7| His Unexpected Side
Advika's POV
"Start"
He was looking at me with his arms folded to his chest and his shoes tapping against the floor, waiting for me to start to apologize to him.
"Sorry..." a wide smile spread across his lips as I said the word he was dying to hear from my mouth "...my foot" the curve that had just formed on his lips vanished as soon as I added the last two words and I smiled evilly.
I will not apologize to him, and he just can't blackmail me in this manner. I just remember that I have other forms of identification, such as a voting card, a driver's license, and so on. He has already seen the photo on my ID card, so he can keep it all to himself.
"Seriously?" His eyebrow cocked as he asked me.
"I don't do jokes with strangers," I told him in his tone "so yes, seriously"
"So you won't apologize to me then?" He asked
"No, because I don't think I did anything wrong. You deserve all of that" I showed him my tongue.
His eyes narrow in anger as I said that and he huffed.
"Don't forget that you are going to work for me so..."
"So what?" I took the smallest step forward to demonstrate to him that just because he is the son of my employer does not mean he will blackmail or threaten me to surrender in front of him "you can't bring personal life into a professional one"
And I am going to work for his father, not for him. So I am safe.
Tehee...
His eyes narrowed again, and his fist clenched around my ID card. He wasn't expecting me to behave so bravely and boldly. He was trying to contain his rage, and I was doing a mental dance as I succeeded in pissing him off.
"Ok then" he showed me the ID card "I am going to put this photograph of yours in the employee directory"
"NO!"
I shook my head from left to right, preparing to attack him. He is extremely intelligent and sharp, so I knew he would not waste time determining my next move. Before he could move or do anything, I jumped on him, specifically at his hand, to snatch my ID card, but because he was unprepared, he fell back on the bed and I collapsed on his chest, my head bumping into his jaw, and he moaned in pain.
"Sixth sorry added to the list" he murmured in pain rubbing his chin.
Ignoring him and his words, I moved my hand slowly toward his and gently took hold of half of my ID card while he wiggled in pain.
I raised my face to stand back and move away from him, but my neck chain became entangled with the button on his shirt, resulting in another scene that is common in love stories, but as I previously stated, there was no love in the air in our case.
But this brought me to a halt, and we began staring deeply into each other's eyes.
Our breaths mingled, and the world around me disappeared, leaving only his eyes and his face visible. He wasn't even blinking or moving his eyes away, which struck me as odd.
The sound of footsteps near my room's door jolted us out of our reverie. I immediately unhooked my neck chain from his button with the help of my free hand and stood back while taking the support of his body. When my elbow dug into his stomach in my haste to stand up, he groaned in agony again. He ignored the pain and rushed to stand by my side as if nothing had happened a minute before.
I didn't forget to take the ID card from his grasp and clutch it tightly in my fist. Although it appears that he let it go without much effort this time.
My mother appeared as expected as we stood straight facing the door.
"She hasn't teased you. Right?" My mother inquired.
Seriously? She should check with her daughter to see if the stranger has teased her.
He looked at me once before tilting his head towards my mother, who smiled.
"Come on, let's have tea," she said, and he followed her.
This is my mother! Mother India!
She serves tea to everyone who comes into her house even if he is an enemy.
I didn't have another option than to follow both of them to the living room. My eyes widened when I saw the Samosa I brought served for him on the middle of the table with piping hot tea.
"Come sit, beta (child)" my mother said sweetly.
Beta?
Seriously?
She poured the tea into two cups and served one to him while they settled in front of each other and I grabbed a chair beside them. My mother waited for him to finish his tea before she began questioning him. She talks a lot, and I am surprised she's been quiet for so long.
"What is your name, child? How did you get here? I've never noticed you before. Have you been relocated to our area?" And with that, she began her train of questions, which my ears had been aching to hear for a long time.
He tilted his head to me once before looking at my mother again.
"My name is Shravan Singha..." He cleared his throat "Singh... Shravan Singh"
Singh? But he is Atharva Singhania's son so his surname should be Singhania. Isn't it?
"No, I haven't been relocated. Actually, I work for the Singhania Corporation, and Advika dropped her ID card there by accident, so I came here to retrieve it for her else she had to face difficulty getting entry tomorrow" He pointed to the ID card I was still clutching.
He's acting as if he handed me the card by himself, and only I know how hard I fought to get it back.
"Oh great," mumma exclaimed, "so you're going to work together?" He gave a nod "Oh, that's wonderful to hear. I am glad that my daughter got a good friend before joining the company" My mother became happy as if she has won an award.
But why he hasn't told the truth to my mother?
"Take Samosas please" my mother pushed the plate towards him "you know they are the most famous samosa in our locality"
My brow furrowed. I mean yes I have fought with him but he is the son of Mr. Atharva Singhania. He must be used to eating expensive food in five-star hotels. Why would he consume this unhygienic street food? And based on his appearance, I doubt he would consume oily foods.
She motioned for me to ask him for the samosa, and when I didn't move, she crushed my feet.
"Ahhh" I yelled and he looked up.
"I mean, ahh, samosa is very tasty. Take it" I pushed the plate towards him.
Looking at his physic I am sure that he doesn't eat this type of food but to my surprise, he picks up on samosa without throwing a tantrum.
What?
Esa nahi hota yaar...
(It doesn't work like this...)
As a guest, ek baar to mana kiya jata hai...
(Guest denies snacks at least once)
"Thank you so much" my breath hitched when he picked one samosa and dipped it in the chilly sauce. Seriously? He knows how to eat it "my mother likes street food very much and the same goes for me"
His mother?
Ok!
"It seems like you love your mother," my mother said.
"A lot!" He replied.
My mother gave me a look at his reply as if I am torturing her.
He then took that Samosa in his mouth and started devouring it. I gulped because I was also hungry. I hadn't eaten anything since the morning because I was nervous, and now he is eating my favorite samosa right in front of me. He looked at me, closed his eyes, and moved his mouth slowly as if teasing me.
I am going to kill him!
"They are amazing," he said opening his eyes and looking at my mother "but next I would like to have them cooked with your hands," he said.
"Why not beta?" My mother said happily "anything for you"
Anything?
What the hell is happening here right now?
How could he just request my mother to cook food for him in the first meeting and how could my mother trust him so much?
"I again apologize to you for what my kids did to you. I hope you won't take it out in the work ...uhuh ... You know" my mom again tried to apologize to him.
Why mom? Why?
"No, it's perfectly fine, auntie," he said with a broad smile as he placed the empty cup on the table, "and believe me, I am so impressed with your hospitality that I am going to take good care of your daughter like a good senior," he said with a smirk, looking at me.
My foot, senior!
I would have told him if he hadn't been Atharva Singhania's son. If he believes he is a powerful man, I will bow in front of him.
No!
Never!
I am just keeping quiet because I respect his father but not him!
"All right, auntie. I would like to return to work," he said, standing up and adjusting his coat. "Namastey" He stated while joining his hands.
Why is he attempting to be sanskari when he is not? Because he comes from such a famous family, he must be a completely spoiled prince.
'Namastey Beta,'
My mother was about to wave him goodbye when her phone rang.
"Advika, go and see him off"
I clenched my teeth. I haven't eaten anything since the morning, and my mother hasn't even asked me about the tea, but now she wants me too.....
Oh, no!
Com'on, Advika. Because he would be finally out of your house this way.
He took a step back as we approached the door. I was about to close the door in his face when he leaned in and whispered in my ear,
"See you tomorrow, Addu Kaddu" he winked at me before turning around, wearing his sunglasses, and walking away.
What?
What was that?
How does he come to know about my name?
NOOOOOO!
