[THIRD PERSON POV]
"WE'RE LOOSING HER TONY!" Wanda screamed from the back of the ship.
Steve had found Bucky in the stairwell, holding onto Davina with an astronomical grip, screaming at the top of his lungs, begging for help. The pair had carried her limp body through the woods, running at full speed until they reached the ship. Once on board, Bucky had disappeared from sight, though no one was in the right headspace to go in search for him. All that mattered was the dying girl, sprawled out across a workbench at the back of the ship.
Tony had taken off as soon as the trio entered and left Rhodey to take over the controls once the air was clear. He leapt out of his seat and rushed to the back of the jet, only to be faced with utter chaos.
Natasha was pacing in a small circle, Clint beside her, begging for the Romanoff girl to calm down. Sam was running back and fourth the two sections of the aircraft carrying useless medical supplies. Steve was facing a screen with Banner's face on it, begging him for instructions on what he should do. Wanda sat by Davina's side, cleaning blood with shaking hands from the limp girls face, Vision by her side, reassuring her that she was doing everything right.
Tony's eyes scanned the room, searching for the one person he wanted nothing more than to beat the hell out of. He wasn't here, Tony didn't have the time nor the energy to find Barnes. As much as he wanted to send the Soldier to his own personal hell, it would have to wait.
Instead, he rushed over to the bloodied girl. Her suit had been stripped off her body, leaving her in a pair of shorts and a sports bra, both covered in blood. His hands trembled by his sides. "JARVIS, we need a full body scan on Davina Penton." He fought to stop his voice from shaking as the AI did as instructed.
"Full body scan complete. Body suffering from three cracked ribs, all on the right side. Severe bruising of the face, neck and left thigh. Bullet puncture wounds on left shoulder and stomach, though no organs have been punctured. Body suffering from extreme blood loss, medical attention advised."
Tony's hands stopped shaking as the AI finished their statement. He needed to get in control over himself. "We need to get the bullets out." Tony spoke steadily. He knew if he lost control now, she'd have less of a chance at surviving.
"I-I don't know_"
"Wanda! Pull it together, Wilson, we need tweezers, a sewing needle, floss, gauze, bandages and water. NOW!" Tony yelled.
His outburst caused everyone to go silent and stare at him, all except Sam, who was running around looking for supplies like a mad man, skidding on the floor at an unsuccessful attempt not to fall over.
"Romanoff! You've got the steadiest hands, you have to do this." Tony pointed at Natasha as she ran towards them, just as Sam dumped all the supplies on the table.
"Someone thread the floss through the needle as Nat's removing the bullets. Steve, get ready with gauze and water." Tony addressed everyone.
"Wanda..." Wanda's head snapped up at her name. "Is there any chance you can sew?"

"She's stable." The old nurse breathed, addressing the private waiting room filled with Avengers.
Wanda let out a gasp of relief, relaxing into Vision's arms. The room buzzed with remarks of happiness. The nurse stood awkwardly, clearly desperate to get a word through the hushed chatter.
"Is there-" She started, her wrinkled features crumpling together.
Tony leant back in his chair, nodding at Steve, who couldn't fight the smile on his lips.
Bucky stood in the corner of the waiting room. He couldn't smile, he couldn't breath a sigh of relief, he had done this. He had done this, to her. The one person he promised never to hurt, he had destroyed.
Tony stole several glances at him, his eyes burning holes through the Soldier. It had taken all of Steve's willpower to convince Stark that it wasn't him, it wasn't his fault.
The nurse shifted from foot to foot uneasily, Bucky's eyes narrowed at her discomfort. He opened his mouth to address her. "There's something wrong, isn't there?" His words caused the whole room to go dead silent. Every head turned towards the nurse, who gulped at the sudden change of atmosphere.
"I- I'm sorry, it was very early, she probably didn't even know.." The nurse stumbled over her words and Bucky felt his heart begin to drop. All the possibilities of what could be wrong were rushing through his brain.
The nurse cleared her throat before looking Bucky dead in the eye. "Are you-" She looked down at her notepad. "James Barnes?"
Bucky's heart was pounding against his chest, he couldn't answer her, he couldn't even open his mouth.
"Yes he is." Steve answered for him, sensing his friend's uneasiness.
"I was informed you were Davina Penton's partner, is that correct?" She questioned.
"Yes." He whispered, fear staining his face.
She gave Bucky a pitiful smile. "I think we should have a chat next door son."
The room went silent once again as the nurse walked over to him and gestured him to go through a door beside him. He obliged and followed the nurse into the small office.
"You might want to sit down Mr. Barnes." She spoke softly.
His body went numb as he sat down. The nurse sat down opposite him. She shone him a weak smile, one clearly rehearsed for delivering bad news.
"Okay Mr. Barnes-"
"Bucky."
"Okay.. Bucky." She breathed. He could tell whatever she was about to say was going to break him, it was going to break him so bad.
"Ms. Penton, she should not have been in the field that day... I'm so sorry Bucky.. It wasn't just herself she needed to protect.."
