Skye's first class of the day was chemistry, specifically AP chemistry. The girl wasn't sure how she manages to ace her classes, but it wasn't like she was exactly complaining about it. As much as she wished she had the easy route and didn't have to spend hours doing homework, one day it would pay off for her, she just knew it.

Upon entering her classroom, the projector showed a seating chart, something every student ever dreaded. Sometimes it can work in her favor, sometimes it doesn't, in this case, it didn't work out in Skye's favor whatsoever. Actually, the seating chart worked out in nobody's favor. It was apparent this teacher knew who was and wasn't popular, which may be slightly offensive, but that's the public school system for you.

The reason why this wasn't working out for Skye though was because she would have to sit next to Levi Daniels. Now, who is this Levi Daniels that Skye really doesn't want to sit with? Well, he's basically every cliché high school boy aspect all rolled into one. Popular, captain of the football team, loved by girls alike (well, except Skye), and most notably perfect in every way possible without having to try one bit. If the guy came into school in pajamas, which he has before, all the girls would still swoon over him.

After looking over to see Levi in his seat already, Skye walked over and slowly sat down, feeling all the tension in the room surround her. It was just so awkward, but she had to get through this, no, she must get through this. Sitting next to him meant that they would be lab partners for the year, that is unless the teacher decides to change the seating chart at any given point, but that was a rarity.

Levi attempted to greet her, seeing as he thought she was cute and seemed nice, but Skye meant business. She wasn't gonna fail this class over a shitty lab partner. From past experiences, Skye automatically assumed that she was going to end up doing all of the work, but she wasn't messing around this year at all. "Hi-"

"If you think that I'm going to do all of the work you are very mistaken." She interrupts him, turning to face him once she finished speaking, but the moment her eyes met his, she tensed up. For once she was standing up to these kinds of things, but maybe she was the one who was actually mistaken.

Of course, Levi was taken aback by her words, mainly because that's not how he imagined meeting his lab partner for the year. He wasn't sure what she thought of him, but it was pretty apparent that she was stereotyping him. "This is AP chemistry..."

"Well, yeah, but I'm so used to being surrounded by idiots so this wouldn't be anything new." She said, clinging on to seem confident, but she was miserably failing.

"Are you for real?" He questioned, actually baffled that this conversation was happening the way it was.

"I think so?" Skye shrugged. Yeah, now her sudden burst of confidence was completely gone. Was she intimidated by this guy? She refused to be, but clearly, he wasn't messing around either.

"Who even are you?" Levi asked. Obviously, Levi had no idea who Skye was, how could he? They were on two different social standings, and he surrounded himself with the same people ever since cliques were established. Usually, he'd end up with one of his buddies or some quiet dude, but never did he end up being seated next to someone like her.

"Skye like the, ya know, sky." She replied.

"Well, Skye like the sky, I'm-"

"I know who you are." Skye interrupted him. There it was, back like it never left. Sass was kind of like her crutch, even though it was one of the main reasons why she didn't have many friends. Only Nikki really understood.

"Well, then I guess this wouldn't be anything new, wouldn't it?" He said, returning the sass right back at her. He turned away to face the front, and her jaw dropped for just a moment before she got herself together and also turned to face the front of the classroom.

Skye knew she fucked up. Just her luck that she would be paired with somebody who actually cared about the work they were doing. Being as smart as she is, she wasn't going to be surprised if a popular guy like him would sit back while she did all the work, but Levi proved her very much wrong.

After Levi's sassy remark, the teacher settled down the class, getting everything started for the beginning of the year. Since it was only the first day of school, there really wouldn't be any actual school work involved. Usually, this day is used to introduce everybody and establish classroom rules since each teacher was different. This teacher, however, had proved himself to be strict, which didn't satisfy the students that liked to chatter the entire class period. Skye typically kept to herself, but since she had a lab partner on her hands, she couldn't mind her own business for forty-five minutes.

