Skye had never felt so lucky in her second period English class. Her luck started off when she and Levi were sat on complete opposite sides of the room. Her luck then got even better when she realized that she was surrounded by quiet but also smart kids who wouldn't bother her whatsoever. It was like she had struck gold.

Skye's lucky streak continued when she didn't have both third and fourth period with him. To add onto it, she was glad to not be stuck spending her favorite subject, Spanish (specifically AP Spanish) in the same room as him. Unfortunately, her lucky streak ended in fifth period, aka lunch, when she found herself sitting alone until Levi randomly set his tray down in front of her and sat down, looking insanely sweaty cause he just had gym class the period before.

The confused girl looked up from her phone, raising an eyebrow at Levi. "Uh, why are you sitting here?"

"Cause I want to." He shrugged, digging into his lunch like he hadn't eaten in days.

"Why are you so sweaty?" She asked him. The sight of his sweaty face and the way he was eating his food made Skye not want to eat her own lunch, but she'd rather not starve for the rest of the day so she just had to suck it up.

"Gym class," Levi replied. "Why are you asking so many questions?"

"Because it's weird that you're sitting with me." Skye leaned in and whisper yelled, seeing plenty of eyes on her. Levi could care less about how many eyes were on him, but that was really only because he was so used to them on him anyway.

"So?"

Levi really didn't get it. They were on completely different sides of the popularity spectrum. He had plenty of friends, well, plenty of options of people to see with while Skye had none. She noticed that a good amount of his teammates were in the same lunch period as them, so why not sit with them instead of her? However, the reason why Levi was sitting with her was because his best friends weren't in his lunch, and he wasn't all too close with his teammates outside of the field. Skye seemed like the best option, and it gave him the opportunity to get to know his lab partner better since they were going to be stuck together for the rest of the year.

"You're not gonna shut up until I give in, right?" She asked with a sassy tone.

"Mhm." He said with a sly smirk. The guy was definitely smooth, she had to give him that, but Skye really didn't want to spend her lunch period with him if it meant she would have to do so every single day for the rest of the school year. Chemistry and English class were enough.

"Is it too late to switch lab partners?" Skye scoffed.

"You're stuck with me." Levi chuckled, popping a chip into his mouth and crunching into it with the same smirk on his face.

"Yo, Daniels!" One of his teammates who was walking by called out. "You wanna sit with us? Or are you occupied with, um-"

Yes, this was her chance to get rid of him so she could have some freedom. Although Skye was mostly looking at random stuff on her phone so it looked like she was occupied herself before Levi showed up, she couldn't stand this guy already and the first day of school wasn't even over yet. She just wanted less chaos while she could have it. "He's not b-"

"Ah, I'm kinda busy here, man." Levi interrupted. "Lab partner stuff. AP classes suck."

"Totally, bro." He replied. "See you at practice!"

"Yeah, see you!" Yeah, that was a total failure. Of course, Levi could see what Skye was trying to attempt, and despite knowing her for less than a day, he loved pushing her buttons. It was going to be quite the effort to get rid of him somehow.

"Damn." Skye cursed to herself, which Levi heard anyway.

"Can't get rid of me, Simmons." He smirked. He knew exactly what he was doing, and Skye wasn't falling for any of his charms.

"Oh, we're on a last name basis?" She raised an eyebrow.

"I read your last name on the worksheet we did together, duh." Levi sassed. Although he was almost tempted to give her a new nickname, he held back as he wasn't sure how he could think of anything other than "Miss. Stalker".

"Ah, gotcha," Skye said. She then changed the subject, noticing that his teammate mentioned practice. "So, you guys have practice on the first day of school?"

"Actually, we started practice at the end of August." He replied. Skye couldn't imagine being at school during the summer, but for Levi, he was so used to it to the point that it didn't even matter. That was like his first day of school for him.

"You're kidding, right?" She questioned.

"Nope." Levi shook his head. "It's just how it's done."

"That sucks." Skye frowned. Okay, maybe she had a little bit of empathy for this guy, but only because she disliked sports with a passion. The only time she participated in sports of any kind was gym class, which she actually had seventh period, so she was dreading that.

"I mean, it'll lead me to a scholarship so you gotta take it seriously." He shrugged.

"I respect that, but sports suck." She said.

"You ever been to a game?" Levi asked. The answer was obviously no, but he couldn't help but wonder yes or no. Plus it was better to not assume, but he probably should've just assumed the answer was no anyway.

"Nope, and I don't intend on starting now," Skye answered. Levi was going to attempt to convince her, which she was going to predict, but he kept his mouth shut and didn't bother. Well, just not yet.

"Bummer." He said sarcastically.

"There's no way you're gonna convince me." She deadpanned.

"Who said I was going to?" Levi chuckled.

Skye lightly rolled her eyes and leaned her elbow against the table, her hand right under her chin as she looked off into space. She longed for the day to be over with every passing moment, and it was getting old already. Lunch was definitely going to suck this year if not all of her classes.