Bucky's eyes flashed in confusion to her words. "What are you saying doctor?" He pressed, all Bucky needed right now was a clear answer.
"Davina was pregnant Mr. Barnes. She was pregnant with your child. I'm afraid she's lost the baby."
Bucky gasped loudly and stood up, the chair clattering on the floor behind him.
"Mr. Barnes I understand this is hard-"
The door slammed open and Steve stood in the doorway, his face laced with concern. He looked at the doctor, before shifting his gaze to Bucky. The doctor was quick to exit the room and scurry away, leaving Steve and Bucky alone.
"S-Steve, it's all my fault, I-I have to tell her what I did!" He whispered, eyes wide, tears streaming down his face.
"Oh Buck." Steve whispered. He didn't say anything else as he hugged Bucky, letting him break down completely.
A few minutes had passed before Bucky pulled himself together, a light tapping on the door made him stand up straighter and wipe his face. Steve opened the door and walked out, the disheveled Bucky right behind him.
Tony's glare softened slightly at the sight of Bucky, he knew whatever the doctor had said wasn't good. Wanda stood in the corner, her arms wrapped around her body, tears threatened to spill down her cheeks but she wouldn't allow her. She knew. It didn't take a genius to figure out what the doctor had told Barnes.
"She's waking up, you should be there." Natasha said, patting him on the shoulder and walking out the door, signalling for the others to leave him alone.
Everyone got the memo and made their way out, except Tony, who had to be dragged out by Steve.
Bucky took a deep breath and walked into her room. His heart shattered at the sight of his doll. Machines were attached to her body from around her bed, blood pumped into her body through blood bags.
His mind was racing.
I am the cause of all that blood she lost. I did this. I killed our child, she would have been so much better off without me. If only I had of just convinced her to stay back at the compound, none of this would have happened. She would have been so much happier without me, I can't do this. I can't-
"Bucky?"
He snapped back to reality at the broken voice of the girl in bed. He quickly walked over to her and dropped to his knees, a single tears falling down his face.
"Please don't cry." She whispered.
Her hand found his head and she ran her fingers slowly through his hair. She knew it wasn't his fault, yet she also was aware that he would blame himself, he would never forgive himself for committing something that he didn't even have any control over.
"It's okay Bucky." She whispered, trailing her fingers across his cheek and wiping away the tear which had fallen mere moments ago.
He reached up with shaky hands and gently held onto her hand, bringing it close to his lips and planting a delicate kiss against her soft knuckles.
"I-I'm so sorry doll-"
"Shut up." She cut him off, shifting her head to face the ceiling, yet keeping her hand in his grasp.
"No, no, no, doll it's my fault-"
"I. Said. Shut. Up." She grumbled, closing her eyes and furrowing her brows together. "If you say that one more time I will have no choice but to hide your cocoa pops in a place you will never find." She murmured, opening her eyes and shifting her head to look at his broken state.
Bucky pulled a chair from behind him and sat down next to her, as close as the chair allowed. "Vina.. There's something you need to know.." He stumbled over his words.
Davina's eyes suddenly got sadder and a tear dripped down her cheek. "Bucky.. I know."
His head snapped up to look at her, he immediately wiped away the mark on her cheek and gazed into her eyes with a devastated expression.
"How-"
"They thought I was asleep.. I could hear them talking Buck.. I know." Her voice trembled. "It's okay, I would have been a shit mum anyways." She attempted a chuckle, only wincing as she laughed.
He held onto her hand tightly and kissed her knuckles over and over again. "You would have been the best mother in the world doll. And I will never forgive myself from taking that away from you." He murmured into her hand.
She furrowed her eyebrows at him before shuffling over in the bed, making more room.
"What on Earth are you doing woman?" He chuckled.
"Come here." Was all she said, gesturing to the empty space on the bed next to her.
His eyes widened slightly. "Oh no no, I don't want to hurt you anymore than I already have doll." His smile was pained.
"Your not, stop it." She whined, pulling weakly on his hand.
He sighed and slipped in the bed next to her, pressing himself against the side in an attempt to give her as much room as possible.
"Oh for Gods sake." She groaned.
He laughed nervously and placed and arm around her while she rest her head half on his chest, half on the pillow. She breathed in his scent and laced her hand with his.
"Bucky I need you to promise me something." She whispered, her voice shaking slightly from the pain that shook her body.
"Mhm?" He mumbled into her hair, placing a gentle kiss on the top of her head.
She took a deep breath before her wishes tumbled out of her mouth. "I need you to promise me that you will never blame yourself for what happened yesterday... It isn't your fault."
There was a long silence before he responded. "I-I don't know if I can promise that Vina.."
She took in another deep, shaking breath. "Then promise me you'll at least try... It wasn't your fault Buck, and I will never blame you for it. In fact, i'll be more angry with you if you blame yourself... Understand?"
He smiled softly and kissed her temple lovingly. "Yes ma'am."
She smiled and shifted slightly, closing her eyes and relaxing into the person she would die for.
