My Body (ASWATI2000)
My Body
My body is my mine,
And it is mine alone.
You can claim it
If you claim my mind.
It's my body,
So you need my consent;
Before you touch it or claim it,
It's not yours to play with,
It's mine and mine alone.
And so with the sacred thread
And the vows of togetherness,
Do you think you have the claim upon me?
When you use my body,
Toy with it, Hurt it,
Ruin it or claim it,
It is not I who grants the permission,
You assume to have the consent
Just because you tied the sacred knot
The thread can strangle me
Just like the rope on the ceiling.
But my body is mine
And it is mine alone.

A/N: By a sacred thread, I refer to the Hindu custom of marriage. I am not against marriage but I believe that marriage doesn't give someone the permission to exploit a woman's body. Marriage is a matter of consent and permission. This poem is about marital rapes!