Fast forward to the last period of the day, Skye walked into her art class with tomato red cheeks as she was exhausted from her first day of gym. Unfortunately for her, she was stuck with the most strict gym teacher at school, so while the other teachers let their students relax for today, she had to run laps, and she didn't even bring gym clothes. Luckily she only had to deal with one more period before she could go home and shower the sweat away, but she would have to deal with Levi yet again first.

"God." She groaned as she walked to a free chair and sat down across from Levi. It was almost too coincidental that his table was the only one with seats left, but she was too sweaty and tired to care.

"Well if it isn't Skye like the sky," Levi said in a sarcastic manner. "Why are you so sweaty?"

"Gym class." She spat. "Why are you in this class?"

"Got put in it for whatever reason, but now I'm not complaining." He snickered. Again, pushing her buttons.

A couple of minutes later, the teacher introduced herself to the class. Mrs. Cloud, who was Skye's favorite teacher, already knew who she was so she had no problem with her whatsoever, but Levi was definitely going to cause some problems. Skye took her art very seriously, and she wouldn't hesitate to wreak havoc if someone got in the way with it because they didn't want to take it seriously.

All of the students in that class had already been in her class before, well, except for Levi. For once he was the odd one out. The tables had been turned. He was in Skye's element now, so there was no way he could mess around once the class actually started.

Mrs. Cloud started off her first class by giving everyone their first project of the year. She always started off with something easy in case there were new faces, although in most cases there weren't many new faces unless she was dealing with a freshman class. The project was to create a drawing of a shoe, specifically the ones that you were wearing today. Usually, she gave this kind of project to the freshman, but after seeing who was in her class, she changed her mind.

Once she got everybody started, Skye walked up to Mrs. Cloud's desk with a bit of a complaint. Why? Because she had already done this project three years ago.

"Pst, Mrs. Cloud," Skye whispered. "Do I have to do this? I mean, I already did it, so what's the point?"

"Well, maybe you can help out your friend over there." Mrs. Cloud said, pointing to Levi. Skye turned her head and noticed who she was pointing at and turned back to her teacher, immediately saying no to this proposal.

"He is not my friend." She replied.

"Help him, Skye." Her teacher insisted. "You two clearly already know each other as shown when you walked in."

There was no way Skye could say no to Mrs. Cloud, but man she really wished she could. "Fine, I'll help him."

"Yay!" Mrs. Cloud beamed. "Take a piece of candy."

She picked up and opened a jar of candy, and Skye picked whatever was at the top. It was a blue raspberry lollipop, and she unwrapped it and stuck it in her mouth before walking back to her table.

While the students conversed and planned out their drawings, Levi struggled as he had no idea where to start. See, Mrs. Cloud knew that he would need some help, and she might as well have someone he can (somewhat) talk to help him out.

"Yo," Skye said as she sat down. "I'm helping you."

"Wait, where did you get the lollipop?" He questioned. "And why are you helping me?"

"Don't ask. I did this project in freshman year." Skye went over to Levi's side of the table, leaning over so she wouldn't be towering over such a short table. "You're gonna have to take off your shoe."

"What?"

"Look, I got an A+ on this, take off the damn shoe." She demanded, and Levi obeyed.

"Okay, now what?" He asked.

For the next thirty minutes Skye ended up assisting Levi on his very first art class project, and by the time the period was over, they managed to get the outlining done to perfection. There wasn't enough time to do shading, but that could easily do that tomorrow if Skye were to assist him once more.

What shocked Skye was that once he managed to get started it was smooth sailing after that. He clearly had a bit of natural talent in him, but not nearly the same amount of talent he had when it came to football. With a bit more practice he could definitely be as half as good as Skye, that is if he managed to take it seriously.

Once the bell rang, Skye rushed out of the room, parting ways with Levi as he went off to football practice while she went to walk home. It sucked that her bike broke on the first day, but she was just going to have to suck it up until she managed to get a new one. She had a few months until Christmas, so she could definitely ask her dad then.

When she got home, there was nobody else there as her dad was still at work, so she made her way upstairs to her bedroom, throwing her backpack onto the floor and running to her desk. Skye opened up a drawer, picking up her notebook, and taking out a pencil. She then opened it up to a blank page, getting ready to write to her future self once more.

Dear Future Me,

The first day of school was a pain in the ass. You almost got hit by a car and your bike got ran over, but none of that can amount to the annoyance that is Levi Daniels. You'll definitely remember that name in the future, and I just know you're gonna look back in disgust.

At least your other classes aren't so bad. AP Spanish is gonna be real fun this year since I have my favorite teacher again. Some of the kids I question how they even got here, but i guess they managed to make it through Spanish IV last year? Honestly I don't even know how I made it through Spanish IV last year if I didn't have Nikki, but I can get through AP Spanish this year no sweat.

Besides that, this first day may have been a pain, but the countdown until graduation is gonna be even worse thanks to Levi Daniels. Let's hope I don't drop dead before then.

Sincerely,

Past Me.
