It's been a few day since Jihoon confessed, and it's also been days since Soobin and I haven't spoken. He tried to reach out a couple of times, but after a while he gave up on it, and I don't really know how to feel about it.
"Hmm... Should I wear a dress? Pants? A skirt?" I ask Suri, who's sitting on my bed watching me as I keep looking for something nice to wear tonight.
"Definitely a dress." She responds "By the way, my cousin is moving in next week."
I turn my face and tilt my head, looking at her.
"Who? Giyeon?" I ask, she nods "Really?"
"Yeah she's going to start with us next week for the new semester."
"That's nice, I love Gigi, she's a sweetheart." I smile.
Giyeon, or how we call her, Gigi, is Suri's younger cousin. She lives in Daegu, and It's been a really long time since the last time I saw her when she was like fourteen, and now she's seventeen. However, we always got along really well. I'm happy to have another female friend to hang out with.
"Okay, so what's that you had to tell me about Jihoon?" Suri asks, now laying on my bed as I keep rummaging inside my closet, I'm very indecisive because it's Jihoon's party tonight and since I'm not much of a party girl, I'm not really used to wear something that isn't jeans, shorts and oversized shirts. Suri looks at me with a bored expression on her face, and I gulp when she asks me to tell her what I've been keeping to myself. I feel my stomach upside down, but she's my best friend and deserves to know.
"Okay, I'll tell you, but please don't freak out." I warn, sighing and turning to face her.
She sits on the bed this time, raising an eyebrow at me.
"You're scaring me."
I chuckle.
"It's nothing bad... Well, I think."
"Just spit it out!" She shouts, grabbing one of my pillows and throwing it to my face. I cover my face with my arms to protect myself, giggling.
"Well, he confessed to me that night."
"What?!" She yells, quickly standing up from my bed, her eyes wide open in shock. "I knew it, I knew he liked you!" She adds, pointing her index finger at me.
"But you never said anything." I frown. She rolls her eyes.
"How's that you didn't notice? He's super obvious."
"I thought we were good friends." I shrug, turning my body and continuing with my previous activity.
"Anyways... What did you say?"
I sigh.
"I couldn't say anything. To be honest, I was really shocked and he said so many beautiful things I was overwhelmed." I explain "Then we kissed."
"You kissed?!" She yells again, throwing another cushion in my direction "Why did you wait this long to tell me you bitch."
I turn my body, lifting up my cushion from the floor and throwing it back at her.
"Stop throwing things. And why does it matter? I'm telling you now."
She shakes her head with a frustrated sigh.
"So you're seeing each other tonight after all that happened... Have you thought about giving him a chance? He's really into you, and he's really sweet and he's handsome. Maybe he's what you need." She shrugs.
"I... Maybe I will say yes to him. He's been the sweetest person on earth with me. I feel like I would waste a good opportunity if I say no just because I'm holding on to something that will never happen."
Suri smiles brightly, clapping her hands.
"Let's pick the perfect outfit for you to wear tonight, you better impress your future boyfriend."
I chuckle, shaking my head when I feel my phone buzzing.
"Um, Jihoon just texted me and told me to go somewhere else. I think it's a theater or something." I tell her, frowning.
"Uh? That's weird." She says, grabbing some of my dresses and placing them on my bed. "I guess we'll have to go there then."
"Yeah... He says there's some open mic competition kind of thing. I don't know why would he want to go there... But since it's his birthday." I shrug.
Suri knits her brows together, scrunching her nose.
"Does he sing or something like that?"
"I don't know, not as far as I'm aware of." I respond, scratching my head gently.
I don't know what he has in mind, but if we're going to a theater I better look good.
Suri grabs my hand and makes me turn around for her to have a better look. She smiles widely, placing her hands on her cheeks.
"You look stunning." She squeals. I chuckle, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"So do you." I smile, she winks at me.
"Thanks."
I decided to just wear a black dress with black heels and red lipstick, whilst Suri is wearing a navy blue one with peachy lips and white heels.
We hear a carn horn outside, letting us know that Yeonjun is here to pick us up. We grab our purses and walk out of the house, opening the doors and getting into his car. Yeonjun smiles at us, turning his body slightly and leaning in, pecking Suri's lips gently.
"You both look stunning." He says with a smile and a wink, before he starts driving again.
"Thank you."
"Thank you, baby you look so good, damn." Suri says, with a flirty smile on her face as she tangles her fingers in the hairs of the back of his neck, caressing him gently. "I love it when you wear dressing shirts. You look hot as fuck."
