Day Light (1) Re-Edited
Savannah's P.O.V
I wake up to the sound of Rayna giggling, pulling my hair with her tiny little hands "Momma"
I loved these mornings waking up next to my baby, worry-free, trust me I rarely get these days, only on the days off I get.
Let me give you a brief update on my life. After arriving in New York, I had to make ends meet with what little money I had. I rented a modest flat that was adequate for me and started looking for work right away. As a 20-year-old expecting girl, what work could I, of course, acquire as quickly as possible? I found a job as a waitress at a little coffee shop called "Night and Day." The owner, an elderly woman named Esther, was the sweetest; she hired me right away.
I moved into this busy metropolis slowly, found a better flat after six months, and eventually obtained a job at Day Light Industries, a prestigious firm run by Blake Emerson, an obnoxious old man who constantly had a stick up his ass but paid well. This is how I handled everything. Since Esther has been so kind as to watch Rayna, or Ray as we call her, while I'm at work, I continue to see her every day.
"Momma," I slowly open my eyes to see her lying on her stomach looking directly at me.
"Good Morning Ray."
The last two months of my pregnancy were horrible, constantly throwing up, and never getting rest she was a week and a half late, Esther was nice enough to let me stay with her during those months otherwise I don't know what would have happened to the both of us.
Poking me on the cheek she began to giggle waiting for me to tickle her, "Oh no you didn't." gently beginning to tickle her, her giggles filled the room, this is what I lived for, for her.
Finishing with our little morning playtime, we both get out of bed I change her diaper and give her a quick breakfast, all her teeth have come in so it's much easier to feed her while I prep up some coffee for me. While all this is happening I get a call from Esther "Good Morning Granny."
"Good Morning Sweetheart, how are you and Ray?"
"Good, just woke up getting some breakfast ready Granny. Do you need any help at Night and Day today?"
'No, Sanna you need to spend time with Ray. You work all week this is the only day you get with her. I will manage you take care of her."
"Okay, Bye Granny."
"Bye, take care." I know you must be wondering why I'm calling her Granny, she likes it, doesn't make her feel alone.
Anyway, that's what my life consists of Esther, Rayna, and work. I turn around to see Ray completely covered in her oatmeal "Ray..."
Cage's P.O.V
Two years ago, I moved to New York and since then, the underground activity has been hitting new highs meaning King could be coming out of his den anytime. We just have to wait for the right moment to arrest him.
In the past two years, my life hasn't changed much, still engaged to Dove, working for UMDA and still seeking out revenge. Jumping out of bed I look out to the amazing view I have from my apartment, not too far from the day I get to take King down and finally settle down with Dove.
Snapping me out of my thoughts my phone rings, "Good Morning Cage,"
"Morning Ellie, got any news for me?"
"Yes actually, there is a huge merger going on between Day Light Industries and King Industries underground tonight, the funny thing is no one is running the company right now since 25% of its shares are in charity because of Savannah and her mom. So who's running the other 75%?"
"Her father obviously, I heard that after Savannah left, he cleaned up and took control of everything," I said to her in a bored tone, walking towards my kitchen to make coffee.
"True, but Uncle Liam wants to you go check it out yourself in Daylight Industries, go make an offer from Levi Industries one they can't refuse. Hang around a bit, maybe there will be a tip of King being involved in it."
"Right will do,"
"Okay, I gotta go Annah's calling me."
Rolling my eyes at her, I scoff "Send me the details of what to present and how much."
"Okay bye.' Without even waiting for a response she cut the phone on me.
Even after two years, Savannah Miller is still in my life not physically but is mentioned around me so many times in a day it feels like she never left. I have no regret about what I did to her it was my job. Her punishment is over now it's her grandfather's turn.
