6. Shatter Me
What did my dad do? What did he just do? Can I possibly believe that all he had done happened in front of my innocent eyes?
The layer of innocence I had for my father, it peeled off and fell in front of me.
"Stewart!" my mum yelled, creating a big scene. When she realized what happened, she stopped herself. Then she took several deep breaths. The crowd seemed to settle themselves down. Then she spoke;
"I thought we were way past this." my mother said softly, pulling the hem of his collar. Unable to control herself, she broke out into sobs.
I pulled her into my embrace. Her sobs were unstoppable, her tears were warm on my shoulder.
My father put a hand on my mother's shoulder. I brushed it off swiftly and motioned my mother to follow me inside the airport to retrieve our luggages.
My father, our family's pillar of strength, pulled his ex wife; Brielle into a lip-lock kiss in front my mother's and my eyes.
My father was reluctant for a divorce at first, but when Ollie was placed under his care, my mother made sure a divorce was made. Surely, my dad had been having affairs with her. He still cared for her. If I wasn't mistaken, she lived here, and also was here for Ollie's funeral.
It was a lot to swallow, the fact that my father having affairs, the fact that my father might never come home again, it made tears well up at the corner of my eyes. But I had to stay strong and optimistic. I couldn't keep losing the people that I love.
My mother and father had a luggage to share, while I had my own. My mother pulled out the black bag obnoxiously, and patiently waited for my luggage to come.
"You shouldn't have seen that, baby, I'm sorry, I couldn't stop it." my mother told me, wiping her tears from her cheeks.
"Don't fret about it, mum. It wasn't your fault after all."
"Actually, you're right." my mother said, full of energy, cupping my cheeks in her palms. She smiled so wide, I felt the pain of her cheeks in mine.
My blue luggage arrived soon after and my mother helped pull it out. I heard clicks of a shoe- as if someone was running and turned around to see my father.
"Alexi, it was nothing like that. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it. I love you true and whole, I didn't expect her appearance." my father told my mother.
"Is that so, Stewart? Because you seemed like you knew about her arrival in the airport before hand, and you were keen on seeing her, based your rushed movements after the plane landed. If you don't mind Stewart, I don't need some more heart breaks. I have a funeral to attend." my mother replied sternly, pushing my father away. She grabbed my hand and pulled me along with her.
My father stopped me.
"Honey, don't say you're on your mother's side. Ollie is your brother too, he's my son. I love you all. It's just, Brielle, I-"
"You?" I asked. My mother pulled me away. I pushed her hand off mine. I wanted to listen to what he had to explain.
"I, she wanted to meet me, to clarify her previous affairs, come clean. I wanted to know the truth you know. And her eyes, brought back so many memories. I couldn't hold myself. Look, I don't want to drag you into this. Please, this is the truth." my father said, sighing.
I felt embarrassed that we had to clarify things in public, so I managed a small nod before catching up with my mum who had walked far in front.
My father didn't catch up with us which made me doubt his true love for us. I mean his love for us had been a lie after all.
My mother hailed a taxi and we headed off to the hotel we were supposed to stay in. We were lucky that my mother made the reservations, not my father, like he usually would.
We were only going to be here for a few days, yet, we had booked a room in Richardson Hotel & Spa.
It was typical, they were so materialistic.
We arrived at the hotel about an hour later. I was tired, sad and disappointed. I just wanted to sleep.

We checked in soon after, we got a suite. I put my luggages in a room and walked over to the master bedroom, where my mother was. I heard sobs as I was approaching her room.
"Mum?" I asked, concerned, walking towards her on the bed, crying.
"Honey, I'd really appreciate some time alone." my mother told me.
"Sure, mum. I'm going to check this place out."
I heard her sniff, which was probably a sign of agreement to my question.
I pulled out my sling bag from my backpack and packed my phone and earphones. I also didn't forget to take a key card from the holder.
Closing the suite's door behind me, I found my way to the lift. I pressed the button while patiently waiting for the elevator to arrive at my floor.
While waiting for the lift, I got out my tangled earphones and started entangling them to kill time.
Ollie's funeral was not until tomorrow, until they completed an autopsy on his body to make sure he wasn't drunk driving or anything.
Yeah, the feels started kicking in.
I held back my tears as the lift door finally opened.
The lift was empty when it opened. I slowly walked inside. I brushed off a tear that accidentally rolled down my cheek. I pressed the close button.
However, before the lift shut, a hand caught it. The lift immediately opened.
"I'm so sorry. I should've waited for my turn of the lift instead." someone apologized. Before his voice processed in my head, a familiar face was brought upon me.
This wasn't happening. I was dreaming right?
