DAVINA POV

"I've missed this." Davina mumbled, shuffling closer to her love as Steve continued to talk.

Bucky grunted, glancing over to where his child lay asleep in Barton's arms. "I haven't." He shifted his weight so the soldier could wrap a loose arm around the Penton girl.

"Why? Is this because of Rebbie?" Davina mumbled, her eyes not leaving Steve.

"Partly. I would elaborate but we should probably stop talking before little Stevie kicks us out."

Davina stifled a chuckle as Bucky drummed his metal fingers along the side of her waist. He zoned out, knowing the important keys of Steve's hero speech wouldn't come till much later.

"-as you know, the threat was minimal last year, however, Bruce and I have noticed the rise in demand for HYDRA's... demand."

Davina scoffed at Steve's words. As if everyone in the room didn't know the reason they were in this mess. She rolled her eyes at Steve wrapped up his rambling, causing the people filling the room to wander away to their quarters. No doubt in preparation for the days to come.

As Bucky wandered towards Clint to collect his baby, Davina found herself standing before Steve. Her arms were crossed over her chest in a dull manner, a questioning look cast upon her features.

The Rogers man turned around to face her, crossing his own, muscular arms around his chest and sighing heavily.

"HYDRA's demand? That's what your calling it now?" Davina pressed.

Steve shook his head lightly and let out an exasperated sigh. "Can we please not do this right now Vina? You know what I meant up there."

"Everyone knew what you meant up there Steve. So why are you sugarcoating it? We all knew this was going to happen eventually, it was just a matter of time." Davina scoffed, somewhat playfully.

Tension was growing between the pair as their sibling-like arguing began to evolve.

Steve's eyes sharpened as he shot a quick glance towards the doorway Bucky had disappeared down moments earlier along with Rebecca. His gaze found her aggravated eyes once again. "You shouldn't have brought her here Penton, this is no place for a kid, let alone a baby."

Davina's eyes narrowed, her fiery temper beginning to boil. "Oh really? And where would you suggest I take her instead Rogers? Because if you know any trustworthy nannies willing to take in a child of an avenger who may be targeted by HYDRA, do tell them to give me a call."

Steve's solid expression showed no signs of hurt from the Penton girls snappy comment. Instead, he let out another heavy sigh.

"Vina- You know that's not what I meant. All i'm saying is that this isn't the safest place for her. I'm happy for you, I really am, but I will not be held responsible if that child gets hurt here."

Davina's strained expression softened at the captain's words. He was right.

"черт." The brunette mumbled under her breath, to soft for Steve's super soldier hearing, not that he'd understand her anyway.

"Look Steve, there's nowhere else for her to go. There's no one who can take her without knowing how long they need to take her for."

Steve Rogers shrugged half-heartedly, leaning closer and smiling. "Talk to Nat."

"Hey babe."

"Hey Tasha." Davina smiled warmly, plopping herself on the bed next to her red-head friend. "Long time no see.."

The pair sat comfortably on the generously sized bed in Wanda's room. The Maximoff girl busied herself with the entertainment of one of her many sitcoms. The other two girls leant against the backboard of bed bed, only slightly paying attention to the black and white screen.

"What's up?"

Davina flicked her head in Natasha's direction, stress beginning to squirm its way into her mind. "What? W-why would you think somethings wrong?" She chuckled uncomfortably.

Natasha rose an unamused eyebrow. "Come on Davina, it's written all over your face. Something's on your mind, so spill." She smiled lightly at the brunette.

She let out a small sigh, accepting defeat. "Well.."

"Can you two please be quiet. Lorie is about to see her disabled grandfather and I would really like to see that. Thank you." Wanda snapped, shushing the two girls like an impatient mother on a road trip.

Davina snickered, before bringing her attention back to the Romanoff girl, this time with a quieter voice. "So.. Steve, he seemed pretty upset earlier."

"Oh?" Natasha mumbled, clearly awaiting the point of Davina's argument.

She cleared her voice before continuing, "He was upset about me bringing Rebecca here, he said, this was no place for a child, and that she should go somewhere else for the time being."

Natasha took a sip of Clint's special tea, urging the brunette to continue.

"And, well... When I asked where in the world I should take her.. He said, and I quote, talk to Nat, like that was supposed to have some deeper meaning to it." Davina finished, looking to Natasha Romanoff for the answers she was seeking regarding Steve's outburst earlier.

The red head seemed to look past Davina, recognition floating through her mind.

Davina leaned closer, hushing her voice slightly at Wanda's scowl. "What? Do you know someone who can take her?"

Nat refocused her eyes on the Penton girl, clearing her throat while doing so. "Possibly... Though if Rogers and I are thinking of the same person, which I am almost positive we are.. Let's just say there's a reason he made you come talk to me instead of him coming here and doing it himself.

Davina cocked her head to the side, curiosity filling her already clustered mind. She nudged her friend, gesturing for her to elaborate.

Natasha rolled her eyes before allowing them to flutter shut, resting the back of her head against the bed frame.

Moments passed before she opened her eyes again, the awaited words finally tumbling out of her mouth.

"I know someone, she can take in your kid, at least until it's safe enough for you to be together again."

