"I don't do it for me, do it all for the team
I remember back living when I was a teen
And my grandma, she said I was worthless
And my teachers said I had no purpose
And my mama she said I was perfect
I'm sitting on Twitter while I should be workin' on verses
You're worth it, and when you feel weak
The deeper the trench, the higher the peak
See y'all are a piece of my legacy 'cause you believe
We can be anything and I wanna be... me."
I sighed and dropped the headphones on the black table before taking the glass of water beside it, the sweat of the cup cooling my hot fingers and raspy throat.
Tap tap.
The door opened and in came a large figure, Hunk, my best friend since Kindergarten.
"That was awesome dude!" He stated with glee. "Oh, and your time is up. Some Justin Gayer guy is coming in to use the Studio." Hunk grinned and opened the door for me.
I smiled at him. "Thanks man," I patted his shoulder as I walked by him, leaving the cup on the table for the next guy to clean up. "And it's Justin Bieber."
"Eh who cares, now get outta here, Check out with Pidge too."
I saluted him and tugged on my green jacket before walking out into the brightly light hallway.
The hallway was long, with many different doors on each side, all of them had a picture on them. Sometimes the designs change based on the person who rented or owns the room.
I smiled and beamed, humming quitely to the crappy music you usually hear in elevators.
Even though I've been through this place more times than I care to keep track of, I always find myself feeling comforted.
The familiar scent of pinesol and perfume just made me feel at ease.
Crack crack.
"Lance, please come to the meeting room. I repeat, Lance please come to the meeting room-"
I signed again, my peace disrupted.
--------
"You can't be serious-" a long bang disturbed the room, my hands stinging from hitting the wooden table to hard. "There's no way I can do that!"
"Sorry, but it'll help with money and the 'Galra' are catching up." Shiro smiled and put his hand on my shoulder reassuringly. "But I already have enough," I crossed my arms. "And I don't like reading."
He laughed. "I'll help you, does that sound better?"
I thought about the project before leaning fowards, pressing my face onto the tables surface. "Fine...but you owe me Starbucks." He patted my back before looking over at our boss, Allura . "Are we dismissed?"
She smiled sweetly and waved her hand, her long white hair bouncing slightly with the movement. "Yes, I have a manicure in 4 minutes." We both stood and walked out of the cold room, leaving Allura to her own devices.
"Are you even planning on reading the letters?" Shiro asked me, taking synced steps with me, even though he was taller, my legs were still longer.
I stuffed my hands in my pockets and slumped. "Yeah..we can just donate to charity or somethin."
"That's sounds like a good plan to me." I felt the smile on his lips, the light tone suggesting he knew I was going to say that.
Suddenly, he stopped and looked like he remembered something important.
"Sorry lance, I need to go tell Coran about the project, he needs to set up the flyers and ad. You might get a call later if you're needed in it." He turned around and waved, speed walking to another District.
I nodded even though he wasn't there anymore before I started my journey to the front desk again.
In less than two minutes I was there, already feeling better from the loud noise of Pidge's tools falling.
"Yo little sis' what are you up to now?" I called over her and set my hand on the white counter.
The metal clashes stooped and she looked up at me from the floor, behind her was a few panels of things my brain couldn't process. Pidge worked at our attendance desk, but always seemed to have time to build things. Allura liked her, so there wasn't any worry of her being fired, at least not now.
Pidge lifted her goggles and flicked back her dirty blonde bangs, accidentally hitting herself with the wrench still in her hand.
"Oh, I'm just making a *insert science words here* and then I'm going to burn this piece together and make a *insert more sciency words*."
I laughed and opened the sign out binder. "I'm just going to pretend I knew what you meant."
This time, she was the one to laugh. "What, you're leaving already?"
I hummed as a response and closed it after giving my information.
"Yes ma'am. I got blue to love remember?" I winked at her before walking out of the thick glass doors, the guards closing it behind me.