Despite this teacher's strictness, he assigned a "lab" that he deemed "quick and easy", but it was the opposite of that; at least for Skye. Now, what was this introductory "lab"? Get to know your lab partner. Now, after that little exchange Skye had with Levi, she didn't want to speak another word to him. He practically one-upped to her in her own game, and now she was embarrassed as all get out. There was no way she was going to survive this class with someone like him.

The moment this lab was assigned, Skye wanted to scream out "no!" like in the movies in front of the entire class. Yes, seriously. Although she didn't do this, her jaw practically dropped to the floor, which received a quiet chuckle from Levi. She immediately turned to him with a glare, and then he quickly stopped and covered his mouth to prevent any more laughing.

Once the teacher passed out the worksheet to every table, Skye let out a sigh and pulled out her pencil, knowing she would have no choice but to suck it up. "Let's just get this over with."

"Well, aren't you enthusiastic," Levi said sarcastically, receiving an eye roll from Skye. As if she couldn't be more annoyed by this guy right now.

"Can we just do this worksheet?" She asked.

"No." He replied, which resulted in Skye to look at him like "are you for real right now?"

"Kidding." Levi quickly said and took out a pencil of his own, scanning the worksheet and reading the first question aloud. "What is one thing you already know about your partner?"

"That you're annoying." Skye scoffed.

"Okay, let me write down "has a stick up her ass" then." He joked, pretending as if he was actually writing this down, which obviously he wasn't.

"I was joking." She rolled her eyes. "Write down that you're the captain of the football team."

"Okay, Miss. Stalker." Levi joked once more. "Um, how about I write down something like that you... that you, um-"

"You know nothing about me," Skye said. "Of course."

"Well-"

"No, no, it's understandable." She brushed it off. "Just write that I ride my bike to school every day."

"Okay..." he said. "Next question, what is your favorite color?"

Okay, was this teacher actually serious when he made this worksheet? Surprisingly, yes. Clearly, he got it off of some elementary teacher on Facebook or Pinterest or whatever, but the guy failed miserably. "Are you kidding me? That's like kindergarten shit. We might as well just write random shit and turn it in."

"You know what? Maybe I can tolerate you." Levi said. Not rude at all, right?

"Gee, thanks." Skye sassed. The two then proceeded to write down random answers about each other, some of which they laughed at like maniacs, and the teacher didn't suspect one thing. From afar it looked like they were getting to know each other and actually doing the assignment, but boy was he wrong.

As the bell rang, everyone quickly rushed to pack their things and turn in their worksheet. Skye did this in no time, taking the worksheet and turning it in, ultimately leaving Levi behind. She hauled her backpack onto her shoulders and exited the classroom, but a certain lab partner desperately wanted to catch up with her. "Hey, wait!"

Skye turned around with her notebook and folder for her next class in hand, giving Levi a puzzled look. "What?"

"Can I have your number?" He asked, not even hesitating whatsoever, which shocked Skye a little.

"Excuse me?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Ya know, for lab partner purposes." Levi shrugged. Skye saw this as a way of asking her out, which was the complete opposite. The guy just really wanted to have his lab partner's number for future reference, but Skye was insanely blind and had her head too far high in the clouds to see that.

"Oh, right, right..." Skye replied, opening up her notebook and quickly writing down digits.

"Um, here you go." She said then walked away from him, trying her hardest not to crack up in the process.

"Hey, this isn't a phone number!" Levi yelled out, rushing to catch up with her. "It says 1-800-fuck-off!"

"I know!" She smirked. Skye then noticed that Levi was still going the same way as her, and the only conclusion she could jump to was that he was following her. "Uh, why are you following me?"

"My class is this way." He replied. He was almost tempted to crack a joke, but after that whole fake number prank, he had to think long and hard if he was going to one-up his lab partner.

"Okay..."

The two saw themselves still going down the same path, and by the time Levi walked into his classroom, Skye quickly realized that she would have another class with him. "Oh, you gotta be kidding me."

Levi turned to see Skye walking in and let out a small fist pump, knowing he could mess with her for yet another class period. "Nice!"

This was such a nightmare already, and they were just barely getting started.