Davina blinked. "But how do-"

"Vina. Their strong enough, brave enough, and would be happy to. Trust me."

A heavy silence passed between the pair. The only noise heard was the muffled sounds coming from Wanda's sitcom.

Davina gulped down her worries before speaking. "Natasha, I really do appreciate this... But how do you know they can be trusted?"

Natasha turned her head, locking eyes with the slightly younger brunette.

"Because Davina... I trust my sister."

"Yelena Belova?" Bucky questioned, holding his only child slightly closer to his chest.

"That's the name Natasha told-"

"Yeah I know who she is." Bucky replied firmly.

The small family lounged in Davina's old room, the room the trio would now be sharing. The Penton girl sat cross-legged on a soft leather armchair, whilst Bucky leant against the wall on the other side of the room, Rebecca in his arms, facing Davina.

His arms swayed slowly, urging their exhausted baby to sleep as he listened to Davina talk. "Buck, I really think we should trust her. Because as much as I hate to admit this, everything Steve said to me earlier was right. Rebbie shouldn't be here, it was a bad idea to bring her here in the first place."

Bucky pushed away from the wall, sauntering over towards Davina and gently handing her the baby after an unsuccessful attempt at promoting sleep to the youngster.

Davina graciously took Rebecca. Bucky swore he saw her face light up as soon as their baby girl was placed in her hold. She started to rock the baby, silently thanking the God she didn't believe in for gracing her with a quiet baby.

Bucky took a seat on the bead, mere feet away from the two people he loved most in the world. He brought his flesh hand up and ran it through his hair, brushing it away from his face.

Davina couldn't help but notice how long his brown hair was getting. She looked down at her baby's hair and smiled at the matching tuffs of brown hair growing from her scalp. She snapped her attention back towards Bucky as he began to talk.

"Doll, you know I love you, but I just don't think this is a very good idea. Yelena is... Yelena is a very unpredictable person. I don't think I can hand over our baby without knowing what she'll do." He sighed, remorse filling his eyes.

Davina gazed at him with a pleading expression. "What other choice do we have Bucky? We're running out of options. She'll be safer with Yelena than she will be here... With us."

Pain filled her voice, the same amount of pain visible in Bucky's depressed expression. The girl awaited her love to speak, so when he didn't, she continued.

"Natasha trusts her, and Natasha's trust is good enough for me. Besides, if Yelena is anything like Natasha, I would trust Rebbie with her."

Bucky sighed once again, defeat rushing over his face. "If you trust Nat's words, then i'll trust you doll. But I will not let anything happen to my baby-"

"Our baby. And do you honestly think I would let anything happen to her?"

Bucky shot her his signature smirk, his smile softening at the sight of their sleeping baby. Davina returned the smirk, standing up slowly and placing Rebecca gently into a bassinet.

She forced her exhausted legs to move to Bucky, standing between his legs as he sat on the edge of the bed. She wrapped her arms around his neck, just as he snaked his own around her slim waist.

"I don't want to be here anymore." She whispered.

Her words sent chills down his neck, causing the light grip he had around her waist to tighten significantly.

The girl couldn't help but smile at the sudden sense of comfort overwhelming her body, she buried her face into his hair as he lifted up he legs to allow her to straddle his lap while they held each other.

"What ever happened to, I miss this?" He chuckled half-heartedly, plastering a small smile across his face as she leaned away from his hair to face him. The pair shuffled backwards so Bucky could rest his back against the headboard.

He tucked a loose strand of hair escaping her bun around her ear, allowing her to rest her cheek against the cool metal of his left palm.

She took in a deep breath. "I miss the people, but I know that whenever we come here.. It isn't just for a visit. It'll always be like this, that's just the way things are... and it's awful."

Bucky smiled pitifully. "I know doll. Let's hope all we need to do is send HYDRA a little warning before we can go home and live our lives. Besides, look at it this way. Now, we won't have to hide from anyone."

Davina gave him a weak smile. "You should have seen Tony's face when we found out about Rebecca. He was so broken I didn't tell him." The girl spoke, distracting herself from all the HYDRA bullshit she should be worrying about right now.

Bucky tucked another loose curl behind her ear, allowing his mind to relax with her voice. He could sit there, listening to his doll talk for an eternity and would never get bored.

"-Clint wasn't sad though, he was more annoyed we didn't pronounce him godfather." Davina chuckled lightly.

Her gaze found her soldier's exhausted eyes, and her heart just about melted on the spot. "Maybe we should go to sleep." She whispered, placing a delicate kiss on his cheek.

He smiled at her, gratitude displayed across his face. The girl carefully removed herself from the comfort of his lap, turning off the light and returning to his warmth.

The pair lay in silence under the covers. The cool metal of Bucky Barnes arm lay over the bare skin of her stomach- just the way she liked it. His head was buried in the crook of her neck, already asleep.

Davina lay quietly, not wanting to suddenly stir and wake him. She reached over and turned on her phone, sending a short message to Natasha, signalling the okay to contact Yelena.

The girl didn't wait for a reply, instead she shut off her phone and began counting sheep until the darkness overcame her.
