Afterword

I'm being all formal and calling this an afterword but it's more like an explanation because I feel like this whole thing is a bit vague. Hopefully my English teacher will be able to get it, or at least find some meaning that isn't actually there.

In summary it is about this woman who is writing letters to this man called Frank (who is her husband, if you didn't catch that). What she doesn't know is that Frank has sent her away to his country estate because he doesn't want his wife interfering with his steamy affair with some other English lady.

Of course, Elizabeth (woman writing the letters) doesn't know that and ignorantly continues to write letters to her husband. She thinks he is replying to her, but it's actually just Sarah (first English-y name that came to mind has nothing to do with real people) writing these 'replies'  under Frank's orders.

So Frank (that dirty bastard) doesn't ever read any of her letters and basically keeps her prisoner in that place for almost 10 years. They have a daughter named Mary and the last letter is addressed to her from her mother, Elizabeth, right before she commits suicide because she can't stand being prisoner anymore.

I feel like only people from my school will get this because it's all about female oppression, lack of female voice and female marginalisation in the past (and that's all that we do in English).

So it's very audience appropriate for my teacher, I hope.
