04. Unexpected Encounter.

DAYTIME STAR
chapter four - unexpected encounter.

THE NEXT MORNING, SU-JIN WOKE UP feeling well rested and refreshed. The peaceful sleep had made him feel better, and he couldn't wait to start the day.

As he stretched and yawned, his eyes saw the sketchbook he had left on his bedside table the night before. He gently touched the cover, smiling a little.

Su-Jin got out of bed and started his usual morning routine. He went to the bathroom, splashed cool water on his face, and brushed his teeth quickly. When he looked in the mirror, he liked how his glasses made his delicate face look smart.

After changing into clean clothes, Su-Jin went to the kitchen. He could already smell his grandmother's cooking. "Good morning, Grandma," he said warmly.

Kim Hye-Ja turned around and smiled at him. "Good morning, dear," she said, pointing to the table. "Sit down, I made your favorite."

Su-Jin happily sat down and looked at the food in front of him. There were steaming bowls of rice, tasty side dishes, and a hearty stew. It was a big, delicious meal.

As they ate, Su-Jin and his grandmother chatted comfortably, telling stories and teasing each other gently. Su-Jin was amazed at how his grandmother always knew just what he needed, whether it was yummy food or someone to listen to him.

When they finished eating, Su-Jin helped his grandmother clean up, even though she tried to stop him. "I've got this, Grandma," he said, shooing her away.

"You've done enough."

Hye-Ja nodded gratefully and went to the living room. Su-Jin finished cleaning the kitchen, then grabbed his bag and headed for the door. Before leaving, he gave his grandmother a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Have a wonderful day, dear," Hye-Ja said, her eyes shining with pride.

"I'll be back grandma!" He waved his hands and started running to his school.

AS SU-JIN HIS WAS ALREADY IN HIS SCHOOL, he couldn't help but pause and admire the beautiful sky above him. The clouds danced gracefully, their edges tinged with a golden glow from the sun's rays.

Suddenly, the peaceful moment was shattered as other students began to run for cover, the pitter-patter of raindrops filling the air. Without hesitation, Su-Jin reached into his bag and pulled out his trusty camera, determined to capture the moment.

He snapped a few shots of the trees, their leaves glistening with raindrops, and the clouds, their shapes shifting and morphing as the sun's rays filtered through.

With a satisfied smile, he carefully stowed his camera away and reached for his umbrella.

"I could really go for some strawberries right about now," he mumbled to himself, his mouth watering at the thought of the sweet, juicy fruit.

As Su-Jin made his way through the rain, he was startled by a voice calling out in the distance.

"Oh my! I'll be running late! I'll get going! I'm sorry! Bye!" a girl shouted, dashing out from a small shelter near one of the school buildings. Su-Jin didn't get a good look at her face, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of deja vu.

Shrugging it off, he continued on his way, only to be startled again by a shout from a boy.

"God, if I had a heart condition, I'd be dead by now," Su-Jin thought, his heart pounding in his chest.

"What?!" the boy exclaimed, his voice laced with frustration.

"Hey! Hey! Where are you going?" he shouted, his gaze fixed on the retreating figure of the girl.

Su-Jin recognized the boy as Sun-Jae, he has seen him around school but never really spoken to him.

"Ah. She just took my umbrella," Sun-Jae mumbled, sighing heavily as he prepared to run through the rain, his bag held above his head in a futile attempt to stay dry.

Without thinking, Su-Jin stepped forward, extending his own umbrella towards Sun-Jae. The boy looked startled, clearly not expecting anyone to have heard his conversation.

"Ah, do you need an umbrella? Well, my umbrella is quite big, so I think I can help you out," Su-Jin said, his voice shaking slightly with nerves. He wasn't used to initiating conversations, especially with people he didn't know well.

Sun-Jae stared at him for a moment, then nodded in acceptance. "Ah," was all he said.

"Ah, where are you heading, by the way? I can..." Su-Jin began, only to be cut off by Sun-Jae.

"Ah, to the gymnasium," he replied.

Su-Jin nodded and fell into step beside Sun-Jae, his arm starting to ache from holding the umbrella at such an awkward angle.