Yeonjun let's out a breathy nervous chuckle, still looking at the road. I roll my eyes and giggle.
"Contain your drooling, you thirsty bitch." I exclaim, teasing her.
She turns her head to look at me, and then nods with a big grin.
"It's not my fault that my man is this sexy."
"Babe, come on. You'll make her uncomfortable." Yeonjun chuckles, his ears red in embarrassment.
"Nah, trust me, I've seen and heard more than you think."
Suri extends her hand and smacks my arm, glaring at me and making me laugh.
"Wait, what does that mean?" Yeonjun asks, looking at me from the rear view, still with a grin plastered on his face.
"Oh nothing, just that this bitch is drooling over you like 24/7. It's nothing new to me." I laugh.
Yeonjun cocks an eyebrow, glancing at her quickly with a smirk on his face as soon as we hit a red light.
"Don't look at me like that, I'll break a sweat." She teases, laughing.
We keep joking around for about half an hour until we reach the theater Jihoon told us to go to. Yeonjun parks his car and we soon jump out of it, walking towards the big crystal doors of the entrance. Suri and Yeonjun hold hands, their fingers intertwined whilst I just decide to lace my arm with hers, making us look again like some polygamous couple. There's a lot of people out here, some are just chatting, others are in the queue, and the music is so loud we can hear it perfectly fine even though we haven't entered the building yet.
"Should we join the queue?" Suri asks, a slight look of disgust on her face. She hates this kind of things.
I giggle.
"It's okay, I'll call Jihoon."
I grab my phone from my purse and dial his number. Fortunately for us, he picks up right away.
"Hello?"
"Hey Jihoonie, we just arrived. There's a lot of people here, should we just join in the queue?"
"Oh no, come on, of course not. Wait for me, I'll be there in a minute."
I smile.
"Okay."
I hang up the phone, placing it into my purse again. Suri raises an eyebrow looking at me, while Yeonjun just keeps eyeing the surroundings with his arms around her waist.
"What did he say?"
"He will be here in a minute." I respond, running my fingers through my hair and pulling it off my forehead with the breeze blowing it softly.
Suri nods, and it doesn't take long for Jihoon to be outside and meet us. He greets Yeonjun with a handshake and Suri with a subtle one-armed hug. They exchange a couple of words before they walk into the building, leaving the both of us alone.
He stands in front of me, wearing a black and white striped shirt underneath a red velvet suits jacket. His hair is not blonde anymore, but dyed it in a reddish tone with golden highlights. He has two pendants hanging from his ears, and a silver necklace from his neck. I would be lying if I said he doesn't look stunning tonight.
I smile at him after I check him from up to down. He smiles back slightly, and even though it's dark I could swear I'm seeing a rosy tint on his cheeks. He opens his arms and wraps me in a tight, warm hug, caressing my back gently as I hug him back, resting my chin on his shoulder. He smells incredible.
"Happy birthday, Jihoonie." I whisper with a smile, playfully ruffling the hairs behind his neck.
"Thank you." He responds, turning his head and placing a long lasting peck on my temple. "I hope it doesn't bother you if we stay here for a minute."
We pull back slowly, and I shake my head still with a smile on my lips.
"Anything you want tonight, birthday boy." I say, lifting my hand and tangling my hands in his soft, messy locks, ruffling them. "New color? I like it. You look handsome."
He chuckles.
"That makes the change worth it, then." He responds. He looks down and grabs my right hand, running his fingertips over my knuckles, sending shivers to my body. "You look incredible, really beautiful."
I smile, feeling the heat now covering my cheeks. I look down at out hands, feeling shy to make eye contact.
"Thank you." I mutter shyly. "By the way, why are we here? With you being dressed like that... Should I assume you will perform tonight?" I ask him, looking up again.
He bites his lip, rubbing nervously the back of his neck with his free hand.
"Um... Well, yeah, I am." He confesses.
My eyes widen, and my mouth is now slightly open in shock. He looks at me with concern, probably thinking I will be mad at him for not telling me, so I just laugh. He instantly relaxes, exhaling a soft breath he seems to had been holding.
"How's that you never told us you sing?"
He shrugs.
"I just... Don't usually talk about it. But this is a big opportunity for me, if I win tonight, I will have another competition and then maybe I could get signed up for some agency." He explains "Besides... Now that I want you to be part of my life, I knew I wanted to share this with you."
