Best Friends.

Scott groaned, shifting around and nestling his head into his pillow. It was hard under his head, not soft like his favourite pillow, so he frowned slightly. Something told him he wasn't at home. The smell of antiseptics and plastic filled his nose, but something else, too. Grease, oil... pizza, and something indescribable, that brought on a strong sense of nostalgia.

A word floated into his mind. Freddy's. Freddy... Freddy Fazbear's? He was at Freddy Fazbear's?

He pried his sleepy eyes open, greeted with a metal roof. His frown deepened as he slowly propped himself on his elbows, and looked around at all the weird, futuristic-looking gear. It took him a few seconds to realise he was in the back of an ambulance. "Uugh... what-what happened...?"

"Hello, Mr. Adams. I'm going to have to ask you to lie back down for me, please." A voice from beside him. Scott turned to look, and saw a nurse smiling back at him, a young girl with dark skin and pretty eyes.

"What's... why am I...?" Scott frowned, but lay back down onto the gurney, "What's going on?"

"You've just suffered a concussion, that's all," the nurse soothed, "You'll be absolutely fine. Let me just go through some checks with you. Can you please tell me your name?"

"I-I'm... I'm Scott. Scott Keegan Adams. W-Where's Vincent?" Scott sat up once again, "Is Vincent okay? Does he know I'm alright?"

"Scott, please lie down for me," the nurse's voice was slightly demanding, "Your friend is okay, he hasn't been hurt. If you'll just answer these questions, we'll let him come and see you. Are you feeling dizzy?"

"No..." Scott mumbled, lying back down on the bed. "No, I feel fine... Please, let me see Vincent..."

"Your friend can wait, Scott. Do you know where you are?"

"Freddy... Freddy Fazbear's..." Scott frowned, his head spinning. Why did he faint? He couldn't remember. He couldn't remember what happened. All he remembered was finding blood, heaps of blood-

Scott shot up straight again, "T-There's- Someone's hurt! Vincent and I were going to work a-and... there was blood! There was so much blood... Y-You gotta help whoever it is! They might die!"

"Mr. Adams," the nurse rushed over, "Mr. Adams, I'm going to need you to calm down. Scott, listen to me. Scott?"

"W-What are you worrying about me for?!" Scott pointed towards the ambulance doors, which were open, "You've gotta- You've gotta- Someone else is in danger!"

"Mr. Adams, please! Take a few deep breaths, or we'll have to knock you out again," as the words left the nurse's mouth, Scott felt something cold in his arm. He looked down to see he was attached to an IV, and suddenly his mind began to spin.

"What..." He frowned, feeling the fight in himself die, his eyelids drooping, "What're you.... injecting me with?"

"It's just some anaesthetic, Scott. It'll be alright. We just need to make sure you haven't damaged your brain."

"I'm not... I'm not hurt..." Scott blinked a few more times, feeling himself become sleepier and sleepier, "I'm... fine..."

--

"Scott? Scott, are you there? Open your eyes, please."

Scott frowned, an unfamiliar voice shaking him out of his sleep. His eyes pulled open, and he found himself somewhere completely strange, "What...?" He blinked, his eyes focusing on a pretty girl with dark skin and stunning eyes. "Where... am I...? Is this... an ambulance?"

"It's alright. You just fainted, is all. You'll be okay. Can you tell me your name, please?" the nurse asked, smiling.

"Uhhh, Scott. Scott... Keegan Adams, why? Where's.... where's Vincent?" Scott shook his head to clear it, propping himself up on his elbows.

"Your friend is fine. He knows you're okay. Can you tell me where you are?" the girl's eyes were tired, as though she'd been doing this for a while.

"I'm... I'm at Freddy Fazbear's, aren't I? What... why can't I remember..." Scott blinked, "Wait a secon-ACK!" He'd tried to sit up, only to find he was strapped in at the waist. He grabbed the strap and looked over at the nurse "What is this for?"

"You kept thrashing. Please calm down and answer my questions," the nurse replied, "Are you feeling dizzy, Mr. Adams? Do you have a headache, blurry vision, or the feeling that you're going to throw up?"

"No, no, I'm perfectly fine... Just a little tired..." Scott rubbed his forehead, sure there was some memory he was missing. Something about why he'd fainted. His eyes shot open, "The blood! F-Foxy- There was an accident! S-Somebody was hurt!"

