XXV. Summer Love
Countless nights, filled with summer's warmth
Unbound from the shackles of life.
Her laughter and smiles filled my mind
Until nature eventually lulled to sleep.
The light would pierce through the windows
My eyes winced and stung.
However, my heart still fluttered
While the trees would smile and wave.
Before I could smile back
The vibration in my pocket shifted my world.
The girl from across the planet blinded me
More than summer's embrace ever could.
Days would pass
Frowns were a fragment of my past.
Somehow, the ends of my lips were still in pain
All the smiles came to a halt.
My heart was pouring warmth
It was replaced by frost.
The girl was pouring love
It was replaced by desolation.
The light lost its shine
My eyes still struggled to open.
I smile and wave to the trees
However, they were all fast asleep.
I tread to the outside once again
Just to meet winter's embrace.
Summer had left but I knew we would meet once more
My world had also gone, but that I couldn't accept.
My heart had nothing left to give
Perhaps summer will understand.
