"What about this one?" I ask Suri, showing her a peach colored dress. She shakes her head, making me groan in frustration.
"No, I don't think that's the right one." She sighs, standing up and starting to rummage inside my closet.
I sigh, walking towards my bed and plopping on it. I turn my head and look at the clock.
"Suri, we only have two hours left to be there. Jihoon will perform exactly at 8."
"I know, here, this one." She says, handing me a red dress and black heels. I frown, looking into her eyes.
"Isn't this a bit too much?"
She rolls her eyes.
"Of course not. Tonight your boyfriend will become an idol. You need to look as hot as possible so the fangirls will know they don't stand a chance." She shrugs.
I shake my head, snorting.
"You don't know if he's going to win." I say, standing up from my bed and walking to the bathroom. She groans.
"Have a little faith in your boy, could you?" She scolds me, and I chuckle.
The door swings open and Gigi enters the room with a cup of tea for her and one for Suri. She hands it to her and sits on the bed as well.
"What are you talking about?"
"This dumb is doubting her boyfriend." Suri rolls her eyes again. Gigi chuckles.
"I was kidding, you idiot. We all know Jihoon is talented enough to win." I state, opening the door and walking inside. I change into the dress, tying my hair up to wash my face.
"I haven't heard him yet, but he's probably good." I hear Gigi say from the other side.
"Really? I thought you didn't like Jihoon."
"Huh? Why do you think that?" She asks, confused.
I exit the bathroom now dressed and ready to apply some makeup. I grab my cosmetics and stand in front of the mirror.
"Because you run away or keep silent whenever he's around." I say, applying a little bit of powder.
"N-No, it's not like that!"
"Then what? Do you like him?" Suri teases her.
"Unnie! Of course not! What are you talking about?" She jumps, defending herself and standing up from the bed. Suri bursts into laughter at her reaction, making me giggle too. "I don't even know him properly, and he's Shay unnie's boyfriend!" She adds.
"I'm kidding, calm down Gigi." Surii says, grabbing her arm and making her sit again on the bed. I turn my head and smile at Gigi, who's now blushing and diverts her gaze, looking down at her feet.
"It's okay, Gigi." I laugh.
She sighs.
"I-I don't want you to have a bad impression of me. I wouldn't disrespect you like that, unnie." She mutters in a low tone "I would never interfere in a relationship."
Suri wraps her in a hug, patting her head teasingly.
"We have such a cute girl with us." She teases, making Gigi glare at her.
"Shut up and get ready." I demand, shaking my head and smiling.
We arrive at the place where the contest is going to be held. Yeonjun and Suri walk together holding hands, and I'm glad this time I have Gigi to lace arms with. The place is incredibly crowded, but the weirdest thing about it, is that I'm seeing to many familiar faces. People from school are here to watch it, I don't know if rumors spread really fast, or this contest is bigger than I thought.
We make our way into the building, walking among the crowd of people standing or sitting in front of the stage. This time, Jihoon can't be with us and has to be backstage til the end, so I have no idea what he prepared for tonight or how does he look.
"This is amazing." Gigi mutters with her mouth agape, mesmerized with the big stage in front of us, filled with tons of fluorescent lights. "I feel like I'm in a concert." She giggles, turning her head to look at me.
"Well, you basically are at one." I chuckle.
The four of us take our respective seats, having a really good sight. Gigi and I keep chatting about Jihoon's last performance that she didn't get to see, when I feel Suri patting on my shoulder.
"What is it?" I ask, turning my head to look at her. She has a horrified look on her face, and that makes me knit my brows together.
"Isn't that Soobin?" She asks, pointing her finger to the row in front of ours. My heart feels like stopping when I see him, just right there in the left corner, with his legs crossed and scrolling down his phone.
I feel a knot on my throat, looking away as fast as I can when we lock eyes.
"This can't be happening." I mutter, pressing the bridge of my nose with my fingers, letting out a frustrated sigh.
"Unnie, are you okay?" Gigi asks, placing her hand on my back. I look at her and force a smile, nodding.
Suri turns her head to Yeonjun.