"It's okay, Mr. Adams. The situation is being dealt with. I assure you there's nothing you can do to help, except just rest and get better," the nurse raised her eyebrows.

"B-But..." Scott tilted his head, but relaxed into the gurney, "So... Nobody's been hurt?"

"Don't worry. You'll be fully informed of the details once we're sure there's been no internal bleeding." The nurse walked over, and with a few clicks and switches, the back of the hospital bed lifted up, pushing Scott into a sitting position. He looked down at himself and realised he was in a hospital gown. Briefly, he wondered who had undressed him. It had probably been the nurse.

The aforementioned nurse stepped back, "Your friend was very concerned about you. Would you like to see him now?"

Scott let out a sigh almost instantly. Everything seemed so foreign and strange, like he'd woken up in another universe. Seeing somebody familiar would make everything better again, "Oh, please."

The nurse smiled again, and then stepped away from his bed to walk over to the doors of the ambulance. There was another nurse there that Scott hadn't noticed before, a man with black hair. Scott realised it was probably him that changed him, to avoid embarrassment. If only they knew that the idea of a guy changing him was far more embarrassing.

The man with black hair nodded and walked off, and Scott relaxed into the gurney. Now he knew Vincent was on the way, and that would make everything better. He smiled, and closed his eyes.

Barely twenty seconds later, there was huge sound. Scott jolted out of sleep, and barely had a second to recognise the purple blur before it had tackled him. "Scott, thank goodness you're okay! I was so worried. They wouldn't let me see you, but I tried. Really. I tried until they had to threaten me with a taser."

Scott laughed, wrapping his own arms around Vincent's body, "Only you would do something stupid like that, Vincent."

Vincent pulled away from the hug, gazing into Scott's eyes forcefully, almost glaring, "Never, ever, do that to me again, do you hear me?"

Scott chuckled again, rolling his eyes at Vincent's sentiment, "I just fainted, Vin. It's not like I had a heart attack."

Vincent's eyes widened, looking horrified, "Just fainted? Excuse me?! You should have heard the crack your head made when you hit the floor! You started bleeding, Scott! I thought you'd broken your skull, a-and you wouldn't answer when I called you, or shook you, a-and you didn't respond to anything at all until they got you into the ambulance, and they wouldn't let me see you... and..." Vincent leaned his head forward onto Scott's shoulder, "I thought... I thought..."

"Oh, Vincent..." Scott pulled him closer, nestling into his shirt. He stroked his back, "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to scare you like that." He closed his eyes, trying to imagine how awful that would have felt for Vincent. "I'm so sorry..." he paused all of a sudden, "Vincent, are you... crying?"

"What?" Vincent pulled away from Scott's shoulder, "No! No, of course not. I'm..." Vincent wiped at his eyes with the back of his wrist, "No... I'm not crying. I was just... really worried."

Scott reached up with his arm, wiping at the corner of Vincent's eye, "I'm so sorry I scared you, Vincent, but you should know... nothing on this Earth would make me leave here... leave you."

Vincent smiled, and Scott saw his eyes fill with tears again. He blinked furiously, nodding, "Oh, geez, what's with this PMT? I've never been so worried about someone in my life..."

Scott hummed, and opened his mouth to reply, when the nurse cut him off.

"I'm sorry to interrupt," she sniffled, wiping at her eyes, "But I just have to say, you two are so lucky to have each other. I've never seen two guys be closer friends than you. You should treasure it. That kind of friendship is so hard to find."

The male nurse nodded in agreement, "You don't see many guys openly voicing how they feel about their friends any more. There need to be more people like you."

Scott and Vincent blinked at the nurses, absolutely bamboozled.

"Well..." Scott said at last, "You're not wrong." He looked up at Vincent, raising an eyebrow, "After all, a good friendship is the basis for all relationships, right, honey?"

"You know it, babe," Vincent grinned, and leaned in, tilting his head as their lips met. He slid his arms around Scott's back under the sheets, eyes shutting as Scott's fingers went to tangle in his hair. God, he thought he'd never feel those lips against his ever again. The tears threatened to break through again; he was just so glad to feel Scott in his arms, alive and well.

He pulled away to wipe his eyes once more, "I love you, Scott. I'm so glad you're okay."

Scott laughed, leaning in to kiss Vincent's lips another few times, "Oh, Vincent. You are soft on the inside. I love you, too."
