chapter one: meeting thalia
okay, this book is a sorta horror, well that's what i'm going for so. please enjoy.
Standing on her hill and looking down at the people of her little town, Thalia couldn't help but think how easy it is. How she could kill them all one by one and none of them would suspect her, not a single person would point the finger and blame her. She always had that good girl look about her, and that didn't change when she started slighting throats or cutting heads off. Mind you it is her job, but they didn't know that, and she still enjoyed the kills. After her parents died when she was five she changed, not in the way of changing her look or becoming a drug addict oh no. She became something else, Something worse. And she was proud of what she did, it made her happy to see the fear in her victims eyes before she would finally end her fun and kill them, made her giggle in glee when they begged and plead for their lives or the lives of their loved ones. As much as people say they would put their family first, they don't. In Thalia's line of work she would know, but more people would throw their family under the bus to save their own tail, as sad as that is. And Thalia loved making those ones suffer more than the rest, hearing them squirm was worth the effort and time in the end.
Watching the towns people walk around and chat amongst themselves she came to realise just how little she interacted with them now days, but when she did they treated her like royalty, why she did not know, she was as far from royalty as they come but she didn't complain. She liked when they just left her alone, and that wasn't all too often. Seeing that Thalia was watching them, a family with two small children waved not knowing they may have just been bumped up on her 'to go' list. Eyeing the ground for some fun she decided to take her chances with the butcher for the day, the butcher was a lovely lady that even Thalia couldn't bring herself to harm, and she had tried, more than once as it was. But the town butcher, Mrs mily, was a widow for eighteen years now, and was married for almost twenty five. she was in her sixty's and was the mother figure that Thalia missed sometimes, though she would never dare say anything like that out loud, most of the time Thalia didn't dare say anything out loud out of fear that they would notice her voice did not belong to royalty or a goddess but more of the devil or death himself.
Walking past many smiling faces, faces she couldn't wait to mangle and destroy one day, she made her way to the freeze shack, the local butcher shop. Mrs mily was working as always, behind the counter serving costumers and cutting meat, and every time Thalia came in she could just imagine the feel of cutting off some civilians face with that meat cutter and tasting the blood that splattered into her open mouth. Seeing Thalia Mrs Mily smiled that motherly smile, the smile that made Thalia feel dirty and evil for what she had done, for what she continues to do, but Mrs Mily doesn't know of any of that because if she didn't that smile would become a grimace and that was something Thalia knew for sure and she didn't want to test her theory out for real. Attempting a smile back, Thalia walked over to the old lady and gave her a one armed hug, and started slicing up the meat. "how is my little Tali bug today?" said Mrs Mily. Now Thalia was never good at conversation, but with Mrs Mily she tried. She tried to do a lot of things with her. "good, the house has been fully paid off and the old land lady finally stopped doing the check ups at last." not mentioning that the land lady had 'accidentally' been chopped in half while she was grabbing her fire wood for the fire place a few nights ago, " oh that's lovely. i know she was a real spitting neanderthal on the best of days, not to mention a right royal pain in the rear end. If it was up to me, she would of been fired and shipped away a long time ago." she went on, trying her best to replace the swear words for the alternative more child friendly words, she was strongly against anything resembling a potty mouth. " Mrs Mily, i respect you know what your talking about, but i don't think if you had a say the out come would have changed at all, and the decision is really something that had to be thought through." maybe the out come would have been different, she thought to herself, the old hag would have left her house with her body intact and not in a plastic body bag that was currently stashed somewhere in her back garden. "Thalia ! how many times do i have to tell you. Please call me Penrith, only people that come and go call me Mrs Mily, and you my dear child are not someone that's going to come and go in my life. I raised you, there for i am not Mrs Mily i am just plain old Penrith. Is that understand Thalia." She looked up to realise Mrs Mily was giving her a levelled stare. lowering her eyes she answered in her smallest tone not wanting to show how she really felt to the slight disrespect, "yes ma'm." Thalia looked up when she felt a hand grab her own,"good girl, now you run along and find something to do, my sisters past away not long ago so her son and his best friend are coming to stay in a few days and i want them to feel right at home.." raising an eye brow and Thalia did as she said and asked no questions. Up until now she didn't even know mrs Mily had any siblings. or that those siblings had children, and now two are staying, in her home town. She didn't know how she felt about this, outsiders coming into her place, snooping around, things may get dangerous very quickly. But she has to protect her secret first and for most, and if that means killing the children of the late sibling of Penrith, then that's what she had to do.