"Did you know he was coming?" She asks firmly, Yeonjun shakes his head.
"I didn't." He assures. "He said he would sleep at my house this night since it's friday, but I didn't know he was planning to attend this event. I didn't even know he was aware of it." He shrugs.
Suri sighs, turning again in my direction.
"Don't let this ruin the night for you." She whispers, rubbing my back "You're here to support Jihoon. Focus on that."
I nod, giving her a sad smile. Right after, the lights go off and the first contestant makes his performance. However, I can't stop myself from looking at him every now and then, wondering if he came with that girl or with someone else.
I applaud with the rest of the people automatically, still with my eyes glued to Soobin.
"It's Jihoon's turn." Suri squeals excitedly, pushing me slightly.
I smile, feeling my stomach flip. I need to focus on my boyfriend. This is his night.
He appears on stage a few moments later. He's wearing a purple leather suit with a black shirt with and black boots. He dyed his hair silver this time, and he looks like a total prince.
"He looks amazing." Gigi whispers in my ear. I nod, smiling proudly.
The screams of his fangirls is deafening. I didn't know he had so many, even at school he seems to have a normal life, I haven't seen fangirls following him, maybe because I'm with him most of the time.
The back dancers form around him, and the spotlight is over him. It's time.
The whole performance is pure art. The scenography, the dance, the lyrics... And his voice. He makes a perfect show, and I can see how talented he truly is. He really deserves to win this.
We applaud for him loudly, standing up and cheering for him. The crowd follows, the standing ovation is amazing and I couldn't be more proud of him.
"Oh my god, he is amazing!" Gigi squeals, clapping her hands as loud and fast as she can. Her eyes are sparkly and the smile on her face is beautiful and shows how excited she got with it. After all, he really looked like a charming prince out of a fairytale.
"I know he is. He's the best." I say, grinning widely.
"And the winner is... Park Jihoon!"
The loud screams and hands clapping fill the room. I have tears in my eyes, happiness taking over me when I see him bowing. His big eyes got smaller, his grin is big, bright and beautiful even from afar.
He is now the artist he always wanted to be.
Suri, Yeonjun and Gigi start chatting with each other. I keep standing, watching him as he receives the title when I notice a tall figure standing in front of me.
"Hey." He says with his thick voice, and my heart skips a beat.
I turn my head and look up to meet his gaze. His hair is parted to the side and he's wearing a striped suit. His cologne enters through my nose and makes me weak in the knees. He looks incredibly handsome so effortlessly. A little smirk forms on his face as he stands there beside me, with his hands in his pocket. His face looks as beautiful as always, but his eyes aren't as bright as usual. He has dark circles under his eyes too.
"Hey." I smile at him, feeling nauseos in the pitch of my stomach. His stare is so intense is making me nervous and I'm already losing in it.
"I didn't know he was this good." He admits, diverting his gaze and looking down. "You made the right decision."
I force a smile, even when I can't understand the reason behind his words.
"Thank you. He's amazing, really talented and hardworking. I'm proud." I confess, smiling genuinely as I look back at the stage. Soobin looks at me once again, and I can see him with my peripheral vision.
"He's got everything that I have to live without." He mutters. I look at him with my brows knitting together, tilting my head in confusion.
He looks at me with a pained expression and a sad smile. I feel my heart ache, but I don't say anything. We just keep staring intensely at each other.
"Hey babe." I hear Jihoon call me from behind, snapping me back to reality again. I turn to look at him and smile, he smiles back at me and presses his lips against mine in a long lasting peck, kissing my forehead when we pull back.
I feel incredibly uncomfortable. Soobin is standing there in front of us, looking down and biting on his lip. He rubs the back of his head and looks up, smiling at Jihoon.
"Hey." Jihoon greets with a nod. However, his voice is stern.
Soobin returns the gesture.
"Hey, congratulations."
Jihoon forces a smile, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me in, pressing my body against his.
"Thank you." He responds. "Let's go?" He asks, turning his face at me. I nod.
I look back at Soobin, smiling apologetically at him.
"I'll see you around."
He nods, his shoulders dropping.
