Feelings

Halfway through the following day, the students of class 1-A were lucky enough to be graced with two consecutive free periods as All Might wasn't available to supervise the hero studies lessons. Most of the students had grabbed the given chance to spend the two hours doing whatever their heart desired. Some went to the garden to soak up the afternoon sun, some went to the gym to train and hone their skills while a few stayed back in class to finish up on their reports, pass the time on their phones or have a chat with their friends.

Uraraka, being one of the few in class, finished up sending a text to her father, wishing him a good day before she pocketed her phone and turned to the boy sitting behind her. Iida was fully immersed in his work, a concentrated look on his face while he attempted to solve a Mathematics problem that the others had failed to decipher during the lesson.

Uraraka folded her arms over the back of her seat and from her position, she studied him while he worked. At one point, Iida let out a frustrated sigh when he hit a snag and he rubbed the space between his furrowed eyebrows. Uraraka smiled, maybe it was time to take a break.

"Hey, Iida."

The boy's eyes snapped up from his exercise book to her. "What is it?"

"Would you like to go to the library with me to write our reports?" she tilted her head and sheepishly laughed. "I haven't started on mine yet but I'll kinda need some help with some of my vocabularies."

"My apologies," Iida placed a hand on his chest, his pen still between his fingers. "I'm honored by the invite but I'll have to decline," he gestured to the book on his desk. "I planned to use this time to brush up on my Mathematics so I won't be able to join you."

"Aw," Uraraka's lips twisted in a pout, "that's okay."

Iida turned his head towards the direction of Shouto's seat. "Why don't you ask Todoroki instead?" he gave her a small smile. "He might not be too busy at the moment."

Uraraka regarded said boy with a hum. He had an open textbook in his hands and at a glance, one would think that the book's contents had his undivided attention. Although that wasn't the case as Uraraka noticed that he would often sneak occasional glances from over his book to the front of the class and then go back to staring vacantly at the book's page. Curious to see what was distracting him so much, she followed his line of sight.

She instantly regretted doing that.

She whipped her head back around, ignoring the sinking feeling in her stomach and set her lips into a brittle smile. Iida, who was quick to catch her reaction, rose a puzzled eyebrow.

"M-Maybe you're right," she said, her tone slightly wavering. "I should ask Todoroki."

The brunette didn't wait for Iida's answer as she was already rising from her chair to head over to Shouto. Iida watched her while she walked away before he directed his gaze to the front of the class, to where Midoriya was laughing at something (Y/n) showed him in her exercise book.

He sighed.

"Matters of the heart," he muttered, "are truly not for the fainthearted."

Shaking his head, he returned to his incomplete sum.

Perceiving her approach from the corner of his eyes, Shouto turned from his book to Uraraka.

"Hey there," she greeted him with a wave.

"Hey," he placed his book on his desk. "May I help you?"

Smiling, she clasped her hands behind her back. "Would you like to join me in the library to complete our reports?" she then added. "That is, if you're not occupied with other things..."

The boy threw another glance back to the front of the class.

"Will Midoriya and (Y/n) be joining?" he asked without hesitation.

"O-oh," her smile briefly faltered before widening up again. "Uh...yeah! Yeah. I was about to ask them to come along too."

Shouto fixed her with a cold stare. He could detect a faint note of hesitance and deception in her voice but he chose not to address it.

"Alright then," looking away, he closed his textbook. He wasn't even reading it anyway. "Go ask them now. I'll be waiting outside."

Uraraka pursed her lips and nodded. She really didn't want to go and ask. Doing that will only make her feel worse than she already did.

"Yeah, sure."

Seven minutes ago, same place***

The tip of Midoriya's pencil paused on the page and he briefly peered up at the girl sitting on his desk from the top of his notebook. His eyes roamed over her (h/c) hair, taking into account the stray locks that had escaped from her messy ponytail and framed her face. Biting down on his bottom lip, he looked back down and resumed outlining his sketch's head.

Hunched over with her eyebrows pulled together in concentration, (Y/n) crossed her legs to elevate the exercise book on her lap. Her (e/c) eyes darted up from her drawing to Midoriya's face. She narrowed her eyes with a low hum and added more freckles on her sketch's face.

She looked back at Midoriya to confirm the exact amount of freckles she had to add in. She straightened up a bit as her enamored eyes strayed from his cheeks to wander all over his face. From his intense expression, his forest-green eyes, his cute button nose, his freckled cheeks, to the lip drawn between his teeth.

She cracked a small smile. He looked so adorable when he was in the zone, he probably didn't even notice her staring him. Her fingers itched to reach out, pull down his bottom lip and hold his face in her hands. Meanwhile she'd look into his eyes and tell him over and over how much he meant to her.

She let out a silent, longing sigh before returning to her drawing.

If only...

Midoriya completed the drawing and leaned back to admire it. He flicked a look at (Y/n) to compare her to his sketch. He drew in a deep breath and loudly exhaled. He then smiled down at his notebook.

Though he had done his best, it still didn't do any justice to the real version sitting right in front of him.

