Eason's P.O.V:
We all shivered in fear while the woman attempted to explain herself. She sat across the room in a chair, looking at all of us as we tried to shift our thoughts. I was terrified, not as terrified as the others, but terrified nonetheless. To begin with, I have never seen her in my life. Secondly, she was there as if she had materialised out of nowhere. Her complexion was as white as a pearl, which accentuated to the room's ambiance. She appeared to be tall, but what struck me was that she appeared to be in her late twenties, but her eyes suggested otherwise. The gloom in her eyes gave me the impression that she had lived a lavish life while somehow having lived nothing. Her long, golden hair was styled off her face, accentuating her features.
The leaves outside blew faster and stronger, creating a loud and harsh sound in the air, the area had become colder. In response to the dampness of the room, my spine stiffened. I strained for air and my lungs felt heavier. I looked about and I saw the others, who appeared to be having the same experiences. I had the impression at the time that this woman had something to do with it all... but could it be true? Of course not; this whole situation is complete nonsense. I thought my exhaustion got the best of me. After all, Pitt and I spent most of the night looking for Ella.
"Some of you may already know me—" the woman said softly but powerfully. I tried to look at her but I couldn't. I fought a battle against my own body, which refused to obey my wishes.
"Just answer my question!" Aries yelled once again, his voice trembling. In a state of befuddlement, his gaze wandered everywhere but her.
"I'll respond to your question." the woman fidgeted with her hands, impatiently. "Like I already said before, you are all here for a reason."
"Cut the crap and get on with it! What brought us here? These are people I've never met before!" the chubby girl demanded, her eyes crimson as tears streamed down her cheeks, raising her head high in an authoritarian tone. She then looked at me, almost as if she needed support.
"For someone so small, Denise Morrigan, you have quite a forceful tone," the woman giggled.
Denise's eyes widened, glancing at the woman, perplexed. I cast a peek around the room at the others, who appeared to be as perplexed as she was. Ariel stood alongside her brother, who seemed to have glimpsed a ghost. Pitt appeared to be as mystified as ever. Ella took a step back as I felt the warmth of her breathing behind me, and Charlotte... well, Charlotte was just being Charlotte at this point.
We all remained silent, but concentrated on what she had to say. Soon-ly, the woman began to speak again:
" To answer your question, Aries and Denise... some of you have been having nightmares for weeks...possibly months, and you know about this better than anyone else in this room."
His face strayed into oblivion, Aries shivered, as if processing the words that poured out of her tongue. Ariel seemed apprehensive as she stared at her brother. Then it all made sense.
He wasn't my friend, and I'd prefer to keep it that way for the rest of our lives. He always seemed to have it easy in life; he had all he desired and yet yearned for more. That guy truly irritated me. I've known him long enough to affirm that he's a snobby little bastard. with his ideal life and circle of friends. Even when we were friends a long time ago, he always looked down on me- and I hated him even then.
I'd known him long enough to realise that he wasn't himself tonight before the turmoil began and everything got out of control. He was usually a shallow little doll. But on this particular night, he seemed... different. He flashed us his false smile earlier that evening, his overacting was beyond belief, donning his beautiful social mask to conceal his genuine and unattractive true self.
He's been acting like this way for weeks, like the woman had mentioned. I should've picked up on it.
"So, you've been suffering nightmares every night as well? Why didn't you say something to me?" Ariel sobbed as she snatched her brother's arms and shook him back and forth, attempting to reacquaint him with reality. Her cheeks were flushed with rage and bitterness.
"It's not like you'd tell me if you were having them yourself... Stop pretending to be concerned when you aren't." Aries screamed at his sister, yanking his arms fiercely from her gentle and delicate hands, yelling at the top of his lungs. I was so furious by this attitude that I hollered:
"Listen, Elsa! not everything is about you, okay? your sister just wants to help you! fucking jerk! -" I felt my hands tighten as I peered into his eyes, and my face began to warm.
"Says who?" He pointed his finger at me, laughing uncontrollably as if accusing me of a crime. "You're the one who acts like you are too big for your boots!"
