THIRD PERSON POV

Davina's heart lurched, mind askew all the while. Her knife rattled in her palms grip, pressed between the steering wheel and her hand. She had Starks obnoxious jeep parked on the outskirts of town, hidden from the view of any passing people.

She took a deep breath as her eyes grazed over the cars clock.

13:52pm. Shit.

The brunette groaned as her head dropped down to rest on the steering wheel, careful of where the knifes blade was pointing. She chuckled heedlessly, recognising that she had been seated in the dark coloured jeep, watching the peaceful town for almost 45 minutes. Alone. Without Bucky.

She wasn't sure why. All the girl's thoughts when held captive in both HYDRA and the compound had been on Bucky. Reuniting with Bucky. Holding his face in her hands. Gazing into his elegant blue eyes she had dreamt of all her awaken and sleeping hours.

Davina lifted her head slightly, just enough for her eyes to peer over the rim of the steering wheel, preparing herself for what was to come.

She remained motionless for a few more moments before dropping her head back onto the wheel, a groan emerging from deep inside her throat, producing a strange gargling noise.

For the first time in a long time, Davina was scared. She didn't know if he'd changed, if he'd moved on. She hadn't been afraid every moment her sister had walked into her cell, a new method of torment coming forth, so why was she afraid now?

The Penton girl lifted her head further away from the steering wheel this time, unclipping her seatbelt and tucking her knife in the waistband of her pants as she forced her body out of the vehicle.

Her legs seemed to be compelled into moving her wounded body forwards, not looking back at the car, knowing if she did so she'd most likely run, or limp, back to the safety of the automobile and hide in it for at least another hour or two.

Instead, the girl kept on walking. Walking through the bare streets of the town the lovers had once used as a safe haven. The town where it all started. Everything began here, they hadn't even known it at the time.

Davina hadn't realised she was holding her breath until she let out a gasp of air, sucking in oxygen gratefully as her breathing steadied the further she walked.

Few people were scattered among the calming streets, all of which sent her warm, welcoming smiles. The brunette couldn't help but laugh to herself. Bucky would just be loving it here.

As she walked past the center of town, towards the side she didn't have enough time to grow familiar with before, her heart began to flutter with excitement.

She walked past an old man, grouchy looking expression on his face, seemingly different from the cheery aura of the neighbourhood. His eyes narrowed slightly at her as she pasted, causing her mind to ponder.

It was only until the Penton girl walked a few more meters that the recognition hit her like a brick, straight in the face. She whipped around, an unintentional grin drawing along her features, but the man was gone, disappearing into the house of another.

Davina stood motionless for a few moments, letting the feeling wash out of her. When she finally started walking again, the girl chuckled, walking with more meaning and purpose in her stride. She remembered the time she had practically dragged an unstable Bucky into an abandoned house on the outskirts of this very town, only to be scolded by a grouchy looking older gentleman.

That very house stood infront of her now, memories and all. Except it was different. It had changed. The splintering wood planks covering the shattered windows had been removed, replaced with dark green window frames with matching shutters. In place of the once torn up, decaying garden beds was rows upon rows of peonies, grown to absolute perfection.

Davina smiled at her favourite flowers coating the earth around the house, drawing her eyes up to the structure to take in more of it's allurement.

Her eyes were enchanted as they grazed over small details of the house she'd fallen in love in.

Without thinking, the brunette's legs forced her body forwards, down the freshly weeded pathway, decorated with freshly grown daises. She paused momentarily at the door, painted a deep green to match the windows.

Davina didn't bother to knock, instead pushed open the unlocked door and stepping inside.

The house was silent, for a split second the girl was worried she'd barged straight into some poor persons home.

That was until she saw the framed pictures, covering the entire wall next to the entrance she'd just walked through.

Hundreds upon hundreds of framed photographs of her and Rebecca. Davina allowed a small gasp to escape her lungs, her mouth hanging open as she took in every single picture.

Her eyes fell on a larger one, not a singular speck of dust coating the frame. She smiled at the image of herself with a tiny Rebbie cradled in her arms. She was in the garden of their home in Spring, an array of wild flowers surrounding them in the photograph.

Davina forced her eyes away from the picture, butterflies frolicking around her stomach as she walked deeper into the house.

She passed the living room, much different from when the two of them had taken shelter all that time ago. The couch was different, a light cream colour to match the brick fireplace across from it.

As Davina walked passed each room, more and more emotions began to consume her. She turned a corner and entered the kitchen, heart warming at the books scattered on all horizontal surfaces, mentally cursing her lover for keeping such fine literature dangerously close to food.

Her mind seemed to crack in two as a soft shut of the front door sounded from down the hall. Davina's heart buzzed as she slowed her walking to travel back the way she'd come, holding her breath all the while.

The trembling girl reached the doorway of the kitchen, heart stopping at the sight.

His back was facing her. From her perspective she could see he'd gotten a haircut at some point, although his hair was still the same, long length he knew she adored.

She smiled at the sight of him, even though he was yet to spy her. The brunette had forgotten how tall her was, and how broad his shoulders were.

