fifty three
THREE MONTHS LATER
[THIRD PERSON POV]
Frozen air slammed against Davina's aching body as her presence was thrown out into the unknown lands harsh, winter climates.
Her body pounded with excruciating pain, yet she forced herself to keep on going. The girl dragged her figure further and further away from the hell she had been forced to stay in for ninety one days, three months. That is, if the markings on her cell wall were accurate.
The lack of activity from the HYDRA base behind her assured the Penton girl that she had staged her escape perfectly. Everything was running smoothly.
"194...195...196..." Her ragged breathing spurted out the numbers she'd been counting since her escape.
The girl suddenly threw her body behind a tree, shaking hands brought up to her head as she counted down the last few seconds.
"209...210-"
Davina's entire body was thrown forwards, skull cracking against a hollow tree once she landed.
The brunette just managed to lift up her head to witness the flames dancing around her own personal hell.
A sickening laugh escaped her swollen throat as the thick, ghostly smoke erupted all around her, causing her to choke on the air, spitting blood across the crisp white snow.
Forcing herself up for what seemed like the hundredth time that day, Davina travelled through the unknown, snowy forest.
She didn't know where she was going, all she knew was that she needed to get out of here. Davina knew there wouldn't be anyone coming after her after the bombing, surviving something as catastrophic as what she had just caused would be impossible. There would be no survivors.
As she raced through the woods, bare feet sinking into the snow, untamed brunette hair trailing in the wind. She couldn't help but think of her sisters burning corpse in the midst of all the flames.
She felt free. Not a hint of remorse piling onto her already clustered thoughts.
Davina collapsed into the snow, exhaustion taking over her, the girls body finally giving up on itself, finally shutting down.
"no.. no.." She whispered to herself, again and again.
Her mind raced, fighting the sense of unconsciousness, threatening to take over completely. I've come this far, i'm not giving out from some bull-shit hypothermia.
A single tear of desperation spilled from her eye as she closed her eyes, all the strength she had built up over the span of three months drifting away. Everything she had fought fo, every second she spent battling fo her life in that godforsaken place, all drifting away, as if it never mattered at all. As if every time she'd lifted herself from her own pool of blood, forcing her body to carry on, didn't matter.
Davina Penton's last awakening thoughts were of the two people she loved most in this world.
Her baby, her child, Rebecca Penton Barnes. The human she never knew she could love so much. Her absolute muse in live, the baby she would die for in a heartbeat, without so much as blinking an eye. Rebecca was her pride and joy.
And Bucky... Her fairytale lover. He was her key, the light to her darkness. She found him in a time she didn't think she needed anyone but herself. Boy was she wrong.
He never failed to make her laugh, never failed to lift her heart whenever it threatened to crumble down.
She imagined Bucky, black suit coating her body, toddler gripping his hand.
She imagined Bucky, seated their dinner table, a young girl sat across from him, chanting about her day at school.
She imagined Bucky, gentle hands braiding a young teens dark brunette hair back neatly, helping her prepare for her first date.
She imagined Bucky... Twenty years later. An alcoholic, his heart shattered into a million pieces, metal hand covered from the world once again.
She imagined her daughter, a young woman now, begging for her father to be happy for her marriage, begging for him to show her an emotion, any emotion.
Davina's eyes snapped open, her nails dragging along the snow, hands pushing her body up and away from the freezing ground.
Davina let out an agonising shout as her entire body lifted itself off from the ground. Her eyes were screwed shut once again, only opening when the feeling of cold disappeared. It completely disappeared.
A shallow gasp escaped her strangled throat at the sight surrounding her fiery body.
Comforting flames surrounded her form, whisking through the air around her, never straying too far before returning to her. The girl felt her eyes burning, deep red orbs covering her usual green.
Looking down, Davina saw the snowy earth, far below her feat. Taking in her surroundings, the girl flew through the air, a burning trail of fiery determination attacking the air behind her flying figure.
She forced her body forwards, urging herself to find any sign of life. She couldn't give up, not now, not again. Because Davina knew, as soon as she lay down to rest once again, she wouldn't get up again, not ever. That would be the place she would die, the place she could call her death bed.
A cracked gasp of happiness withered out from her throat at the sight of a main road, urging her to pick up the speed.
Davina flew close to the gravel road, head whipping to the sides in search for anything that could be deemed useful.
There were no cars, not a single one. The brunette weighed out her options as she travelled along to road.
She could keep following the road, it would eventually lead to somewhere, perhaps she could find help wherever it lead to. Though the girl had no idea how far the journey could take her, and she knew she wouldn't survive much longer out here, even with her fire.
Her pounding thoughts her interrupted as a phone booth came into view, a look of pure relief spread across her face as she tumbled across the snow, dragging herself towards it.
Davina yanked open the door, forming glowing embers across the floor so she wouldn't catch her death.
Typing in the code she'd been taught at an early age from HYDRA, she hacked into the phone, reliving herself from having to search for loose change along the side of the abandoned road.
Davina took a deep breath, dialling the only number she ever managed to remember.
Tears of joy poured down her red cheeks as a high-pitched voice answered.
"Hello?"
Davina couldn't breath, she couldn't muster up the courage to speak at all.
The voice across the line grew agitated quickly. "Who is this? How did you get this number?"
Davina breathed in heavily, desperately trying to let even a single word out. Just as she was about to speak, the voice spoke again. A single word, a name really, it was all Davina needed to allow her voice box access again.
"Davina..?"
"Wanda.." Davina whispered, her body bursting with excitement. "Wanda listen to me.. I don't have much time, and I've got no clue where I am. ."
Wanda's voice was all business, saving the reunion for later.
"Describe your surrou-"
The line cut off, in fact, the entire phone line was disconnected from the wall.
"WANDA!?" Davina yelled wildly into the phone.
She looked down, cursing at herself whilst seeing the embers burning down the telephone box.
She threw herself out of the box, lifting into the air and travelling back down the road. Her mind was racing, Wanda wouldn't have had enough time to trace the call. Besides, Davina would be dead by the time they sent out a rescue party.
Her body whipped through the air, travelling at astronomical speed, eyes searching for any sign of life.
The girl dropped down onto the road, extinguishing her flames, jutting out her thumb in the middle of the road as two gleaming headlights travelled towards her.
The truck slowed down as Davina's body came into view, coming to a complete halt a few feet away from her.
The drivers side door flung open, and a slender figure made their way quickly towards her.
It was only when they came closer that Davina could take in their appearance. She was tall, a perfect face holding up a head of beautiful brown waves.
The woman stopped infront of her, wrapping an arm around her without saying a word, pulling her gently towards the truck and helping her into the passengers seat.
Davina couldn't manage to mumble a single word as the tall, brown haired woman saved her life.
Her eyes fluttered closed before the truck started moving, and Davina fell unconscious.

Guys you have no idea how much a debated on killing Davina. I actually wrote her death scene plus the scene I just wrote, deciding which one was better. Soo.. YOUR WELCOME. Also, I DID NOT edit this part whatsoever so please just ignore all the spelling mistakes i most definitely made along the way <3
ALSOOO I skipped the whole kidnapping three months long shit cause i really did not feel like writing three months worth of that. Sorry hoes. Don't worry though, there will be a recap of sorts on what happened in that three month span.
