soulmate colour-blind AU
A/N this is just a short little writing sprint, nothing special. i saw a prompt on tumblr of that scene in the greatest showman where Zac Efron sees Zendaya and BAM insta love, the op said 'imagine this as a colour-blind soulmate AU' and i need to ritie it.
Wally West would never say his home-life was ordinary.
His father owned so much damn property he could probably amalgamate it all into a small city's worth of land. He also had served in the army and sailed around the world. His mother collected silver spoons and jewellery that was too extravagant to be worn but just beautiful enough to be considered works of art.
And he liked to write plays. God awful, emotional plays that always ended with the bad guys winning. Plays that were the beacon of cold, dark and dreary.
His parents said he'd grow out of it, it was a faze. He'd meet a nice young girl that brought colour into his life and he'd never look back.
He didn't want to meet a nice young girl.
So when Pop Haley walked into the bar he was drinking in and waxed poetic, he had to admit he was... interested.
And now...
He'd guided him through his circus. Wally wondered what it looked like in colour, but even in washes of grey it was fantastic. He'd never considered himself ordinary but this was... well, this was spectacular.
And as they climbed up the stairs, out onto a mezzanine, Haley showed him his trapeze troupe. A family act. They swung along the bars, flying really. Gravity had no control over them unless they wanted it to.
And as he strode out onto the mezzanine, someone swung out towards it.
A man, probably his age, lean with tanned skin, dark hair and-
And blue eyes.
Bright blue. Sky blue, sea blue, sapphire blue, every kind of blue sparkling in his irises. Glitter scattered through his hair, a costume with a bird spread across his chest, a scarf around his waist.
Wally's breath rushed out of him, his body went numb, his hand drifted to his hat as he took it off. Eyes wide and meeting the trapeze artist's own.
And oh gosh he was beautiful.
The spell was broken as he swung back, gravity taking him away.
Wally turned to Haley, eyes still lingering on the trapeze.
"who is that?" he breathed.
Haley gave him a smile, mischievous, "who?"
Wally whipped his face to him, "the- the boy with the blue eyes, he's..." Wally turned back, "wow."
Haley chuckled, patted him on the shoulder, "I'll introduce you."
