Just a wolf and a prince

Colley Sweep time! (This is of course not canon, but it's nice)

No beta, we die like killers meeting Mamo!

"Jump!"

A splash was heard as a green tail flicked into the air, sending water droplets everywhere. The person who spoke sighed in relief before walking down the rocky steps to reach the edge of large lake he had found. "I'm so glad you're okay."

"Thank you Cole." the being emerged its head from the water. "I needed that."

Cole nodded and smiled. "Yeah, you're welcome Finley. You were flaking so much I was worried you could get hurt from scratching too much."

"I know, as a fish person it's... a lot harder for me to stay on land for long. It makes my oil condition worse, and my skin becomes too dry." Finley gave a sigh. "I hate being on land for so long."

"But the Mist wants you to." Cole frowned and dipped a hand in the water, shivering from how cold it was.

"Yes, that is unfortunately the problem." the former prince of the ocean swam closer to the wolf man. "I'm glad you found this lake though. It's very close to the killer campsite, so I can simply come here to rehydrate my skin."

"Yeah, you can." Cole smiled, making his eyes crinkle slightly. "Now you don't have to worry about dry skin!"

Finley smiled and placed his arms on the edge of the lake, the rest of him submurged in the chilly water. His tail swayed lazily in the water (I HC that Finley has a tail huehue), as his feet stayed motionless.

"Finley?"

"Yes?"

"May I remove your bandage?" Cole gingerly pointed to his own face. "It's likely not comfortable for your face to have wet bandages on."

"Uhm, sure I suppose. Just ask..." Finley sighed in a melancholic way. "Just ask Flores for fresh bandages later. Sometimes the oil won't stop dribbling."

Cole nodded, not saying a thing. He knew how talking about the nurse was very touchy for Finley, given how the guy left him for the newcomer. Kelvin was it? Cole didn't know, they looked the same after a while.

Well, except for Eiji that is.

He gently grabbed the edges of the bandage and pulled the wet fabric off Finley's face. The oil didn't seem to reach his eyes, Cole wondered why he still needed bandages.

Finley opened his eyes, and Cole instantly knew why.

"Finley? Your eyes..." Cole subconsciously cupped the fish man's face to check the damage done to them.

"They've been like this for a long time." Finley sighed.

"Who did this to you?!" Cole was horrified with his finding.

"Humans. Fishermen, I believe. I didn't need them completely to make my way around though. My sense of smell, hearing, and sensing the air waves (concept by: Chaox Reigns!) gave me enough to go around." Finley shrugged. "But... I hardly see anyone's facenow."

"You don't know... anyone's face?" Cole frowned. "Not even... his?"

"I can somewhat make out his face, actually. He and I used to bring our faces close together so I know what his face looks like." Finley sighed and rested his chin on his arms. "I don't mean to bring the mood down but I sort of miss the past."

"...I do too. But we can't turn back the hands of time." Cole brought his face closer to Finley. "Can you see my face now?"

"Somewhat." Finley could only smile and use his hands to press against Cole's cheeks, just inspecting the wolf man's entire face.

Cole chuckled and watched him as he explored his face, squishing and moving his cheeks around. "Pbbt!"

Finley drew back in alarm when Cole blew a raspberry, his tongue now out. "Hey!"

"Sorry!" Cole would laugh and wag his tail. "That was funny!"

"...Perhap it was." Finley swam closer to the wolf man, sighing but reaching out to play with his face again.

Cole smiled and allowed him to, wagging his tail as the fish man played with his face.

..........................................................

"Hold still will you." Finley growled and used a hot boiled egg to massage against Cole's bruised face (I kid you not, people do this). "You have to be more careful when the Akaika girl is in a round! She batted your face hard enough to bruise, imagine what would happen if she hit your head!"

"I'm sorry!" Cole whined as the ex-prince gave a loud sigh. "On my royal decree, you are not allowed to leave my dwelling quarters without my permission, until I can be sure you won't get yourself severely injured."

"Okay..." the wolf man had his ears and tail down, but knew Finley meant well. "Do you want to go back to the lake?"

"Yes, give me a minute." He grabbed an umbrella he found from a bunch of old things in storage. "It's too sunny outside. You'll have sun burns. And don't hesitate to join me in the water if it gets too hot."

"Got it. I even have sunscreen." He grinned and got up to find the bottle of sunscreen from the cupboard.

"And don't forget to change into cooler clothes. Long sleeves in this heat? Do you want to get heat stroke?" Finley crossed his arms, tapping his foot on the old, wooden floor.

Cole could only chuckle as he went to get more summer appropriate clothes to go to the lake in. "As you wish, your Majesty."
