chapter one.

— summer break

Adelaide walked out of class with her friends. Bill's younger brother, Georgie, went missing a few months back, but now that summer was here all Bill wanted to do was look for his brother.

"There's this church full a jews right? And Stan has to take this super Jewey test," Eddie explained.

"How does it work?" Bill asked.

"They slice the tip of his dick off," Eddie answered.

Adelaide shook her head "You are so stupid," she said.

"Well then Stan will have nothing left!" Richie exclaimed.

Suddenly Stan pushed Adelaide and Eddie to the side and squeezed between them. "Guys! Hey!" He exclaimed.

"Hey Stan?" Bill questioned, "What happens at your test anyways? It says they cut the tip of your d-d-dick off,"

"And I think the rabbi's gonna pull down your pants," Richie added, "And turn to the crowd and ask where's the view!"

"I read from the Torah and and I make a speech, then suddenly I become a man," Stanley explained.

The group went silent as they passed Henry Bowers and his gang. "Think they'll sign my yearbook?" Richie joked. "Dear Richie, sorry for taking a dump on your backpack last month. Have a good summer,"

The five of them exited the school and walked over to a trash can and began dumping their backpacks out. "Best feeling ever!" Stanley exclaimed.

"Yeah?" Richie said, "Try tickling your pickle for the first time,"

"Hey what do you guys wanna do tomorrow?" Eddie asked as he put his backpack on.

"Start my training," Richie told him.

"What training?"

"Street-fighter."

"Is that how you wanna spend your summer?" Eddie asked, "Inside an arcade?"

"Beats spending inside your mother!" Richie said and put his hand up to Stan, who just shoved it down.

"What if we go to the quarry?" Adelaide suggested.

Eddie raised an eyebrow, like he was agreeing. "Guys we have the B-barons," Bill stuttered.

"Right," Stan agreed.

"Betty Ripsom's mom..." Eddie said, gazing over at the front of the school. The group turned in there direction.

"Does she really expect to see her come out of that school?" Stan asked.

"It's like Betty Ripsom's been hiding at home the last few weeks," Eddie added.

"Think they'll actually find her?" Stanley asked.

"Sure, in a ditch," Richie said, "All decomposed, covered in worms and maggots, smell like Eddie's moms underwear,"

"Richie!" Adelaide hissed as Eddie groaned in annoyance.

"Shut up," Eddie groaned.

"She's not d-dead, she's m-missing," Bill said.

"Sorry Bill, she's missing," Richie corrected.

Richie let out a heavy sigh and began walking with the rest of them. "Y'know the Barron's aren't bad who doesn't love splashing around in shitty water,"

Suddenly Henry pulled Richie's backpack back and pulled him to the ground, he ran into Stanley knocking him down as well.

"Nice," Patrick said, throwing something.

Another one of Henry's friends burped in Eddie's ear, causing him to gag.

Henry grabbed a hold Adelaide's arm and threw her to the ground. Adelaide fell against the cold, hard ground.

Henry shouldered Bill as he walked by. Richie stood up with Stanley, sticking his hand out for Adelaide who grabbed ahold of it. He pulled her up. "S-Suck Bowers!" Bill said quickly.

Henry slowly turned back towards the group. "You s-s-say something B-b-Bill?" Henry mocked. "You got a free ride this year because of your brother, that rides over now," Henry paused, staring into the distance, at a cop. "Summer's gonna be a hurt train for you and your faggot friends,"

He licked his hand and wiped it on Bill's face. The group gathered closer as they watched Henry and his friends get into a car together. "Wish he'd go missing," Richie said.

"He's probably the one doing it," Eddie concluded.

Adelaide sighed "I uh, gotta get home," she said.

Bill nodded, "B-bye Addie," he said.

Richie grinned at Bill as Adelaide walked away. She rode her bike home, or to what was named 'home'.

Adelaide quietly opened the door and shut it, slipping her shoes off at the front door.

"Adelaide!" Her mother shouted, Adelaide flinched and turned in the direction of the yelling.

"Yes?" She asked as her mother walked into the room, drunk, and sickly looking.

"Make sure you clean the kitchen tonight and anything else that's messy," She said.

Adelaide nodded "Okay," Adelaide said quietly as her mother turned and walked away. Adelaide walked upstairs to put her bag against the door of her closet.

She sighed as she sat on her bed, laying back. But the sound of water swooshing out from somewhere, caught her attention. She sat up quickly. "What the hell?" She mumbled. She hopped off her bed and looked around to see water spurting out of a pipe and into her bedroom.

She knelt down in front of it, the water hitting her knees, she covered the pipe with her hand, which stopped the water for a moment, before it started spitting out faster. Adelaide jumped up and rushed to her door.

It was locked "No! No- shit!" She yelled, "Help!" The room was flooding quicker by the minute.

She had a fear of water, her chest tightened as she banged on the door. The door flew open revealing her parents, she watched the water run out. But they weren't phased by it.

"Adelaide! What the hell is going on?" Her father asked, anger growing in his voice.

"The water- don't you see it?" She questioned.

"Is this about your sister?" Her mother asked.

Adelaide stared at them "The water! I'm soaked look at my room!" She exclaimed, breathing heavily.

Her parents exchanged glances "This shit is exhausting Adelaide, stop it," her father said angrily.

Adelaide frowned as her parents, who seemed completely oblivious to her soaking wet room, walked away.

Adelaide looked at her window and went over, unlocking it and climbing out. She was supposed to meet her friends, they just had to go get Eddie first.

Adelaide climbed down her house, she had a rope ladder before hopping on her bike, riding to Eddie's. Richie and Bill were already there so she tossed her bike to the ground and approached Eddie's house.

Eddie greeted them and lead them to the kitchen and Richie started raiding the cabinets.

"Take everything except the delicious deals guys, mom loves them," Eddie told them, Eddie looked at Bill, "Hey, first you said the barons and now you're saying the sewer. I mean what if we get caught,"

"We won't," Bill insisted, "The sewers are p-public works, we're the public aren't we?"

"Hey Eddie," Richie said, "These your birth control pills?"

Eddie rolled his eyes and shut the cabinet, "Yeah and I'm saving it for your sister," He said, "This is private stuff,"

After gathering a few things the group walked to the front door. "Eddie bear," Sonya Kaspbrak, Eddie's mother, called out. "Where are you boys off to in such a rush?"

"J-just my house, b-b-backyard Mrs. K," Bill answered nervously, "I got a new,"

"A new croquet set," Richie finished quickly, "Just spit it out B-B-Bill,"

"Okay," Sonya said, "And sweetie, don't go rolling around in the grass, especially if it was just cut, you know how bad your allergies can get,"

"Yes mom," Eddie said.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" She asked as they were about to leave. Eddie walked over to his mother hesitantly as Richie giggled and gave her a kiss. They met with Stanley on the way to the sewers.

As they walked in the direction of the sewers, Stanley was pointing out plants he assumed to be poison ivy. "Stan, just shut up," Adelaide said.

Stanley rolled his eyes and Adelaide just grinned, but Stanley seemed off when he was around her, and she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Little did she know, he knew her secret.
