6| Blackmailing Her

Advika's POV

My bad luck was that my brother ducked just in time, and the samosa landed on the face of the person standing at the door.

When I saw the face of the person on whom the Samosa had been landed, the ground beneath my feet slipped!

Why, why, why, God?

Why does it have to be me every time?

As he blinked, the Samosa that was stuck to his nose fell off, and Garvit burst out laughing like a lunatic.

It's a good thing it wasn't dipped in Chatni, or it would have been even more embarrassing.

I gulped down the sludge that had formed in my throat and sucked in a deep breath with an open mouth. I was hell shocked to move from my place. Today I have faced so much that I can easily write 3-4 chapters in a single day.

My brother, the incarnation of the devil himself, was still teasing me by making various faces. I will undoubtedly kill him once everything is in order and the stars are on my side.

"I am sorry, Mr., for my children's behavior," my mother ran up to him and apologized on our behalf.

By the way, forget about him being my boss's son; he deserves this for what he did to me in the morning. I relaxed a bit as soon as this thought came up in my head.

"Kid!" Shravan mouthed looking at me.

"Garvit, apologize" our mother ordered her son as he would listen.

"Why would I?" He shrugged his shoulder as expected "this is Addu who has thrown the samosa at him so she should be the one who should be apologizing"

Me?

My heart stopped beating the moment all of them looked toward me and like every time I was held responsible for what has happened in the house. I am not easily scared of people, but I believe this is happening because I just ran away from him.

I actually made a mistake before even starting the job. Who knows what will happen next?

"Adu," my mother pushed me from the side, jolting me out of my reverie.

"Yes"

"Where are you lost?" she asked in my ear, "I have been asking you to apologize to him for the last minute and you are not even listening to me!" She reprimanded in hushed tones so that the man in front of us would not hear her.

"No, I will not. Request that Garvit do the same. He is to blame for everything" I returned her whisper but my voice was stern and harsh.

"She is sorry for you," my mother said while lying with a fake smile.

My head snapped toward her with wide eyes. How could she lie so easily? She squeezed my palm, telling me to keep my mouth shut.

How could she?

This is not done!

She can't take the side of her son every damn time!

"Adu baby," she said as she turned to face me, "take him to your room and help him get clean while I prepare tea for him."

"Tea? Why? "I inquired of her.

"This is how we greet our guests. Do we not?" She inquired.

"How did he become our guest?" I was actually surprised.

She doesn't even know this man and she is ready to serve him tea. What if he is a burglar?

"Stop asking questions and just do what I say. You are getting out of my hands." Before she could scold me any further, I turned on my heels and began walking.

I will talk to her once he is out of this house or she will scold me like a small child without caring that we have an intruder standing in the middle of the house shamelessly listening to all our private conversations.

"Now where are you going?" She asked from behind.

"To help him in cleaning!" I taunted and rolled my eyes.

"Please sir, this way," my mother said, and although I couldn't see it, I am sure she gave him a fake smile, indicating the way to me.

I closed my eyes, huffed loudly, and walked into my room. Only this remained to be done.

I opened the door with a loud bang and walked in. Our common washroom is under maintenance so these days all of us are using the washroom attached to my room.

"Hmm... So this is your room," he said, making me look at him. "It shows your personality."

"My personality?" I asked.

"Yes... Clumsy and disorganized," he said, and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Washroom is this way," I said, and he went in to wash his face while I waited outside.

My eyes widened to the point of coming out of their sockets when I remembered that I have left my bra hanging in the bathroom as I was in a hurry and I thought I would do it in the evening.

I just hope he doesn't see it!

Let it be! Even if he sees it, it is just a piece of cloth. Right?

I tried to distract my mind by thinking of something else. My feet came to a halt as I was walking through my room.

Wait for a second!

What is he doing here, is the first question.

Was he stalking me?

Is he really that bad?

I couldn't believe when I saw his ministrations that he was the son of none other than Mr. Atharva Singhania.

