chapter seven.

the fall

Adelaide tapped her finger on the counter of her home as her brother, Aiden, made her some dinner. Their parents were out getting drunk, the normal thing for them.

He looked up at her. "Addie," he said softly, dishing some food onto two plates for them. "Are you okay?"

She nodded. She wasn't but she wasn't gonna admit that. "Just tired."

He sighed, nodding. "Okay but theoretically, let's say you weren't. You know you can talk to me about anything right?" He said. "I know Christine's death was hard on all of us, but you especially. And now you aren't even seeing your friends."

"They aren't my friends," she interrupted, looking up at him as he handed her a plate. She took it and began eating.

He took a seat next to her. "What?"

"We aren't friends anymore," she said quietly.

"Adelaide... they've been your friends since..." he stopped to think about the answer.

"I've been friends with Richie since 1st grade, met the rest of them after that," she interrupted, looking up at him.

"Okay so, here's my point proven," he told her. "Whatever stupid reason made you guys stop being friends, isn't worth it Ads."

She shrugged slightly. "Bill punched Richie."

"Bill Denbrough?"

"The one and only," she said quietly. "Now everyone's pissy."

Aiden slowly shook his head in confusion. "Why would Bill do that?" He asked.

She looked up at him. "Long story," she started to explain but was interrupted by the sound of the phone ringing. Aiden sighed and walked over to the phone, answering it. She started to eat a few bites of dinner.

Aiden looked over at her. "Addie, it's for you," he said quietly. She stared at him.

She got up from the kitchen table and walked over, taking the phone from him. "Hello?" She said into the phone.

"Addie!" The sound of Richie's voice was on the other end.

"Rich?" She questioned. "What is it?"

"Bill needs us," he explained. "It's for Beverly, we're all going to Neibolt's house."

Unfortunately, Adelaide knew exactly what It meant. The clown got ahold of her own friend. "I'll be there," she said quietly, looking over at Aiden, and hanging up the phone. "I'm gonna go..."

Aiden nodded slowly. "Okay," he said, the only reason for letting her go was to rekindle her relationship with her friends. Little did he know the danger his little sister was getting into.

Adelaide walked out the front door, her hands shaking as she picked up her bike. She wasn't ready for this, but she couldn't give up on her friends.

They all met up at Neibolt street, dropping their bikes in the front, Stanley being the only one putting his kickstand up.

Mike had a gun on him, that he used to kill the animals in his barn, but Eddie still had a cast.

"Guys, spikes," Bill told them as he grabbed some and put them into his bag.

Richie picked up a glass bottle and broke it on the railing to the steps, getting the group's attention before dropping what was left onto the ground.

Adelaide looked at Bill. "Ads, thanks for coming," he said quietly.

She smiled. "Of course," she said before they all walked inside. Rats could be heard squeaking as soon as they opened the door. Bill luckily had a flashlight so they could see.

Adelaide glanced around before she heard Ben. "Stan?" His voice questioned, and the group turned. Stanley was stopped in the doorway.

"Stan, we all have to go," Bill told him, glancing over at him. "B-B-Beverly was right. If we split up like last time, that town will kill us one by one. But if we stick t-t-together, all of us, we'll win. I promise."

Adelaide looked over at Bill, before looking at Stanley. "It's okay, we're gonna be okay."

Stanley nodded slowly and stepped inside, joining the rest of the group. The house was full of cobwebs just like the last time. They made their way to the basement, where there was a well.

"Hey, Eddie?" Richie questioned. "You got a quarter?"

Eddie sighed and shook his head. "I wouldn't want to make a wish in that fucking thing."

Bill shined his flashlight down and Ben glanced down. "Beverly?" Ben called, his voice echoed through the well, but no response.

"How're we supposed to get in there?" Mike asked, looking around at the group.

"Looks like we only have one choice," Adelaide mumbled as she looked down. The group through a rope down and Bill was the first to start climbing down.

He was followed by Eddie, who was helped by Mike, then Richie, Adelaide, Ben, and Stanley. Mike was last left, as he was helping everyone down. "Guys, guys help," Ben said as he started to fall into the small hole that was in the middle of the well.

They pulled him into the hole. "All right buddy?" Richie asked as Ben landed on him.

"Yeah I'm okay," Ben mumbled. Suddenly, Mike could be heard screaming.

"Mike!" Adelaide was the first to yell his name, followed by the rest of the losers.

"You okay? Mike!" Stanley yelled.

Suddenly Henry Bowers appeared at the top of the well. "Bowers," Richie said.

"Mike. Fuck," Eddie mumbled. Henry started to laugh manically as he pulled the rope up.

"No, no, no!" Bill yelled.

"Grab it!" Eddie yelled.

Adelaide made a reach for the rope, nearly falling in the process, but Bill caught her and the rope was gone. They continued to scream for Mike.

"Leave him alone!" Richie yelled. The most that they could hear was Bowers mumbling to Mike.

"Run, Mike!" Stanley yelled.

The struggle could be heard above them and they all screamed for Mike. "Bowers let him go!" Adelaide screamed. "Please!"

"I-I-I should get up there," Bill told them.

Adelaide turned to him. "Are you crazy? No way there's no way up, you'll fall," she told him.

"With what?" Richie yelled.

Henry's heavy breathing could be heard and Mike's gun went off, but that's it. Suddenly Bowers came flying down and Mike leaned over the edge.

"Holy shit!" Eddie screamed, and they all looked up.

"Mike!" Adelaide yelled.

"I'm okay!" He yelled down, gathering his stuff before his ammo happened to fall over the edge. "Shit."

Eddie and Richie turned to look back. "What?" Eddie questioned.

"Where's Stan?" Richie asked as Mike joined the rest of them.

"Stanley!" Eddie screamed.

Adelaide looked around. "Stan!"

They started moving down the tunnel, looking around for Stanley or Beverly. "Shit, grey water," Eddie mumbled, gagging slightly.

"Stan?" Ben questioned as they hopped down into a larger area of what seemed to be a sewer system.

"Stan!" Bill yelled, the losers made their way around the tunnels in hopes Beverly or Stan would show up. That's all they could hope for, for their friends to be alive... and ok.
