~T W O~
When I managed to open my eyes, everything was turned upside down. The car was flipped, and I was pretty sure I at least fractured or broke a rib because it was getting harder to breathe and moving felt like electric bolts moving through my body. Thankfully all my appendages were still attached, though I am pretty sure something is broken and I was probably concussed.
I looked over to see my mom still unconscious, with blood dripping from her head.
I tried to unbuckle myself in order to try and get to her, but once I finally managed to get free my body hit the roof of the car and I was just met with more pain.
I crawled over to my mom checking for a pulse, which she had.
"Oh thank God you are alive," I breathed out a sigh of relief.
I carefully looked around to try and find one of our phones, and call for help.
Mine was shattered to pieces and my mom's was sticking out of her bag that was thrown into the backseat.
I tried to reach the phone in pain and unlocked it. I saw the battery life and it was only on 5%.
I tapped the buttons 911 and waited for an operator to pick up.
"Hello, 911. What is your emergency?"
"Yes! Hello, my mom and I got into a car crash. Our car flipped and she's still unconscious. Send an ambulance!"
"Okay ma'am stay calm, tell me where you are and we can send help."
"We are-"
Before I could tell the operator our general location the phone died and lost signal.
"NO! No, no, please turn back on!" I pleaded.
Without realizing it, tears started streaming down my face. I tried to crawl over to my mom and get her unbuckled in order to drag her out of the car.
Like hell we were going to die out here.
I managed to get her free to where she was laying on the ground.
Then all of a sudden, I heard faint sirens in the distance. The red flashing lights getting closer to us.
Someone must have passed by and seen us, or maybe the 911 lady was able to track our location through the phone before it died. No matter how they got here help was coming. There was still a chance for us.
The ambulance stopped a little ways from our flipped car and I painfully managed to try and crawl over to them to let them know where we were.
"Please help! My mom is still unconscious," I choked out.
I started coughing and notice my mouth tasted like metal and then saw the blood that was dripping out from the corners of my lips.
Well fuck, that can't be good, I thought to myself.
I could feel my energy slowly starting to fade away as I rolled over to my back staring up at the night sky.
My eyelids started to feel heavy. I guess the little adrenaline I had was now gone and I was fighting from slipping back into unconsciousness.
I then noticed a figure standing above me. I could make out it was a man.
He didn't say anything but managed to get me onto a gurney and wheel me over to the flashing ambulance.
Once I was in the abundance, I looked over to get a better view of the man when I noticed he didn't look much older than me.
He had a mop of dark black wavy hair that covered a bit of his eyes that I noticed were a piercing blue. The kind of blue that if you stared at them long enough you could feel them bore into your soul.
He was wearing a EMT uniform I presumed and while I was busy analyzing him I noticed he shut the doors to the back of the ambulance.
He still hadn't said a word and began to put a breathing mask over my face and a needle into my arm.
I was already so weak but I had to let him know that my mom was still there and to help her.
I tried to move my arms but they wouldn't cooperate properly, so instead I just managed to choke out "My mom...you need to help her."
He looked over at me while connecting the needle that was in my arm to some type of IV.
"Don't talk." Was all he said in reply to me.
Now I haven't ridden in many ambulances or know many EMTs to judge this person accurately, especially in my current state, but this guy, seemed cold. His face looked determined but there was something else hiding beneath it that I couldn't get my finger on.
That and I noticed I never saw his partner. Usually they have 3 EMTs to a rig right? Or maybe I passed out a bit and missed him?
I felt the ambulance start to move but I couldn't see the driver. I looked over to still see the guy working and tried to look for a name tag but he didn't have one.
"What's your name?" I managed to speak through my hoarse through.
He looked at me again with a look of surprise and confusion.
"You don't have to worry about it." He simply stated.
"Please..." I coughed out.
He sighed, "Eric. My name is Eric."
I managed a small smile, I knew I owed this man my life. Both mine and my mom's.
My eyes glanced over to the liquid from the IV bag moving through the tube and into my arm. I started to feel even more tired and incoherent than before. Something still didn't seem right, wasn't this dude supposed to keep me awake and talking or something? At least that's what they do in all the TV shows.
"Hey...what is...in this stuff," I breathed out harshly since it was still difficult to breathe let alone talk.
"Don't worry, soon you won't be able to feel a thing," he replied.
Okay, now something definitely didn't feel right. I tried to grab the needle out of my arm with what little strength I had left, but he noticed and restrained my hands with the straps attached to the gurney.
"I'm sorry about this, but try not to fight it," he calmly said to me.
Shit, now I know this can't be good.
He then increased the dosage of the liquid and moved a white blanket over me to cover my entire body.
I couldn't scream, or kick or defend myself in anyway, which I hated. But even if I could I'm sure he would have no problem subduing me.
I then felt myself slipping back into unconsciousness, I couldn't fight it anymore. The last thoughts running through my mind before I was pulled into a black abyss, was that I was going to miss my mom and friends.
If this was how I was going to die, then I would try my hardest to come back as a ghost and haunt this asshole for killing me.
