sun lit up her hair quite nicely-- all the sunset's colors reflecting on her almost white hair.

She was looking down, avoiding eye contact from anybody.

"You okay?", I asked her. She glanced up at me, and continued to watch the pavement we were walking down by the bay.

She managed to smile a bit, underneath her curtain of hair, "Yeah..."

We passed by several groups of people, mostly were teenage girls, and they seemed to notice me through my cap... whispering to each other.

I kept Elsa close to me, but as she saw the girls who whispered, she stopped in her tracks, covered herself in her locks, and turned away... facing the sunset and the bay.

I held her hand, "I understand if you're not at all okay by being seen with me. I know that my name is too big for you, and you just might get blinded by the lights."

"It's fine.", she replied with a whisper. "I can't change who you are, and those are the things that I like about you."

I held her in an embrace, as we continued to watch the sunset dancing over the sea.

I felt like I've known her for a very long time, even though we rarely talked and all, but her letters had already given me a spark that I liked about her. She was kind, caring, and beautiful... Just as I imagined.

"You know...", she started. "People who just met don't do these things..."

"But we're not just an ordinary pair of people...", I replied with a smile. "And we've already met before... Just in our wildest dreams, I guess."

"Right.", she giggled, which was the cutest thing I have ever heard of, "But still, I'd like to go through whatever we're having normally..."

"Well, I'm a chicken wing king, and you're an ice cream queen", I laughed. "How do you suggest to turn this thing normal?"

"Maybe like how people normally meet as well...", she said, staring at the sunset again. I could notice the dress she was wearing underneath her mint sweatshirt that served as her uniform. "Like with a hello."

"Hello then, Elsa", I took the both of her hands, playfully shook it, and just kept it tangled up in mine for a few seconds. "It's nice to meet you, normally."

She laughed for a bit before squeezing my hands. She stepped in a bit closer, closing the tiny space between us.

"Mind if we remove your cap for a second?", she said, removing the cap from my head. My silvery hair came into view, and she smiled. "I still don't know why you choose to dye it all the time."

"How'd you know?", I asked her.

She smirked, "I'm the world's best fangirl"

We both laughed for a while, time freezing between us.

"Hello to you too, Jack.", she finally returned my greeting. "It's wonderful to finally meet you."

I was nervous of what I thought Elsa might look like, and perhaps it would change what I felt for her...

She said that this was wonderful,

And the amazing thing...

It suddenly was.

A/N: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING! Total hugs for you bc you da real mvp <3

So, how was it? It's going too slow... I hope I'm not boring you guys... I'm planning on having a decent proportion of Jelsa and Elsbin chapters... Maybe two Jelsas for every Elsbin chapter? Or would it be nice to have a 1:1 ratio of it?

On a side note, if you're thinking of getting Jennifer E. Smith's Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between, you totally should! Awesome book, but not as awesome as The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.

Anywhale, comment anything at all, and this time, include your best whale pun :P

xoxo,
Julienne
