CORMAC DOYLE, despite being only twenty-three years old knew a life containing only grief and sorrow. A life of pain and sadness. A life which despite everything turning upside down on him, he preferred to look at in a positive light.

He had been plagued with illness from a young age. It wasn't so much physical sickness which affected him but much rather mental. Onset psychosis was never an easy diagnosis to give to an eleven year old boy, who was already afraid of the world. Cormac knew that his symptoms would worsen as his life progressed and eventually not even medication would be able to fix it but that was a long way, away. If anything, Cormac's condition only inspired him to enjoy life more and to it's fullest. Whilst other people his age were worrying about SATs and exams, Cormac spent most nights curled up sofa with his mother watching reruns of disney films.

When he started medical school was when things began to go down hill for Cormac. The hallucinations and voices had begun to get stronger and his mother had gotten rather ill. Lung cancer. Cormac had warned her that smoking two packs of cigarettes wasn't good for her but in the end, her addiction just got the better of her. 

He missed his mother dearly. She was a big part of his life - not to say that his father wasn't a big part of his life, ot was just his mother was more understanding of his career and condition. Cormac's father, what could be said about the man. Nothing much really, Cormac barely knew his - left the day he was born to marry his secretary and then return back home to the son he had abandoned for the funeral of the girlfriend he left. His father wasn't even the slightest bit understanding of his condition leaving Cormac to fend for himself.

Despite the tragedy that had occured, medical school was a breeze for Cormac. Well that would make sense since he was like a walking medical textbook. 

The dating world hadn't been easy for Cormac. Once a date caught a glimpse of the pill bottle on his bedside table, they took off running. He knew it would eventually come to him being alone without a partner, but he didn't expect it so soon. Maybe his dates found him just a little too vulnerable and looney.

And friends. It wasn't like Cormac had many of them. No one really tended to stick around long enough once they found out about his condition. Cormac hadn't even experienced voices and hallucinations in years thanks to the medication.

But no one would seen him other than the weirdo who needed to be locked up.

Not that it would ever get that far.

With his first year of surgical residency ahead him turmoiled will heartbreak and grief, he was bound to fit in. This would be a new start for him, away from where everyone knew him as the psycho and where he would be recognised only for his hard work and effort in the medical field. Nothing could go wrong.
