The sky was overcome by clouds before they reached the small town. Ferocious rain had started to thunder down on the desperate duo.

Davina's hair clung together in heavy tendrils and water dripped from Bucky's face.

The pair were a mess.

By the time their footing found a shaded patio, they were completely drenched in rain water. Their clothes hung loosely to trembling bodies and water seemed to seep from the tiny holes that had begun to form in their shoes.

"We should have left sooner." Davina's voice trembled from the cold as she spoke.

"You don't say." Bucky scoffed in return, rolling his eyes and looking down at her shaking form. "Is this the place?"

"We wouldn't be here if it wasn't." Davina sighed and walked up to the door.

She wrapped her pained knuckles against the hard frame and hollered a name.

"Celeste! Celeste please open the door! It's Davina Penton!"

Davina's work were muffled by the thundering rain surrounding them.

The pair spun around as a figure approached from behind.

"You looking for Celeste La Belle?" The figure spoke above the rain.

"Perhaps, who the hell are you?" Bucky's voice came out harsh against the howling wind.

The figure stepped into the dull light cast from his phone.

He was an old man, maybe 70 or 80, tall and lean. His grey hair dripped down his face from under his raincoat, which clearly wasn't doing much.

"Do you know where Celeste is sir?" Davina spoke, stepping in front of Bucky.

"Celeste La Belle moved away three years ago, no one lives here now, you need to leave this property." The man shook his head, water flying from his face.

Before either Bucky or Davina could say another word, the man turned and ran out into the rain, towards the comfort of a large house.

"I guess we can't-" Davina turned but was cut off by the earsplitting sound of a door coming off its hinges.

"Bucky what the hell are you doing?! You heard him, no ones here." Davina gasped in anger.

"Exactly." Bucky frowned and walked into the darkness. "He said no ones lived here for three years, I would presume that means the house is off the market."

Davina stepped into the dark, her body still trembling from the cold.

The house was small and dark, fully furnished, most likely from the days the house had still been on the market.

She jumped when a gloved hand wrapped itself around her wrist.

"Relax it's just me." Bucky's voice sounded in the air.

"What are you doing."

"Making sure I don't loose you while I find a flashlight genius."

Davina could sense Bucky's eye-roll in the darkness.

"Awww, you care about me." Davina teased smugly.

"No I dont, you just have the water purifiers on you." Bucky laughed.

"Ouch, thats cold."

"I know." Bucky smirked as he pulled her along beside him, using his other hand to feel the wall and shelves for a torch.

Davina opened her mouth to speak but was stopped by a flush of light in her face.

"Jesus Bucky! Careful where you point that thing."

"Sorry. I found a flashlight." Bucky smirked under the light.

"Yeah no shit Sherlock."

Bucky's brows knitted together in a display of confusion. "Who's Sherlock?"

Davina sighed and slapped her head against her hand. "Never mind."

Bucky chucked her a flashlight and the two split up, searching for anything valuable they could take with them.

The kitchen cupboards were empty as expected, so food was a no go.

However, there were a couple packs of batteries and a few bandage rolls.

The pair met in the living room after a few minutes, the few supplies found gathered in a small pile on the dusted couch.

"Davina." Bucky's voice broke through the silent void as he looked over at her.

Davina had strung the two torches up from the ceiling, so they worked as a room light of sorts. Shadows danced as played along the soft green peeling wallpaper.

"Hmm?" She looked up to match his stare with exhausted eyes.

"Go to sleep Vina." He pressed.

"No it's okay, you can sleep, I'll keep watch." She grumbled, settling down in the couch.

He brushed a pile of dust off one of the pillows and sat down next to her, eyes squinting slightly.

"Davina, no ones coming here, just sleep. I'll keep watch if it makes you feel better." Bucky sighed. He too, was exhausted, but he knew that at least one of them had to sleep.

"It's fine Bucky, seriously." Davina tried. However the yawn in between words didn't seem to be helping her case.

Bucky smiled wickedly and threw a pillow at her.

"Hey! What was that for asshole?!" Davina laughed.

"It's your pillow. Now go to fucking sleep doll, I can clearly see that you want to." His smile softened slightly.

Davina sighed in defeat and clutched onto the pillow.

"Only for a couple hours, then wake me up and you can sleep."

Bucky held her gaze before silently agreeing to her terms.

His eyes widened slightly as she threw the pillow across the room and lay her head on his lap instead.

Before Bucky could say anything Davina let out a mumble of words. "I'm not putting my head on this filthy couch Barnes."

His smile grew and he stifled a laugh as Davina shifted her head on his lap to get comfortable.

He hesitantly reached a hand out and stroked his rough fingers through her matted hair.

Davina smiled and melted into the touch of his fingertips caressing her hair and occasional cheekbone.

"Goodnight doll." Bucky's words sounded muffled and overtaken from the sound of the storm raging outside.

Davina felt a surprisingly rough pair of lips press against her forehead as she drifted off to sleep.

Bucky's hand untangled her hair through Davina's slumber.

He sighed and relaxed to her softened breathing and his eyes began to flutter closed.
