Hetalia, Just Being Honest
So today on YouTube, FUNimation uploaded the ending to season 6, the World Twinkle. And when I was watching it, to be honest, it deteriorated my excitement a little bit.
When Hetalia was in its prime and had a different drawing style than now, there was great comedic value to the show, and I could rewatch Axis Powers and World Series until my eyes bleed (same goes along to the movie). When I finally watched The Beautiful World, my initial reaction was, "Okay, it's not so bad! I could get used to this!"
But as it dragged on, I couldn't really remember why I was watching, or what the point behind the episodes was. I didn't find season 5 all that entertaining, nonetheless funny. I think I mainly stuck around to give he new animation style a chance.
Back to when I was watching the ending of season 6 today, my smile had turned into a straight face, then into a small frown. What is there really for the series to touch on anymore? I know that it bases itself off the manga, but the anime itself usually takes its own unique turns. I personally feel like The World Twinkle is going to be a bit of a let down, for when I eventually watch it, when the dub is released. I love Hetalia, I truly do; I just don't think it could get any better than when it was in 2008, in its heyday. In my opinion, I feel like it's gone down hill a bit. And that also brings up the fandom itself, but I'll leave that for another time.
To rap up, this entry is simply my own opinionated thoughts- please don't complain in the comments or try to pick a fight if you're a huge Hetalian. I am a Hetalian myself, but the franchise has its flaws, mainly the anime.
Anyways, to all the Hetalians out there, voice your opinion! What do you like best about the anime/manga? What was your favorite moment? Do you agree with me about its success rate and appeal? Please let me know of what you think, I'd love to start a discussion!