My first reaction was to dash to the restroom and ask him my question, and I did so without hesitation, regardless of his condition.

When I peeked in, I saw him splashing water on his face. His shirt was on the hanger next to him. Every time his hands moved up to splash water on his face, his arm muscles bulged, exhibiting his rip muscles which had tattoos on them.

What the fudge is this?

When I saw that, my breath caught in my throat, my knees wobbled and a weird sensation ran throughout my body.

He came to a halt and was about to turn his face toward me, but I took a step back and stood beside the wall in time.

Thank God, he was not able to see me.

I walked around and sat on the bed to calm my racing heart.

"Were you checking me out?" It was the first thing he asked when he stepped out of the bathroom.

"Me? Why would I?" I confidently asked. "You are no Shahrukh Khan!" I exclaimed and rolled my eyes again.

I don't usually roll my eyes but I can't help it around him.

"I am no less than him," he added with a light chuckle, as I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Please don't let me forget the most important question! What are you doing here?" I asked as I approached him. "Were you following me?" I took another step towards him. "Are you really a jerk..." I asked, taking another step forward and he took a step back until his back hit the wall.

"Stop!" Before I could proceed, he yelled "Right now. Stop. There"

And I came to a halt because there was no room for him to move back, and one more step from my side would close all the gaps between us, which I also do not want.

"I came here to save your life," he said.

"Save my life?" My eyebrows squinted "how? I don't think my house is going to de..."

"This" he showed me my ID proof before I could complete myself.

But how did he get that?

I jumped to my feet, ready to snatch my ID proof from him, but he was too quick, raising his hand even higher and out of my reach.

"Thank God, I was able to see your ID proof; otherwise, I would have assumed you were from another planet"

Was he just making fun of me?

"What exactly do you mean?" I inquired.

"But, you still appear to be from another planet in this ID card," he said pointing to my ugly picture of Adhar Card.

But I didn't get my answer. Does what I am saying doesn't matter to him?

"Enough of it" I huffed "give this back to me" I grumbled.

"How about if I don't?" He cocked his brow.

"All right, you can keep it to yourself." I folded my arms when I was tired of failing attempts.

"Are you sure?" He inquired.

"Yes," I said again, "you don't have to come to my house to give it to me. You could have given it to me the next day in the office" I stated self-evident.

"Aaj kal bhalai ka to zamana hi nahi hai (there is no place for good deeds, these days)" he murmured "No one gets into Singhania Corporation except me and Mr. Singhania without ID. You were accepted today based on the 'Call Letter for Interview'. What are you going to show tomorrow?" He inquired.

He now appears to be logical! But why did he come here on his own? He could have had his man deliver my ID card to my house, or he could have simply posted it. But before I could ask him, he went on...

"But, now that you don't want it..." His hand moved back to keep it in his pocket "I can...."

"No!" I yelled and reached for his hand once more. "Give it to me."

"First, apologize to me five times," he said, locking his hand behind his back.

"Five times? For what?" my brows squinted.

"Don't act innocent which you are not!" He passed the comment

When I didn't reply to him, he continued...

"Hmm" he drew a deep breath as if preparing himself for a long speech "First, for running blindly in front of my car" he took a step to my left "second, for shouting at me in public" he took another step at my back while I was standing statued at my place "third, for arguing with me when it was completely your fault" he took another step and now he was standing at my right "fourth, for calling me a jerk" he took another step to stand face to face to me "fifth, for throwing samosa on my face"

I believe you deserve another samosa shoved right in your face!

Huh!

"Did you say something?" He asked, dramatically bringing his ear close to my mouth.

"Nothing," I said, shaking my head.

I am keeping quiet because he currently has the upper hand. After all, he has my ID card, which I need to join the company. Without it, I can't do anything. Even if I got the entry, this is going to be the first thing HR is going to ask me for verification.

"Good, because I don't want to hear a single word from your mouth except for five sorries"

He gave me a few seconds to process what he was saying and prepare myself to apologize to him but am I really going to apologize?

"Start!"
