1. Stars Aligned

As I lay my head on the back rest of the car's seat, my eyes started to roll. It was a long day of packing up the last of our things before leaving to our new house in Scarborough, Toronto. My body defied me as I slowly sank into a deep sleep. My two ears were engulfed in The Weeknd's album; 'Kiss Land'. It was soothing enough to make my sleep more relaxing.

"Gigi, wake up, we're here!" I heard Anwar shout as my dad's car pulled up in front of a bungalow.

Was this really our new house? I was stunned, it was a house every little girl dreamed of. The only irony was that I wasn't a little girl, but I still was astonished by the beauty of my new house, how it captivated my heart, I immediately fell in love!

"Come on guys, start unloading your things! The moving truck will be here soon enough." I heard my dad say as he rushed to unlock the golden-coloured gates. I moved my eyes above me to get a clear view of the surroundings above. Very flattering.

I heard the truck approach soon after my father had opened the gates and shuffled us inside.

Moving myself out as the movers arrived, I took gulps of fresh air as I swallowed  the new environment, while chewing on it slowly.

While I was still outside, I stared at a boy who did the same. There was a truck unloading things into his house and his parents were gave out orders to those men.

He's walking towards me, what do I do? Shrieks of panic imploded in my brain! Social anxiety coming through!

I quickly turned my back against his house, pretending to absorb my surroundings.

"Hey there, I'm Dominic." he introduced himself as he extended his palm for my to shake.

I received his palm and shook it.

"I'm Gigi."

Despite my social anxiety kicking in, I felt a weird connection between us. I didn't feel any 'awkwardness' between the conversation we just had.

"So, you just moved in, huh?" he asked me.

"Kinda is the obvious, ain't it?" I chuckled as I shoved my hands into the pockets of my sweater, its' warmth grasping me in it's hold.

He laughed for a bit, and continued; "Me too, maybe you should come over later for tea? My mum makes the best cookies!"

"Sounds like a plan." I said as he waved back at me upon walking across the street to his new house. As soon as he went into his house, I walked into my new one.

The living room was spacious yet unwelcoming, it needed a touch of cleansing and repainting. The furniture was already set in place but the dull-coloured paint was ruining the pretty image that the living room could possibly portray.

I lazily pulled myself up the never ending steps of the spiral staircase at the corner of the living room and found myself on the second floor of the bungalow. There were four rooms, perfect for all of us; Ollie, Martin, Anwar and I. I was pretty sure there were two more bedrooms downstairs; one for mum and dad and another for Darlene; our maid.

"Honey, find yourself a room, Martin and Anwar have already picked theirs. The last room belongs to Ollie, when he comes back." my mum told me as she shook my shoulders and pulled me into an embrace.

She was so happy that we finally moved here, because the schools were better here and her boss offered her a higher pay in this branch of their hair saloon. My dad on the other hand was still on the phone with one of his colleagues which messed up some electronics in his office. Since my dad had taken the day off today, he was finding it a struggle to keep up with the numerous reports which vibrated his cellphone every minute.

As soon as I was pulled away from my mother's embrace, I walked towards the room at the end of the floor. The room on the right was far more appealing. The walls were splashed with a stash of rainbow colours and it enlightened the room so much. The bed was a king-sized bed, the window faced towards Dominic's house, possibly his room. My things were all arranged in the same manner it was in my old house. The only thing that hadn't arrived yet was my poster of The Weeknd, which I had gotten signed during his LA tour. It was one of my precious belongings because I worshipped Abel, and his inspiration.

Now that we were in Scarborough, it was closer for me to attend any of the concerts that he organized in his hometown.

I jumped on my fluffy bed and my thoughts drifted to Dominic. He was hot! From his wavy dark-brown hair to his light-blue eyes, he had attracted me in a way no guy ever had, ex including Martin Wallstrom, a Swedish actor.

His tall body was lean and slender, his voice was deep and ever so sexy. I smiled at the thought of my thoughts.

Just then, I heard a small knock on the door. At my door, there was a small man holding my poster that was well framed.

"Excuse me, Miss, where shall I place this?" he asked with an innocent voice.

I couldn't bring myself to reply him so I walked over and took the poster from his hands and placed it on the floor at first.

His clothes were torn and tattered and his hair was ragged. Out of sympathy, I rummaged through my backpack and found a ten-dollar bill. I gave it to him and managed a crooked smile.

"Oh, you don't hav----" he stopped when he saw me crossing my arms.

He thanked me several times before making his way downstairs.

He was probably around my age, but he wasn't as rich as us to buy fancy things, so I opted to help in the smallest way possible.

With the small amount of strength I had in me, I carried my heavy poster and placed it on the nail on the wall, next to my bed. I straightened it and moved a few paces back. I dusted my hands and crossed my arms. I nodded my head in satisfaction of my work.