"STOP," the woman yelled as she abruptly stood up and gazed at us, ruthless.
"Now... please bear with me as I continue. Your dreams are not really a coincidence. What you're going through is the result of the efforts of someone truly evil." The woman continued; her brows furrowed in response.
"Who?" charlotte inquired, almost as if she had discovered some delicious gossip. The rest of the group stared at her, unsurprised
"Some of you have been targeted by them for a while.... my sister," I chuckled as I glanced at the woman, puzzled. What the hell is going on here? Is she expecting us to believe that some goth lunatic has the ability to make people have nightmares? What on earth am I witnessing?
The woman glanced at me as if she could hear what I was thinking, then turned around and looked at everyone else with a disdainful frown on her face.
"I feel like if I just tell you what's going on, you guys won't believe me... so I'd rather show you," she exclaimed, raising her palm in a sweeping gesture in the air. Everything around us began to shift all of a sudden. My head started feeling heavier. The entire world seemed to whirl in front of my eyes, and all of the furniture appeared to float around like gravity didn't actually exist. The lights flashed on and off, and the walls surrounding us appeared to be dissolving like soft plastic.
I attempted to regain my balance by reaching for any available surface, but everything seemed to be changing beside my eyes. I looked around to check whether anyone else was going through what I was experiencing- and they were all dissolving as well.
"Charlotte!! Please take my hand!"
"What the hell is going on!"
"My heart is pounding! please make this stop!"
the others screamed, and I was terrified. I looked at Pitt, who had the same horrified expression on his face as I did at the time. We were all dispersing like sand in the desert being blown by the wind. steadily but graciously.
Only that woman stayed intact, floating in the air as if nothing else mattered.
When I looked around again, the others were vanished entirely. Everything had gone fully. Everything, including the furniture, the walls, and the ceiling.
I looked down and saw that I was also flying in the air. Was it all a nightmare? Maybe all of this turmoil was simply a post-hangover delusion, and I never truly left my house in the first place. I tried pinching myself as hard as I could, but it didn't work. I was still floating in the air, surrounded by nothing but darkness and confusion. As if anticipating my reaction, the woman floated in front of me and smirked.
"What the hell have you done to my friends?". I yelled aggressively at the woman while i stared at her with a nasty expression on my face.
"Don't be concerned, young man! There's a reason I separated you all. It will be better this way...things will be completed more quickly, and we will save time and effort."
The strange woman swept her arms around the air while she spoke. There was nothing but turmoil around us; everything was pitch black and silent, with exception of my screaming. It was also quite cold. My muscles began to sag as they tried in vain to keep me warm. While the woman moved her hands, the darkness began to shift in front of my eyes. Slowly, a sense of lightness began to emerge. There was a burry figure in the centre of the light that I couldn't tell what it was at the moment. The woman dragged us up close to it, and it began to take shape. In the centre of the light, the shape of a kneeling human appeared. I glanced closer and saw a woman holding her hands to her own heart, which was where the light emanated from. All of her lightness had come from within. Her hair was long and dark, as if it were made of the chaos of non-existent matter. Her black dress was a stark contrast to the radiance that shone from her heart. I assumed the entity in the centre was the same being responsible for everything, although they appeared to be different.
"What you're seeing is how the planet came into being."
"What?" I cried; my gaze fixed on her in astonishment.
"This is how the world came into being! God is the woman at the centre, as you humans call her!" -she grinned as she pointed to the woman, who was still clutching her chest as if it were her source of life.
I returned my gaze to the woman, "God" in the centre. She snatched her heart out of her chest and poured the light out of it. Initially, the light was little and formed like a sphere. It became bigger and brighter until the darkness was nearly totally gone.
My body felt warmer as the brightness grew brighter. My eyes watered as I covered my lids to avoid being dazzled.
All of the light concentrated in one place, and the sphere began to tremble violently... until it exploded. The explosion itself happened very quickly, and what followed next astounded and amazed me. Things moved along with the blast. Even planets appeared out of nowhere as galaxies formed and stars shone. What was once dominated by chaos had become our universe as we know it. Countless stars shone, supernovas exploded, and planets formed; everything began to happen at once and at a breakneck speed.
