Day one hundred and seventy

I'm probably going to start skipping around some.. this "entry" was "written" during Effie's first check in with Haymitch. She is required to check in with her victors every three months.

Dear Diary,

Haymitch woke me up this morning with a steaming cup of "floating" coffee. It felt so good to have someone waking me up instead of the annoying and slightly obnoxious "beep beep" of my alarm clock. He doesn't appear to be drinking like he was three months ago but I think he's only pretending so that I won't be nagging him. Of course I had only just arrived late last night. I'm supposed to be monitoring him for the next few days.
The Gamemaker's want reports on the Victors four times a year.
I guess they put it in their database.. I never asked and to be honest I don't care. It gives me an excuse to spend time with him.
Last night after I got off the train I went straight to the Victors village. Careful to not get snow all over me (which was impossible). I took the steps up to Haymitch's new home. I had only been there twice. Once with Alloids and the last time was three months back, when I escorted him back to D12 after the 51st hunger games.
He lives in a two story home. It has 4 bedrooms 3 bathrooms.
Three of the bedrooms and two of the bathrooms are upstairs.
Haymitch never goes upstairs. He sleeps in the guest bedroom on the main floor. In just a year of him living here, he's already made it look like a pigsty. I tried to start cleaning as soon as I got there but he got mad at me. I wouldn't listen to his protests. I put my overcoat on the bare coatrack. Then started by hunting for his coat. I knew he had one somewhere it was too cold for him to not have one. After I found it and placed it on the coatrack I started gathering some of the trash. Haymitch pitched in some. We gathered five bags of trash in a little over two hours. When we finished with the trash I went to the kitchen to wash my hands and to see what I could fix for dinner. I wish I would have started with the kitchen though, because when I looked in the cabinets all I could find was a can of soup and half a loaf of bread. Even though it wasn't much it was possibly the best meal I had had since the games. Mom and Dad had had been on a cruise since after the hunger games so I haven't even had the excuse to come visit for dinner. Every night is so lonely, I don't even have a dog!
It's probably a good thing though.. since I'm almost never at my flat. My second job keeps me so busy that when I get home I usually go straight to bed. If I don't go to bed I tend to eat a t.v. dinner and watch the fashion channel. I wish I had someone to come home to. If only Haymitch and I could be together. I think about an old, ancient actually, story I read about in school. It was called "Romeo and Juliet". By someone named William Shakespeare. He was a well known script-writer several centuries ago. It is about a young girl who is in love with a boy a few years older than her. Except their families forbid them to be together because of a feud going on between the two families. A lot of people died in the story, even Romeo and Juliet! So many people have died because of us and President Snow forbids us to be together. I guess that's why I think of that story when I think of us.
Except I'm not sure if we would commit suicide because we thought the other one was dead.
Reading "Romeo and Juliet" gave me the butterfly feeling in my stomach. I love reading about people who are in love with each other but not the kind of cheesy love drama that Octavia and Venia like. It just feels so good two people so in love with the other that they can't imagine being with anyone else.
I better leave on a good note...
Love,

Effie

Been really busy with school here lately. I'm hoping to write another update sometime later this week. Thanks for the 207 reads (and counting) guys!
It really means a lot! I didn't think anyone was going to actually read it when I first started typing it.