Jihoon grabs my hand and drags me with him to leave the place along with our other friends. I still turn my head as we walk, looking at Soobin with his head hanging limp and his hands in his pockets. My heart hurts, and I feel the urge to run back to him and hold him.
And I almost do.
But then we exit the place and I have to keep smiling.
Yeonjun, Suri and Gigi get into Yeonjun's car, ready to leave after we spent a little time with Jihoon and congratuled him. Gigi managed to loose herself and talked with him a lot, she feels a huge admiration for him and I find that heartwarming.
I look at him in the eyes, smiling slightly. He smirks, with his hands around my waist. He lifts his hand and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, leaning in and slowly brushing his lips on mine, gliding them in a sweet, slow kiss.
"I was so jealous when I saw you with him." He confesses, pressing his forehead against mine. "He was staring at you way too much."
I let out a breathy chuckle, but a stinging pain fills my heart.
"He was just saying hi." I assure, wrapping my arms around his neck. "He said you're really talented."
He presses his lips on mine again.
"Hmmm. Good." He whispers, kissing me again. I kiss him back, tangling my fingers in his soft locks when his tongue flicks with mine.
"You look good with light hair, by the way." I say in between kisses, making him chuckle against my lips.
"Thank you." He says, finally pulling back and kissing my forehead.
"And that song, it was so good."
He smiles, grazing my cheek with his thumb.
"Yeah? maybe someday I could write one about you."
My eyes open wide, my heart melts.
"What? Really? For me?"
He nods, a subtle smile on his lips.
"Yes. Just for you."
I wrap my arms around him and hug him tightly.
"How can you be so special?"
He hugs, with his arms around my shoulders before placing a kiss on top of it.
"I know, I'm the best." He says, joking.
I chuckle, pushing him slightly. I peck him on the lips and pull away, walking towards the car.
"I'll see you soon." I wave at him. He waves back at us and Yeonjun starts the engine to go back home.
The sun shines brightly in the sky the next morning. I decided to wake up early and clean my house a little bit and bath Kiyooung and that's how the whole morning passed quickly.
Walking around the park, I walk Kiyooung with the cute pink harness I bought for her. She keeps walking cutely and jumping everywhere, playing with the flowers and leaves all over the place. She is big now and It's hard to keep her under control, I'm thinking about taking her to some traning classes before she breaks the whole house.
I feel my phone buzzing in my pocket. I slide my hand in and grab it, answering the incoming call from Yeonjun.
"Hello?"
"Hey little one. I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm really worried."
I frown as I pet Kiyooung who's sitting on the floor in front of me.
"What's wrong?"
He sighs.
"It's about Soobin."
I take a deep breath.
"Yeonjun..."
"I know, y/n. Don't hate me, I just don't know what to do anymore."
"What's with him?" I ask, starting to feel worried.
"He hasn't left his room the whole day. He keeps crying and doesn't want to eat or let me in."
"What? Why?"
"I don't really know. He doesn't want to talk about it, but maybe it's because of Gyuri. She came here this morning and insisted to see him, they ended up fighting and yelling a lot."
I sigh again, feeling my chest clench.
"Is he at your place?"
"No. I'm at his, his mom called me because he locked himself in his room and doesn't want to go out. But I couldn't do anything about it."
My heart aches to know him like this. There's not a single thing capable of breaking me down more than his pain.
"But what does this have to do with me?"
"I don't know... Again, he always listens to you. Maybe you can make him speak."
"But call her, she's his girlfriend.." Ouch, saying that hurt a lot more than I thought.
"I don't think that's a good idea. Please, y/n... It's breaking my heart to hear his sobs."
I let out a frustrated sigh.
"Okay..." I whisper. "Send me the address."
I walk back home to drop Kiyooung and go to Soobin's house. My chest is heavy and I'm raging.
I'm going to kill her. I swear to God if she's responsible for his tears again I will ruin her.
How will I be able to see him cry again? How am I supposed to stay strong when his pain is also mine?
It seems like no matter where we go... Life always wants to take me back to you. I guess I'll have to try once again to fix your broken heart even if that means taking broken pieces from mine to heal yours.