"Why is this guy so freaking tall?" he wondered, sighing inwardly.

As they approached the gymnasium, Su-Jin felt a sense of relief wash over him. He looked up at Sun-Jae, who seemed to be just as shy as he was.

In front of the gymnasium, Sun-Jae cleared his throat, drawing Su-Jin's attention. The taller boy's neck flushed red as he met Su-Jin's gaze.

"Thank you for your help again. I owe you," Sun-Jae said, his voice sincere.

Su-Jin shook his head and waved his hands in front of him. "Oh, no, it's fine. It's a small thing, you know," he replied, smiling warmly.

Glancing at his watch, Su-Jin's eyes widened in horror. "Ah! I've got to go! I'm already late for my first class! See ya!" he exclaimed, waving his hand as he dashed off.

"Thank you, Su-Jin!" Sun-Jae shouted after him, causing Su-Jin to stumble in surprise. Sun-Jae chuckled at the reaction, a fond smile on his face.

As Su-Jin ran, he couldn't help but wonder how Sun-Jae knew his name. Glancing down at his uniform, he facepalmed as he realized that his name tag was clearly visible.

"Right," he muttered, shaking his head at his own forgetfulness.

BORING, IT WAS BORING TO SU-JIN he was just randomly drawing while his professor was discussing. He already knew this topic, not to brag but he was smart. Literally smart.

He sighed and just drew random things like birds, eyes, trees, etc.

But as he kept sketching, his hand seemed to have a mind of its own. Without realizing it, Su-Jin found himself drawing a face - a face with features, full lips, and sparkling eyes.

His drawing is almost done.

He worked hard, frowning as he made the drawing look perfect.

Suddenly, one of his classmates spoke up. "Wow, your drawing is amazing! Look at all the details!" the classmate said, peeking over Su-Jin's desk, amazed.

Su-Jin felt his cheeks get hot with embarrassment as he looked up at his classmate.

"Thank you," he said softly.

Quickly, he flipped the page, hiding the sketch.

"Why did I draw that again?" he scolded himself in his head, his heart beating fast.

"Stop it, Su-Jin!"

To distract himself, Su-Jin looked out the window at the beautiful world outside. The rain had stopped, making everything look shiny and fresh.

The trees swayed gently in the breeze, their leaves making a nice sound.

In the distance, Su-Jin could see the sun coming out from behind the clouds. Its golden light made everything look warm and cozy. He watched as a bird flew by, its wings cutting through the air easily.

These quiet, peaceful moments were Su-Jin's favorite. He felt grateful for the beauty around him and couldn't help but smile.

When the school bell finally rang, Su-Jin felt relieved. The morning had been full of surprises and distractions, and he was ready for some quiet time.

Carefully, he put his things away, gently placing his sketchbook in his bag.

Su-Jin left the classroom, looking for a nice, peaceful spot to draw and take pictures. He knew just the place - a quiet corner near the school gardens, where he could hear the leaves rustling and the bees buzzing. It was the perfect spot for his art.

As he walked through the busy hallways, Su-Jin felt excited. Break time was when he could really focus on his creative projects, without worrying about classes and assignments.

When Su-Jin reached the alcove, he was happy to see it was empty, except for a few flower petals on the ground. He sat down on an old bench and took out his sketchbook and pencils, ready to create.

For a moment, he just took in everything around him - the bright flowers, the sunlight peeking through the leaves, the gentle breeze. It was all so beautiful and inspiring.

Su-Jin opened his sketchbook to a blank page and started drawing, his pencil moving smoothly. As the picture came to life, he felt calm and peaceful. This was his special place, where he could forget about the stresses of the world.

Satisfied with his sketch, Su-Jin took out his camera and adjusted the settings. With a light press of the button, he captured the scene in front of him, the colors and shadows perfectly preserved.

Looking at the photo on the camera screen, Su-Jin felt proud. It showed the beauty that surrounded him, a reminder of the little joys in life.

He put the camera away and turned back to his sketchbook, already thinking of what to draw next. He could spend hours here, creating art, and he loved every minute of it.

With a happy sigh, Su-Jin started sketching again, his pencil flowing across his sketchbook.
