Harley Quinn- Gratitude (c)
When Harley turned up on your front door in tears, it was an oddly familiar sight. Almost every fortnight she would turn up after an argument with her boyfriend and turn to you for comfort and a place to stay. Normally it'd last a night and then she'd run back to him, glad to have his attention even if their relationship was the perfect example of an abusive relationship. No matter how much you tried to get her to leave him, she refused, and you knew you'd have to just wait until she was ready to leave him before she'd make that jump.
This time it was different. She was holding two overflowing bags and you were pretty sure there was a bra on your path that must have fallen out of her bag. Tears ran down her cheeks, her makeup askew and hair in a state.
"It's real this time," she sniffled. "Mr J kicked me out, I grabbed what I could."
You didn't fully believe that he wouldn't come calling for her but for her this was painful and very real so that was how you would treat it. You ushered her into your home, letting her discard her stuff in the hallway and fall into your arms. The hug was one sided as she smeared her makeup into your shoulder with her tears. You got her to the sofa where you waited for her tears to slow down enough that she could talk to you.
"What happened Harley?" You asked.
"I don't wanna talk about it," she cried. "I don't know what to do Y/N, what do I do without him?"
"I don't know Harley," you said honestly. "But until you have somewhere to go or a plan, you're more than welcome to stay here."
Your biggest fear wasn't that she'd have nowhere to go as you knew you cared too much about your friend to send her out on the streets but you were rather worried about all the people she had wronged who would no longer have a reason to hold back their anger towards her. You didn't want to worry her yet though, likely no one else knew about the separation and if they had heard they wouldn't believe it was for long; for now you just wanted to make sure she was comfortable and happy in your home.
At your generous offer, Harley let out a squeal, a toothy grin curling onto her face even through her tears. To show her gratitude she flung her arms around you, pressing her brightly coloured lips to your cheek as she thanked you for all you did for her.
