Kara felt icy spines run down her spine and looked at Jimin and Namjoon. The two nodded that they understood and knew that someone was watching them.
She continued rummaging through the hangers, pretending not to notice the unwanted presence. Her eyes fell on an amazing pair of lingerie that she was sure would drive Hoseok crazy.
She picked up a white pair, determined to wear them under her wedding dress, and headed for the cash register, looking around as if she was looking for more. Her eyes fell on a man on the opposite side of the store, his hood pulled low and pretending to be rummaging through his phone.
“Across from the store…” Jimin nodded and Namjoon stood behind her, shielding her from the man's view. "Time to go back" he whispered, but Kara shook her head. "I want to know who sent him" she insisted and Namjoon sighed.
"Jimin will take care, let's go!" Namjoon grabbed her forearm but she pulled her hand away. "I'm not a kid Namjoon oppa!" Kara hissed and took the bag from the cashier's hands with a smile.
"Kara, please, if anything happens to you, your father, brother, and Hoseok will chop me up and feed me to the fish!" Namjoon pleaded softly. "Except right now, I'm the one with the knives, oppa!" Kara smiled coldly and watched as Jimin slowly approached the man.
"God!" Namjoon groaned theatrically, rubbing the base of his nose. "Can't we just go home?" Kara shook her head. "Of course not!" she smiled sweetly and walked towards the exit of the store. Jimin stopped at a distance from the man, waiting for his next move.
She headed to the next store, secretly watching the man who walked parallel to them. Something about him seemed familiar to her, the way he moved, but she couldn't remember who it was.
She walked into a men's fashion store, looking at the ties and shirts. "Will Hoseok like this one?" she showed Namjoon a black silk shirt and he eyed it appraisingly. "I like her." he nodded as if that answered her question.
Kara rolled her eyes and glanced at the man again, then at Jimin. He stalked him, waiting for a signal from Kara or Namjoon.
"Let's go!" Kara took the shirt, paid the cashier, and walked briskly to the door of the elevator that would take them to the underground parking lot. Namjoon sighed in relief and followed her.
The hooded man didn't follow them though, instead, he entered another men's fashion store and Jimin looked in their direction for instructions. Kara thought for a moment, but then called out to him and he nodded.
"What do you want?" Kara asked coldly, startling Namjoon and Jimin. She stood with her hand on the door of their car, not moving or turning around.
"Can't I visit my niece without reason?" Kara shook her head. "We both know there's a reason behind your every visit, Giovanni Lysandre!" she turned and looked blankly at the hooded man.
Namjoon and Jimin stood on either side of her like guard dogs and the man laughed. "They're really cute, but it's not bad to keep them on a short leash." Giovanni smirked and Namjoon gritted his teeth.
"You look beautiful Kara, congratulations on the wedding." Giovanni crossed his arms over his chest. "I asked what do you want?" Kara replied sharply and he raised an eyebrow.
"Nothing yet when the time comes I will tell you, for now I just wanted to say hi." Kara narrowed her eyes and smirked. "If you have nothing to say, I suggest you catch the first flight and hide in some hole in Italy." her cold voice cut through the silence of the parking lot and Giovanni burst out laughing.
"You're just like your mother, carino!" he walked towards her but Namjoon and Jimin blocked his way. "Do not call me that!" Kara growled and stepped between her two guards, coming face to face with her uncle.
"Carino? Why not, your mother used to call you that as a baby. You used to love playing on my lap!" Namjoon and Jimin looked at her in shock, but she just shrugged.
"Then I was a child, I still did not know what betrayal and duplicity was!" Kara looked him up and down coldly. "I wonder what made a cowardly rat like you surface, but I won't insist you tell me." Giovanni cocked his head with a sneer, making an offended face.
"Ouch, even your mother wasn't that biting, carino, but like I said, it's not the time yet." he bowed like they were at a ball, looked Namjoon and Jimin up and down, and with a shake of his head, walked away, back into the elevator.
"Who was that?" Namjoon asked. Kara gritted her teeth, staring angrily at the elevator door. "Giovanni Lysandre, my mother's brother and my uncle." Kara replied in a low voice, trying to suppress the impulse to follow him and kill him.
"Uncle?" Namjoon looked at her quizzically, she nodded and took a deep breath. "Let's go, I need to relax." Namjoon nodded, forgoing any more questions for now and opened the door for her, waiting for her to settle in before he took the passenger seat and Jimin the driver's.
"Where's Hoseok?" Kara turned to Jungkook, who nodded towards the office door. "But there is a meeting." he warned and Kara nodded walking over.
She walked into the office and four pairs of eyes turned on her. Kara looked around the three visitors, recognizing each one of them. They were all heads of families who worked with Hoseok, but to her, even now, they were of no interest.
Hoseok narrowed his eyes, noticing her tension. He tilted his head questioningly and held out his hand to her. She took it and he placed her on his lap, continuing the meeting, ignoring the looks of the three men upon them.
Hoseok was soothingly stroking her back as he talked business with the three men who answered nervously, not used to the presence of women at such meetings.
Everyone knew that Jung Hoseok adored his fiancee, especially after the tournament, there was no doubt about that anymore. But the open display of feelings was not something that was often seen in their circles, and it made them very nervous.
Most took it as a sign of weakness and the three looked at each other meaningfully. Kara shot them a cold look and pouted.
"I wouldn't do it." the three of them looked at her startled and Hoseok leaned back with a cold smile. Kara leaned down, kissed him lightly, then slammed her outstretched palm on the desk with a sharp movement.
The three men stared at her fingers, between which a steel blade flashed, and swallowed nervously. "You see, I get a little nervous when someone underestimates my boyfriend!" she hissed, tilting her head slightly.
"Enough my love, I'm sure they wouldn't think of such a thing. Would they?" he glared at the three who vigorously nodded in the negative.
"Here, you don't have to kill them." Kara nodded and laid back against his chest, and Hoseok turned to the three of them. "I expect everything to be ready within a week and not a day later. You are free now, unless you want to spend more time with my fiancée?" he raised an eyebrow and the three bowed respectfully, climbing out of his office as if they were being chased by a pack of wolves.
"You need to stop threatening people like that, my love." Hoseok laughed once they were alone and held her close. "They thought you were weak! They're lucky they got away with it at all. Besides, I'm not in the mood to be nice…" Kara pouted and Hoseok sighed.
"Why are you in a bad mood? I thought you went shopping?" he tilted his head, scanning her face. "I was and it was fun…" she got up from his lap and pulling her hair over one shoulder stood with her back to him looking out the window.
"Then?" Hoseok propped his elbows on the desk, intertwining his fingers. "Then I saw a man who never bodes well." she bowed her head, resting her forehead against the glass.
Hoseok huffed as he stood up and approached her, hugging her from behind and resting his chin on her shoulder. "And who is he?" Kara gave him a sideways glance and he raised an eyebrow, her eyes burning with icy hatred.
"Giovanni Lysandre." she hissed as his name burned her throat and tongue. Hoseok squeezed her even harder.
"What does he want?" he asked, remembering what Yoongi had told him about her uncle. Giovanni had abandoned his own sister, pregnant and persecuted, to save his head from death.
"I don't know, but whatever it is, it won't end well." Kara sighed, resting her head on his shoulder.
