Chapter 1: YouTuber

The sun bid through the sky, spreading its light painfully everywhere. Just a normal day in Bangkok, nothing unusual. The horns of vehicles, the smoke of vehicles and cigarettes, the smell of people's sweat, everything was a regular thing. Every type of pollution was usual in a popular city like that.

But between those mist, smoke and the loud murmuring of randoms, one person always stood out. The popular one and only, Charlotte Austin, the owner of the popular YouTube channel, “as long as there's food” with 8 million subscribers at recent.

She usually avoided the restaurants in her own area and traveled around to try different area’s foods. But for the celebration of her 8 million subscribers and to keep her viewer's requests, she had finally decided to try the food of the most popular restaurant of her area, “Food is Life”.

As her hand held upright with her phone, with the touch of a button, the recording started. “Hey, loves, After listening to you all’s requests for a while, I noticed that there were a lot of requests for me to go to this recently popular restaurant called “Food is Life”. And who am I to not keep your request, right?” Charlotte kept talking as she walked through the street.

As she stopped at a foot walk and waved her hand towards an upcoming cab, she glanced at the camera in her other hand for a while and returned a smile that almost looked fake.

As she got in the cab, her hand fell a bit down and the angle of her camera turned out to be a bit awkward. Realizing her mistake, she immediately fixed it, making sure the angle was upright and exactly the way her face looked the most beautiful. “So I'm right now on the way to the restaurant. I'll record once I'm there.” She continued talking as she pressed the button again to stop recording.

Once the video stopped, she let out a long sigh. “Uncle, hurry up. I have places to be.” She shouted to the cab driver while beginning to fit her phone back into her Gucci bag that was barely the size of her palm to her elbow.

The cab driver turned to look at her for a second before shaking his head. The cab driver was quite obviously no older than 25 but from the way he reacted, it seemed he was used to having unnecessary rude customers like that.

In a minute or few, the cab stopped. Getting up from the cab seat, Charlotte got out, making sure to deliberately present herself to the world the second she was out of her cage, in case there were some fans running towards her to take photos.

As she took steps towards the path near the restaurant, her red pencil heels shone like a diamond. She pushed her orange shaded sunglasses with her index finger, attaching them to the crook of her nose. Her left hand traced her own waist as if showing off her snitched waist and the black bodycon dress she wore, her dark red lips shining with classiness.

Charlotte walked towards the restaurant, acting like a model while entering, her overly attitude already showing with the way she moved. So much that she didn't even bother to get the door for herself. She waited till a man was entering the restaurant and sneaked in behind through the door just so she won't have to push it herself.

Entering, she looked around carefully. The restaurant was indeed quite fancy, even though it was nothing for Charlotte. She had been to way better and fancier restaurants. She found a table and sat aside.

Some people turned to look at her in an instant from the moment she entered. In a moment, two girls began walking towards her. “Oh my god! It's Phi Charlotte! Should we go talk to her?” One of the girls asked the other.

“Let's go!” The other girl replied and jumped in excitement.

Both the girls squealed as they walked up to her. Charlotte smiled at the cringeness and tried her best to not make it seem fake. One of the girls tapped her shoulder lightly. As she turned around, a wider yet faker smile took over her face as she acted to take off her sunglasses.

“Phi Charlotte! We're your big fans! Can we get a photo?” The taller girl asked.

“Sure!” Charlotte replied, her tone not so convincing as she scratched the back of her neck.

Both the girls stood behind her chair and came closer as the taller girl held her phone camera upright. Charlotte continued her classy looks while both the girls attempted to make a v sign while smiling so brightly as if living their best lives.

“Thank you phi!” The taller girl said to Charlotte once they were done clicking the pictures. With a slight nod from Charlotte, both girls left her table while clutching their hands together as to Wai the other and show respect.

Picking up the menu off of the table, Charlotte began reading it. As a big food lover, she was not picky at all. She could eat anything and everything but it was a big matter of coincidence that all the food on the menu were her favorites. She couldn't choose.

As Charlotte struggled to pick which food to savor, a young girl, probably around 18 or 19 years old, walked towards her table. She wore a light red t-shirt and blue pants that stuck to her body. Looking around, Charlotte noticed a few more guys and girls in the same uniform and assumed that it was a waitress.

“Hey, Phi!” The girl began. “I know you. Can I get a photo?” She asked.