He looks me dead in the eyes, with an intense gaze. My heart skips a beat and I feel a lump on my throat due to the nervousness. I knew this topic would have a place tonight, but now that is happening I started to feel really nervous. However, I already made my decision.
I smile at him, tightening the grasp on his hand.
"I'll be glad to support you."
A grin forms on his lips, and his eyes look as sparkly as ever. He let's out a nervous giggle, diverting his gaze to our hands and then back to my eyes.
"Does that mean..." He mutters, I smile, my eyes almost closing. "y/n, are you accepting to be my girl?" He asks, rubbing the back of his neck again, his cheeks filled with cute blush and a big grin on his pretty lips.
I nod.
"I do. You've always been so sweet and amazing with me. You've been there for me, and you showed me how much you care when you held back your own feelings to make me happy. I don't know if I can give you what you deserve since you know the story behind everything, but I'd be glad to give it a shot."
Jihoon smiles brightly, wrapping his arms around my small frame in a warm hug. I hug him back, burying my face in the crook of his neck before we pull away. He leans in and places a sweet kiss on my forehead.
"I wouldn't ask you for more." He assures. "Let's go inside, it's almost time."
I nod. He turns his body and I decide to surprise him grabbing his arm. He turns around again and looks at me confused, before I rest my palm on his cheek and place a chaste kiss on his lips, smiling at him when we pull back. He smiles, biting his lip shyly before he offers me his hand to take, intertwining our fingers and making our way to the inside of the theater.
My heart still races when his hand holds mine. I really made it happen, I already started to try my best to move on and give myself a chance.
The place is crowded with lots of people, and there's a huge stage with fluorescent lights of every color. Someone is already finishing their performance when we find Yeonjun and Suri enjoying the view.
"Where have you been? This is great!" Suri exclaims, slightly dancing to the loud music with Yeonjun hugging her from behind.
"Just talking." I respond. Jihoon releases my hand and leans to whisper in my ear.
"I have to go now, I'm next. Please enjoy this and wait for me."
I look at him and he smiles warmly. I smile back and nod.
"Good luck, fighting!"
He nods and kisses the corner of my lips, waving at Yeonjun and Suri before he disappears on the crowd.
Suri gasps, chuckling.
"I saw that! you flirtatious pair!" She teases, making me roll my eyes and laugh.
"So is he performing?" Yeonjun asks, I nod.
"He is."
"Let's hope he doesn't suck so I don't have to pretend I don't know the both of you." Suri shrugs.
Yeonjun chuckles, shaking his head as he looks at me, rolling his eyes. I laugh, pushing her slightly.
"You know him because I'm your best friend and he's my boyfriend."
Suri widens her eyes at me, her mouth agape.
"He w-"
She's about to question me, but then it's time for Jihoon to perform. The croud cheers and I can hear a lot of girls screaming out her lungs when his name is called.
"Shh, it's his turn." I say, waving my hand to her so she stops. I frown a little when he appears on stage and girls scream even louder.
"Well it seems like your boyfriend has a lot of fangirls you'll probably have to deal with." She teases again.
However, I decide to just focus on his performance and not worrying about his fans for now. It suddenly stars, he sings a cover of 'Press Your Number' by Taemin.
When his performance ends, a feeling of pride fills me immediately. He was so amazing I even think I'm his fan now. He sang beautifully, danced beautifully, and I'm honestly shocked.
"Wow, that was amazing." Suri says excitedly, smirking at me. "And hot." She adds in a whisper, making me chuckle.
"Yeah, I didn't think he would be this good." Yeonjun agrees.
I don't know what to say. I'm excited and happy for him.
His figure suddenly appears near us. We lock eyes in the distance, but there's a lot of girls screaming around him and trying to get his attention. I sigh, feeling uncomfortable until he makes his way to me, ignoring them. He smiles slightly, with his fangirls following behind. I smile back at him worriedly, my brows knitted together in confusion until he just cups my cheek and kisses me right in front of them. They stop screaming, but I can hear them sucking air through her opened mouths in shock.
Jihoon wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me in so our bodies are pressed together. I nervously wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him back.
When we pull back, he grins and kisses my forehead once again.
"Why was that? You just broke a lot of hearts right there." I mutter, smiling. He let's out a breathy chuckle.
"I appreciate their support, but you're the only girl that matters to me and I don't plan on hiding it, you know?"
I chuckle, finding his words incredibly sweet. I bite my lip and stand on my tiptoes, pressing my lips against his once again, with him kissing back almost immediately, He's the sweetest soul I've ever met... And I hope I can be able to love him the way that he deserves.
