[THIRD PERSON POV]

"You just don't seem to understand my sweet дочь... We all have our roles to play, and this is yours."

"Why can't I choose my own path mother? Why must I-"

"YOU WILL NOT TALK BACK TO YOUR MOTHER! эгоистичный девочка."

Spit flew from her father's outraged mouth, his words slicing through the tension-filled air. She wanted to cry, Davina wanted to run away and hide under the boiler room, the place she used to hide from her sister as a little girl.

Davina's mother placed a hand on her fathers shoulder. "If you were more like your sister, we wouldn't be having this conversation my сладкий." Her eyes showed not a hint of sympathy for her daughter, only the cold darkness Davina had grown so used to over the years.

"But mother-"

"No buts дочь. This is the path for you, perhaps once you are older, you will understand the true meaning of our actions. For now, fall in line, follow your sisters lead, only then will everything be okay."

Tears welled at the back of fifteen year old Davina Penton's eyes. She refused to allow these tears to escape, any sign of weakness was a sign of failure.

She pressed her chapped lips together in a tight line and nodded at the people she called mum and dad. Her own eyes darkened at the sight of her glowering sister, smiling gingerly at her from behind the corner.

"Davina!"

"Hmm? What the hell Buck-"

"Are you okay?" Bucky pressed, his eyes scanning her exhausted face.

"Yeah? Why wouldn't i be?" She questioned cautiously, her eyes narrowing in confusion at Bucky's anxious expression.

The pair were sprawled out on her bed, Bucky propped on one elbow, leaning over her slightly. The glowing clock beside her read 3:58am.. Perfect.

"Doll.. You were screaming again." His eyebrows knitted together in worry.

She relaxed further into the cushions, once again digging her nails into the palm of her hands. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." She whispered, eyes glued to the ceiling.

She heard a soft chuckle escape his mouth as his metal fingers gently brushed her hair away from her sticky forehead. "Don't apologise."

The pair were silent for a while, Bucky's fingers dancing against her temple, helping to calm down her heart rate, which was going a mile a minute.

He sat up, back pressed against the frame of their bed, his arms gesturing for her to come closer to him.

She smiled at his action, bringing her tired legs over to straddle his waist as she leant into his chest, arms wrapping themselves around his neck.

His arms snaked their way around her waist, gently drumming his fingers on the small of her back.

"Are you ever going to tell me what keeps you up at night doll?" He questioned softly, lifting her head from his chest and cupping the side of her face with his flesh hand.

She hummed and leant slowly into his hand. "I'm not sure if that's the best idea Buck."

He frowned at her, bringing his metal hand to cup the other side of her face. Now her head was trapped in his hold, so she had not choice but to face him.

"Why not doll?" Her pressed, moving his hands to the back of her neck and rubbing soothing circles into her skin with his thumbs.

"I've been dreaming about HYDRA." She blurted out, looking directly into his eyes to spy his reaction to her words.

He mumbled a Russian curse word, one Davina had never been taught, his eyes begging her to continue speaking.

"Well.. It's not really HYDRA, more my family, my parents... My sister."

Bucky's eyes widened slightly. "You never told me you had a sister." He hummed, moving his hands back to her waist, holding onto her hips and drawing small patterns on her back with his fingers.

She scoffed. "Yeah we didn't really get along."

Bucky was silent for a few moments. He had that look on his face Davina had memorised, the look where he was thinking heavily about something.

"You know.. We could probably fin-"

"I don't want to see them James.. I don't ever want to see any of them again." She growled, her eyes turning a darker shade as those hateful words rolled off her tongue.

Bucky gave her waist a reassuring squeeze. "Okay."

She placed her hands on his shoulders, drumming her fingers against his collarbones in thought.

"What's on your mind?" He mumbled, placing a kiss on her cheek. "You look like you could use a distraction." He smirked wickedly at her, shooting her a quick wink.

"Your right.." She pondered. "I'm going to the training room." She decided, rolling off his lap and walking towards her dresser.

Bucky sat against the pillows, a flabbergasted look upon his face. Davina smirked as she grabbed her training clothes and walked to the bathroom, leaving it an inch open so they could talk as she changed.

She heard a loud groan from the room as she pulled off her shirt and replaced it with a sports bra and loose training shirt.

"Do you have to? Right now?" He muttered, loud enough for her to hear as she pulled off her shorts and pulled on a pair of yoga pants.

"Yep!" She announced, pulling her hair back into a ponytail.

"Babe it's 4 in the morning!" He yelled back at her.

"Yes, I know. You should probably stop yelling before you wake up the entire compound Barnes." She giggled, walking out of the bathroom and plopping herself on the floor, only to tie up her shoelaces.

"Please stay." He groaned.

"Nope." She grinned, walking over to him and placing a quick kiss on his lips. "I haven't trained in ages Buck, I need to at least make sure I still have a sense of control over.. You know." She sighed, opening the door and pausing at the doorway.

"I don't have Wanda to help me anymore, which is fine. But I just have to do a lot more work myself." She hummed, stifling her laugh as she faced Bucky's immature pouting face.

"I'll be back before breakfast." She grinned, closing the door on a groaning Bucky and making her way down the long corridors.

Her smile quickly vanished at the sight of all the closed doors. She paused momentarily at Wanda's door, only to keep moving at the sad realisation that she wasn't there. The loneliness set in as she reached the training room.

She had never seen it so empty, there was always someone in here, even if it was the middle of the night.

She shook off the sense of despair that settled in the pit of her stomach and walking into the center of the room.

She closed her eyes and allowed all the stress, all the anger, all the sadness she had been building up over the past few weeks to escape her body through the deadly flames she had learnt to call a part of her.