In an instant, Charlotte tried her best to hold in her laughter. Her smile then turned a bit cheeky as she took out her phone, looked at herself and fixed her makeup to look perfect with a wet wipe, right in front of the girl. The girl, still waiting for an answer, argued with herself if she should just leave or stand there.

After being done, Charlotte put her phone back in her bag and looked up to gaze at the girl. Tilting her head slightly, she looked into the girl's eyes and then slowly shifted her gaze towards her outfit and look. Her expression changed into a bit disgusted as she flinched her lips. “I'm sorry. Who are you again? A waitress?” She asked sarcastically as she looked back into the girl's eyes, flattening her lips together. “I can't be seen with a waitress.” She finished and shifted her gaze back at the open menu in front of her.

Embarrassed, the girl's smile wore out as she looked down at the floor. Letting out an almost inaudible sigh, she clenched her hands together on top of her stomach. “Is… there anything I can get for you?” She asked, acting as if that was nothing.

“Yeah, I'd like to have a bowl of fried rice with shrimp and chicken soup. And a medium rare steak.” Charlotte replied, not even bothering to look up at the waitress anymore. The waitress silently wrote down the order of the customer in her small notebook.

The waitress shyly nodded and asked, “Anything else?”

“I'll order dessert later.”

“Okay.”

The waitress walked her way back into one of the corners of the restaurant before disappearing into the kitchen of the restaurant.

It was a shame that the waitress was used to being bullied like that and she knew it was mostly because of her looks. She wasn't poor but she didn't look as fancy as the influencer, especially with the wait staff uniform on. But the overall behavior of such a popular person really disappointed her. Even though she had been bullied because of her chubby looks before, she had never been made fun of in front of everyone in such a language.

As the waitress made her way inside the kitchen, the fake smile she wore to attract customers and act like what that person said didn't affect her at all, wore off. Her voice toned down. Even though she didn't want to show it, she was deeply hurt.

As she looked at the ground, she handed the paper with the order towards the head chef. The chef, taller than her, and who was really close to her, didn't even need to take a second to understand that something was wrong. She took the paper and stared at the waitress for a few seconds before asking, “Ai’Fon… What's wrong?”

All the other chefs almost immediately turned to look at her as well. Fon was the dearest among everyone towards the chef's and staff. One of the reasons was that she was the youngest among everyone. “Nothing, phi. It's… okay.” Fon replied, landing her hand softly on the cooking counter.

Another one of the chefs spoke up, “Did the customers say something to you?” She asked. She didn't even wait for the answer by Fon because she could guess it by the look on her face. “Who is it? We can deal with them.” She continued.

“But I don't want you to deal with her. She's famous.” Fon replied, removing her hand from the counter, unable to look anyone in the eyes.

“I don't care.” The head chef murmured from the side. “How dare she misbehave with our sweetheart Fon?”

The head chef put down the batter she was mixing and started going out of the kitchen towards the sitting area of the restaurant.

“But she's Charlotte Austin!” Fon yelled, trying to stop the head chef by holding her back by her arm but she couldn't. She was both stronger and taller than her.

The chef sighed and stopped. “So?” She began, looking at Fon. “I don't even know who that is.” She shrugged before landing her hands on Fon’s shoulders. “I don't care if she's famous, Fon. She doesn't deserve to be in this restaurant if she doesn't even know how to behave with the staff.” The chef's eyes locked into Fon's. Unknowingly, a smile appeared on Fon's face with her words. Fon had never met someone nicer than her in her life and she was glad she was able to be a part of her life.

The chef turned back towards the eating area, holding Fon by the arm, she moved towards where Fon had pointed the influencer was sitting. The influencer sat with her right leg on top of the other, facing the other way and looking outside. Engfa walked closer, cleaning her hands on her apron slowly, she landed a habd on the influencer's  shoulder. “Excuse me?” She asked politely.

The influencer turned around in the fanciest way possible, her hair jumping with the exaggeration of the turn. Her siren eyes toned down when her eyes landed on the dirty apron the chef was wearing. Her eyes slowly drifted up to the chef's face, her wrinkles crooked with a sign of disgust in just a single glance.

To Be Continued.....

A/n: I don't know when the next chapter will be posted but since I had already written this, I thought I'll post it first. Charlotte is meant to be unlikeable here but I don't know if I'll be able to nail the character development though but let's see. Fon is an original character and I don't think I'll add a face to it.