"Okay, I get it. You are all mighty and powerful! But I don't see how witnessing the formation of the universe adds anything to what you're trying to say."
We travelled through a supernova, which made me I scream and shake my hands over my head.
"Have you always been like this?" she asked.
Things began to change again around us, and a floor created itself beneath us. The sky began to take shape and the slow-growing grass arose in time with the trees. Flowers sprouted quickly, and creatures began to appear. The figure of "God" reappeared, but this time she was right in the middle of it. She whispered to the air as she softly stroked the grass and plants flourished, creating a pleasant and gentle breeze that swept against the trees.
A loud noise could be heard coming from the newly created forest. While running towards "God," the shape of a small girl arose. She hugged her tightly and murmured, "I love you."
"The child you see in front of you is said to be the first goddess birthed from Dabria-"
"Who is Dabria?"
"Your God, as you people call her, was the first God to ever exist when there was nothing but chaos. Pay attention! the others don't ask so much questions like you do" The woman glared at me impatiently as she fiddled with a stray strand of hair that had rebelled against her hairstyle.
"What will happen to the girl?" I asked, curiously with a wide smile on my face as I watched her interact with the other creatures.
"When our mother started having more children, everything changed," the woman said, uncomfortable as she looked around. It was the first time since the beginning of this drama that she appeared vulnerable and sorrowful. The setting shifted once more, and the world transformed too.
Civilizations evolved and fell as humans appeared. Cities grew, and empires arose and fell. Wars beginning and ending. In a span of seconds, I watched events that took decades to occur. Our surroundings took on the appearance of a palace, with golden walls that shone cruelly across the hall and leaves blowing from the ceiling. Two women were spotted storming down the hallway. The first, who bolted from the other as if she were prey being pursued by a predator, appeared to be younger than the one following her.
Both of the women were exquisite. The one that appeared to be older had a long hair as dark as night, styled in a beautifully long braid. The one who appeared to be older had long, dark-brown hair done in a lovely braid. Her garment was sewn in a distinctive blue pattern. Her face boasted sharp features that gave it an intriguing aspect. She came out as forceful and adamant regarding getting what she wanted. The other appeared to be a little softer. Her hair was golden and bright, and her face was round and pale, reflecting the dim light that shone over the passageway. Her clothing, which was fashioned in a peach tone went well with her eyes, as green as the leaves falling from a tree.
Tears streamed down her face while the other woman screamed fiercely. Her eyes were sorrowful and bitter as she glared at the woman she was chasing and screamed, "I detest you!" " Because of you, she no longer loves me as much!"
I was perplexed by that scene. My spine stiffened as I remembered having a similar debate with my mum. I'll never forget her disappointed gaze as she told me, "I wish I'd never had you."
"You know it's not true, Bacia," the other woman said as she came to a halt and turned around to face her.
"Stop behaving like a fool; you and I both know that our mother only had eyes for me before you were born.... I was important back then- until you showed up!"
Bacia screamed as our whereabouts began to shift. She floated in the air with rage and fury and the leaves flew violently, the wind growing colder.
"The puzzle in my thoughts began to fall into place as I realised the woman in front of me was the girl from the prior vision." Her child-self appeared happier and more alive back then, contrasting on how she did now. That made me feel empathetic towards her. After all, some of us do loose our spark as we grow up.
As Bacia's magic became stronger, the atmosphere became heavier.
Both of them were taken aback when "God" appeared out of nowhere. She cried, "Heavens!" "What's going on between you two?", her gaze falling on both of her daughters, who bowed respectfully and fearfully. Bacia gazed at her mother, as if she wanted to say something, but she clenched her lips sealed. The other woman was less astonished than her sister, who had previously attempted to eliminate her.
"What will happen next?" I inquired; my curiosity piqued.
"Nothing," the woman interrupted abruptly. "You've seen enough"
We were in the heart of a battleground this time. Blood flowed in the air and swords swung around. Men roared with bravery, yet their eyes were filled with anguish.
