DAYTIME STAR
chapter one - echoes of a melody.

IM SOL LAY IN HER HOSPITAL BED, her eyes fixed on the ceiling as tears streamed down her face. The accident had left her paralyzed from the waist down, and the thought of living the rest of her life confined to a wheelchair was overwhelming.

Suddenly, the radio in the corner of her room crackled to life. A cheerful DJ's voice filled the room, followed by the sound of a popular idol group being interviewed. Im Sol's ears perked up, but she quickly lost interest as the conversation turned to their latest album and upcoming concerts.

Just as she was about to tune out, the DJ interrupted the interview to announce a special segment. "And now, we have a special caller who will get to talk to our guest, Ryu Sun-jae from Eclipse!" The room fell silent as Im Sol's phone rang, and she groaned in frustration.

"Why is this happening to me?" she muttered to herself, but before she could hang up, a warm voice came through the line.

"Hello? Hello, is anyone there?" Ryu Sun-jae's voice was gentle and soothing, and Im Sol felt a pang of curiosity.

"Who is this?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I'm Ryu Sun-jae from Eclipse," he replied.

"I'm so glad I got to talk to you. You're the lucky winner of our radio contest!"

Im Sol's anger and frustration boiled over. "What contest? I don't even know who you are!" she snapped.

Sun-jae chuckled. "I'm the lead vocalist of Eclipse. We're a new idol group, and we're really excited about our music. But I'm glad you're upset. It means you're still alive."

Im Sol's anger gave way to sadness. "You don't understand," she said, her voice cracking. "I've been in an accident. I'll never walk again."

There was a moment of silence before Sun-jae spoke again. "Hello, You're still listening, right? I'm so sorry to hear that. But...Thank you...for being alive."

Im Sol felt a lump form in her throat as she listened to Sun-jae's words.

"The ones by your side...will thank you for that. You know that it will rain tomorrow...then wait until the rain stops and stay alive today. Because It's so nice outside." when she heard that her tears started forming.

"Then, someday a day might come when living doesn't feel so bad." When he said that through the radio she didn't hear anything after, she just stared at her mom and started crying. Her mother immediately embraced her daughter and started patting her shoulder and kept saying.

'It's okay and everything will be fine.'

No one had ever spoken to her like that before. No one had ever told her that her life was worth living.

"Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Years later.

IM SOL WHO IS STILL IN CLOUD 9 STARTLED when she sees the watch inside her box with glass blink. "What was that?" she opened her box again and checked it.

She picked up the watch and saw it with her eyes. She blink, "Did I just hallucinate?" she questioned herself and put it back again and sighed.

She smiled again when she met her idol earlier. Too many events that happen like, she didn't get a job, didn't see her idol sing on stage because she lost her ticket.

But maybe God sees her struggle! So that she and her idol meet up on the bridge! She slapped her cheeks checking if real, she never contented and slapped the other side of her cheeks.

"Ah!!"

She was so happy!

Im Sol became a fan of Ryu Sun-jae because of his music. She loved his voice and the way it made her feel. In the hospital, when Ryu Sun-jae thanked her for being alive and encouraged her to stay alive, saying, "Stay alive. Because it's so nice outside."

That conversation of his idol impacted Im Sol, who had lost the will to live after an accident left her paralyzed. Ryu Sun-Jae's words of consolation helped her find a reason to keep living, and she became a devoted fan of his music and the idol group Eclipse.

She picked up her phone and started scrolling, her lips twitched.

"Ah this never ending fake news." she said and she ignored it, well she sees multiple articles about her idol. More of them are old.
