Chapter 4

"So, how's it going being a manager? Are they handsome? Anyone catch your eyes?"

Byeol had an amused smile on her face. She was sure her friend was having the time of her life, fantasizing about a budding romance between herself and an idol. Her head was filled to the brim with red rose petals.

"I'm good, thanks for being so interested in how I am doing."

"You're welcome," her friend sang.

Byeol shook her head. "The work is fine. I have to observe a lot, but tomorrow I'll be left on my own for the first time. I feel like I'm finally starting work."

"That's great! And the members are good to you?"

It was quiet.

"What? They're not? Are they being rude to you? You want me to fight them!?"

"No, no! No need for that," she forced a laugh, "It's not that they're not nice. They're polite, but they're always quiet around me. Maybe they hate me."

"Hate you? That's a bit too much. You just met them a week ago," Haneul tried to reassure her.

"Exactly."

"Okay, maybe they just need to warm up to you or something."

"Haneul!" A distant voice shouted in the background.

"Oh, got to go! We'll talk about this later, bye!"

"Bye!"

The call ended, which left Byeol to prepare for the next day. She was even more stressed about tomorrow then she ever was.

To TXT's delight, Jung Hoseok - also known as J-Hope from BTS - was visiting their assigned dance practice room for today. A professional idol was going to personally help them!

It was both nerve-wrecking and an exciting experience.

"I'm nervous," one admitted.

"Me too," another agreed, not being able to stand still.

They were lined up as if they were soldiers who would be inspected by a superior officer. They finished their dance routine, so all they needed to do was wait for their senior's professional criticism.

A young lady stood aside, near the doorframe, while she held a clipboard in hand filled with documents. She skimmed through it but put it aside on her chair.

"My water bottle is empty."

This is what caused her to put it down.

"Seriously, how much water did you drink?"

"Are you that nervous?"

They silenced their arguing when the young lady walked towards them. Her face was blank, so they couldn't tell if they angered her. Or if her emotions were just that: blank.

She held out her hand. "I'll go fill it," she said.

It wasn't a suggestion, and the boy knew that. He handed the bottle to her hesitantly. He stuttered out a 'yes, ma'am'.

"I'll be back. I need to do some other errands too," she informed.

Once she had the bottle in her hand, she walked out the door. The boy let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.

"Manager Choi is scary," he said and paused before saying, "but she's kind of cool too, isn't she?"

"She is!"

"I first saw her on the elevator. Get this, she was on the phone with someone. Then her voice went deep, and she said: 'Yah, you want to die'!"

The others leaned back, 'wowing' as they did. Some of their eyes went wide.

"Is she out of a movie? Wow, she's so cool."

"Right?"

"So intense."

"Manager Choi really is cool."

Again, they were silenced by the door opening, but it wasn't the manager. It was none other than their temporary dance instructor, Jung Hoseok.

They greeted him with awe and starstruck reactions. He greeted them back too with a friendly smile. His hands were full, holding bags.

Once everyone settled and he handed the gifts, he looked around. There was a chair with a clipboard on, but there was no-one in sight.

"Where is your manager?" He asked as he pointed at the chair, "I was told a manager would be with you today."

"You just missed her. Manager Choi just left a second ago to do some errands."

"I see." Hoseok nodded, "Then, let's get started."

Byeol had been on her way to refill the water bottle, but the closes Water Dispenser was empty. She had to hurry and find another Water Dispenser.

But, at least, this way it seemed like she had to do some other errands. She only said so, because she wanted to take a bit of time to breathe.

She felt awful.

They surely do dislike her. It was clear after what happened just now. They stopped talking when she approached. He didn't even say anything to her.

He was so formal and uncomfortable when I stood in front of him.

They looked so stiff when I was talking.

She groaned, wanting to hit her head on the wall or something. She couldn't stay away either; she wouldn't be doing her job then. She had to observe their progress.

"Whatever, just finish up and get back quickly," she mumbled.

After finally filling the water bottle, she speed-walked back to TXT's dance practice room. Maybe she'd get a glimpse of J-Hope. She heard a lot of praise from her seniors about him.

The way back was painfully long, so she stepped aside for a bit. The door was just around the corner, which allowed her to feel at ease.

The door opened as she leaned on the wall to massage her foot. She had also wanted to adjust her secret-socks.

"Huh? Is someone going out?" She leaned to her side to get a better look. The man that just left wasn't a TXT member, so she assumed it was J-Hope.

"I missed it," she said in disappointment, "And he's too far away to greet now. Why are tall people so fast?"

Byeol groaned.

Everything just isn't going my way today.