Her breathing hitched as she watched his back tense and he turned slowly.

His eyes. His crystal eyes. His perfect, beautiful blue eyes latched themselves onto hers, tears almost instantly falling from them, making twin trails down either side of his face.

They stood, gazing at each other several meters apart for what felt like years. Davina slowly reached into the waistband of her pants, pulling out her knife and waving it at him slightly before putting it down on a small table next to her, eyes never leaving his.

"I thought it was about time I got this back." She smiled, tears matching her lovers, falling down her face, wetting her neck.

He remained still, mouth hovering open slightly, not a single word escaping his mouth.

She gulped down her nerves before speaking again, since it didn't look like he was able to get any words out.

"Your a very hard man to contact, you-"

Her words were cut off as her body was wrapped in his and the pair collapsed onto the floorboards.

She yelped in surprise, quickly reacting by throwing her own arms around his neck.

The pair were on the floor, Bucky sat with his legs splayed out, Davina straddling his waist, both holding onto one another like it was the end of the world.

She thought that if he held onto her any tighter she would forget how to breath. Though Davina was quite content with suffocating under his scent.

She felt his tears dampen the top of her head, her own transferring onto his jumper. They cried in silence for at least an eternity, the strength of which they held onto one another not loosening at any point.

Finally, she chuckled in his ear, a heartwarming sound that sent sparks through his heart. He let go of her momentarily, moving his hands from her waist to sneak up and clutch onto either side of her face, squishing her cheeks together the slightest bit.

His eyes locked onto hers, too much pain and love morphed into one, swimming around in his crystal orbs. She smiled weakly at him, causing his own features to relax into the smile she had been robbed of for far too long now.

"I missed your smile." She whispered, her voice cracking unintentionally, her hearts shattered pieces picking themselves up and latching onto one another again.

His smile only grew at her words. "God I love you doll." He murmured, barely audible, though loud enough for another tear to spill down Davina's cheek.

Davina moved her lips closer to his, hesitating for a split second before gently pressing her lips against his own. Another tear fell down Bucky's face and Davina wiped it away with her fingertips.

She smiled into the kiss, pulling away slowly as she began to run out of oxygen. They stared at each other briefly before the ex-soldier began to speak again.

"Do you remember the first time I kissed you?" He asked. She smiled in response, nodding her head as the memory flushed through her already clustered mind.

Bucky nodded, describing the scene to her anyways. "We were in the cell." He laughed, a welcoming laugh she had loved since the beginning. "You looked so different then.." Davina raised an eyebrow at this, causing Bucky to quickly stumble over his words. "No more beautiful than now doll!" He exclaimed, stuttering slightly. At this she pulled him in and pecked his lips, urging him to continue the story she had fallen in love with over and over again over the past few years.

Bucky nodded several times before continuing. "Your hair was longer then.." He started. "It was lighter too, I think the sun did that."

Davina nodded at him eagerly, her smile transforming into her signature, wicked grin, urging him to continue.

"I leant in, and I kissed you.." He paused, his expression looking like he was thinking of something important. "I think.. I think that was the day you saved me Vina."

Her heart bubbled against her chest, all the love she had more Bucky wanted to burst out and wrap itself around him.

She smiled again. "Yeah and then Steve walked in with the lunch order." She chuckled, the memory lighting up a part of her brain she had kept locked away for so long.

She looked down at his gloved hand before looking back up at him, a questioning look cast upon her face.

He groaned half-heartedly, mumbling under his breath something along the lines of: "Don't want the neighbours to see."

She smiled briefly at him, casting her eyes back down to his left hand and gently pulling off his glove. Her smile only grew at the sight of the metal, and she instantly brought it to rest on the side of her face, relaxing at the touch of the cool metal pressed against her skin.

He smirked at her. "Sometimes I don't know whether you like me more, or the arm."

She snapped her eyes back up to him, glaring jokingly at his words. "Always you."

His smirk warmed up and he leant forwards to place a delicate kiss on her lips, so soft it felt as if they were floating.

Her eyes moved away from his and instead they danced around the interior of the house he had made liveable over the course of only a few months.

"How did you do all this?" She asked, gesturing to the architecture around her, amazement laced in her tone.

Bucky shrugged. "Oh you know.. Had some inspirational assistance from the old man down the street. Bob? Lawrence? I can't remember."

Davina beamed at him. "You impress me everyday James."

Bucky's heart seemed to melt on the spot. "As do you shortie."

The girl leant into his touch, relaxing against his skin, remaining quiet. After a few moments she felt him tilt his head slightly to the side in a questioning manner.

"You alright down there Vina?" He whispered into her ear, sending comforting chills down her spine.

"Yeah..." She mumbled into his chest. "I just need a second."

He smiled into her hair, rubbing the cool metal of his left hand slowly up and down the skin under her shirt.

She breathed in his scent, his comforting aroma attaining her sense of smell, much to her liking.

The pair allowed a few more moments to relax in the comfort of the silence they sat in before Bucky began to speak again. "So what do we do now?"

"We go see our baby."