"What the fuck?" I screamed as I moved about, hoping to catch a sight of the previous vision.
"How am I meant to comprehend what's going on if you won't let me see the whole thing?"
"I only showed you what you were allowed to see," the woman added, "there are some things you are not allowed to view for your own sake."
"How convenient"
The goddess from previously reappeared on one of the battlefield's distant corners, accompanied by two other women who I imagined were her sisters. One of them, a massive, robust lady clothed in animal fur from head to toe except for her face, dashed towards the mob of men and their bloodied weapons, causing the earth beneath us to shudder. She was three times the size of her sisters, who were already taller than the typical male, causing her to stand out among the crowd. She swung her spear in a precise circular motion in the air before crashing to the ground, triggering an earthquake. Men flew through the air like a swarm of bowling pins. As a result, both sides of the battlefield lost troops. Weapons swung in the air in perfect, disturbing rhythm as the remaining soldiers attacked each other.
On the other hand, one of the other sisters seemed extremely feminine yet no less powerful than the other two. Her hair was similar to Ariel's, long and flawlessly white. Her black gown was embellished with modest needlework in the shapes of the moon and stars, as well as various creatures. She drifted in the air, pointing in the other direction of the field, and the sky darkened suddenly. A solar eclipse had now engulfed the battleground. With the eclipse created by the woman, night creatures emerged, ruthlessly striking the enemy side until they seemed to retaliate.
There was a loud explosion. Bacia erupted in rage from the far end of the opposite side of the battle. The ground underneath us shook once more as a result of the explosion's impact. It also supplied brightness, making the newly established night appear to be day once more.
Bacia raised her hands in the air, and the ground split open, revealing a chasm so large that I thought I glimpsed the gates of hell itself. The earth swallowed nearly all of the men that fought against her troops with a single motion made by her. While the soldiers were falling, screaming could be heard.
She proceeded towards her sisters, closing the newly opened soil crate. In comparison to all the aggression I had already observed, this was a simple gesture. While Bacia moved approaching them, the three sisters gave each other advice. The giantess was about to swing the spear again when the others stopped her, glancing at each other as if to say, "hold, not yet." "Let's see what she has to say," I chuckled as I leaned forward in anticipation. Without even asking, the woman accompanying me recognised my interest and altered the vision once more.
"What the hell is the problem with you? old hag? "As my face flushed, I solicited.
"I can't show you what occurs next, but I can tell you what happened" she replied, calmly.
"Your explanations are pointless," I opined. "Nothing assures me that you will not distort the facts to make your side of story appear more enticing."
"Listen, boy, there's nothing I have to hide from you and your sad little mind. The only reason for this is that your mortal genes are limited in their comprehension." The woman growled angrily, disgustedly glaring at me.
In a fit of rage, I felt my muscles tense up. I may be a pathetic mortal, as she labels me, but I am no fool.
"There it is!!" I continued: ". "This is the first completely genuine reaction you've given me since the whole nonsense began."
"You fool, don't put me to the test-"
"Are you going to tell me what happened?" I remarked. "Might as well deceive me if you're going to do it." I grinned and crossed my hands around my arms, a deliberate move meant to irritate her.
For a brief minute, I believed she was going to kill me when she looked at me.
"So, as I previously indicated, Bacia felt bitter as our mother began to have more children-"
"I can't blame her,"
"Heavens!" she cried, "things began to deteriorate in our family; every one of us was born for a specific purpose." For example, Eda, the giantess you saw, is the goddess of war. The other two are Aoife, the night goddess, and Naida, the goddess of nature."
"And what are you the goddess of?"
"My name is Adriella, and I am the goddess of angels and other angelic creatures. Returning to my original point. Bacia grew up without any particular abilities, and as a result, she felt resentful and enraged at the rest of us. She tried innumerable times to prove herself worthy of our mother's affection as the eldest of all of us and yet the only one who was powerless. One after the other, attempts that failed."
"Wow"
"She roamed the cosmos for aeons, looking for something unique, something that would make our mother proud."
"Did she discover anything she excelled at?"
"She did discover something that changed her... something horrible"