He turned back to (Y/n). "Are you almost done?"

(Y/n) perked up, her eyes locking in with Midoriya's and the corners of her mouth quirked up. He had his notebook held against his chest so that she wouldn't see his drawing yet.

"Almost," she said. "You?"

"I'm done," he said, an expectant look on his face. "I'm waiting for you."

"Okay, okay," she quickly nodded, "Lemme just-"

Silence prevailed between them as (Y/n) hurriedly put in the last details on the sketch's face. When she was done, she breathed out satisfied sigh and rose her chin to grin at the boy.

"Okay, now I'm done," she similarly pressed her book to her chest. "Ready?"

Midoriya's foot jiggled under his chair as he nodded.

"Me first," she said in a sing-song voice before turning the book around. "Boom. How's this?"

The boy tilted his head. The drawn version of him had the lower half of his face hidden behind his notebook while he drew. His brows were knitted in focus and his fingers were tightly gripping around the top of his notebook. His sketch's hand even had scars on them like he did. Is that how he always looked when he was scribbling something into his notebook?

He continued studying the drawing and stopped when a small detail added next to his hair caught his eye. She had cheekily drawn in several manga sound effects of 'mutter' to make it look like he was rambling while drawing.

An airy laugh escaped his lips.

(Y/n)'s eyebrows drew together quizzically, a hint of a smile on her lips. "What?"

Midoriya shook his head and turned his notebook around to show her his drawing. Her lips parted and she placed her book on her lap to take the notebook in her hands. Her eyes trailed over the drawing and she huffed out an amused exhale.

He had only drawn her upper body, but he had somehow managed to capture the fine details so perfectly. More than she had with him. Her sketch was hunched over, just like she was a while back with her eyes glued on her exercise book while she drew. The only difference between her and the drawing was that instead of the small frown she was sure she had on, her sketch's features were relaxed and she was smiling. She actually looked like she was having the time of her life, with not a care or problem in the world.

Casting a touched gaze to the side, she bit down on her lip to stop her own smile from growing. That detail's addition was totally intentional. He fully knew that she'd smile when she saw it and it actually worked.

She looked back at him. Poking a finger into his cheek, Midoriya closed his eyes and flashed her a dazzling grin.

(Y/n) felt her breath get knocked out of her lungs and her face flared up. She hid the lower half of her hot face with her hand and shifted shy glances around the class. Sweet galactic Jesus, he was so pure and cute. Her grades were up, her acne was cleared, her crops were thriving.

Never before has she wanted to squeeze him so bad like she did at that moment.

Midoriya opened his eyes and put his hand down, satisfied with himself for getting his message across. Uncovering her face, (Y/n) turned back to him and opened her mouth to say something when a figure approached them from behind Midoriya. She turned to the person and her smile wavered.

"Oh, uh," placing Midoriya's notebook on top of hers, she cleared her throat to compose herself. "H-Hey, Uraraka."

"Hey, (Y/n)," she reciprocated with a smile. She stole a glance at the notebook on her lap and her throat tightened.

Midoriya looked up at the brunette standing next to him and his smile was replaced with a questioning look. "Uraraka...Did you need something?"

Deku doesn't like it when people sit on his desk. Uraraka shook her head. "Not anything major. Todoroki and I are going to the library to do our reports," she placed a hand on her chest. "Would you two like to come with?"

"Uh..." the male sent an unsure glance at (Y/n). "What'd you think?"

Uncrossing her legs, she responded with a half-shrug.

He turned to the brunette with a smile. "We'll come."

Did he really need her opinion? "That's great," she put her hands together and her smile grew. "You'll find us both waiting for you outside."

"Awesome," (Y/n) beamed at her as she handed Midoriya back his notebook and picked up hers from her lap. "Lemme get my report, okay?"

Uraraka nodded in response. (Y/n) hopped off his desk and the girl moved aside to give her space to head back to her desk.

Midoriya went to grab for his bag from the side of his desk when he paused to look up at the girl. "Ah, (Y/n)," she turned back to him with a hum. "Can you carry your Japanese literature notebook, please?"

"Sure," she placed her bag on her desk and zipped it open. "What about yours?"

Scratching his cheek, he tugged at his collar somewhat shamefaced. "I, um, forgot mine in my...room?"

"Izuku," (Y/n) sent him a scolding look as she stuffed her book into her bag. "You shouldn't forget important stuff like those. What if we had to use it today?"

"I-I know! But I was in a hurry to pass by your room I forgot to double-check!"

"Just admit you have a goldfish memory."

"(Y/n)! Don't be mean!"

"Goldfish Izuku~ Izuku the goldfish~ Fishie. Fishie."

"(Y/nnnnn)!"

Uraraka's eyes flickered back and forth between (Y/n), who was laughing and Midoriya, who looked like he was about to cry and pursed her lips when she realized that they had actually forgotten that she was still there.

Awkwardly nodding to herself, she silently slinked away unnoticed and headed back to her seat to gather her things.
