Dear Frank,
Goodness me! I haven't written to you in such a long time—things have been busy, you see. I know you'll be shaking your head right about now after all, what does a woman like me have things to be busy with?
Yes, yes I know, not much, but I have been looking around your library; Sarah gave me the keys to it yesterday. I am utterly shocked that you have been hiding such a treasure trove from me all this time! You could have deign to mention it some time ago about all the books you've been stashing away, they really interesting, you know. Well, I'd expect you do, having spent all your summers in this very country estate as a boy.
When will you be coming back? I asked Sarah the other day, and she just gave me a smile. I won't like to ponder on how she, too, doesn't know when you'll return but please do promise me it'll be soon. After all, I'm sure Mary will be missing me and I, too, miss her incredibly so.
I know it isn't the season for it yet, but please do try to get some apples, you know how much she loves apple pie—tell Mrs Brough to use the recipe with the nutmeg, it doesn't taste too much good otherwise.
Lovingly yours,
E.
