"I, Eclipsestar of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn." Eclipsestar's gaze raked through his gathered Clan until it rested on Flowerpaw. "Flowerpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Flowerpaw stepped forward, her black and white pelt bristling with excitement. "I do!" she squeaked, then instantly looked ashamed of herself.

A meow of amusement rippled through the crowd.

"Then by the powers ofStarClan, I give you your warrior name. Flowerpaw, from this moment you will be known as Flowerheart. StarClan honors your kindness and your bravery, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan."

"Flowerheart! Flowerheart!" I cheered. My sister turned to look at me gratefully as the Clan took up the call.

"Flowerheart! Flowerheart!"

Creekfall joined in, and murmured to me beside him, "You're next."

My heart seemed to burst with joy. Creekfall believed in me! I'm going to convince Mapletail I'm a good apprentice. Then she'll want to mentor me again. I thought determinedly.

Once the last cheers had died away, the clan began to pad to their dens. But Eclipsestar held up his tail as a signal for the to stop. "I have one more announcement!" he called.

I pricked my ears. What could it be? Am I getting my warrior name? Maybe Mapletail was just trying to surprise me! I thought, exchanging an excited glance with Creekfall.

"I told you you'd be next!" he whispered as the clan settled back down around the TallReed.

I nodded eagerly and stared up at my leader.

"As you all know, Flowerheart has a sister," Eclipsestar began.

Flowerheart's sister. His words echoed in my mind. Is that all I am? But my dismay was brushed away as I realized: I was right! This must be my warrior ceremony!

"Cloverpaw, please step forward."

I took a step forward, barely able to contain my excitement.

"From this day forward, this apprentice's mentor will be Mossleap. Do you promise to teach Cloverpaw all you know?" Eclipsestar asked, turning to the younger medicine cat.

Mossleap nodded. "I do."

Eclipsestar returned the nod. "Then by the powers of StarClan, you are now mentor to Cloverpaw."

Mossleap smiled and paddd forward, lowering her head to touch noses with her new apprentice-me.

I didn't move.

"Cloverpaw! Cloverpaw!" I heard my clanmates cheer.

When everyone headed to their nests, Flowerheart and Creekfall raced over.

"Clover! You didn't tell me you were going to be a medicine cat!" Flowerheart exclaimed, her tail curling. "I'm so pleased!"

I met Creekfall's gaze mutely.

He looked horrified.

Neither of us spoke. I tuned out Flowerheart's voice as she rambled on about how her assessment went, until finally, I said in a slow, dull voice, "I'm going to bed."

I turned and began to pad dlowly towards the apprentices' den, longing to curl up in my nest beside Flowerpaw-Flowerheart won't be sleeping in the apprentices' den anymore, I remember sadly.

As I reached the den entrance, Flowerheart cut me off. "What are you doing? You sleep in the medicine den now!" she exclaimed, ushering me to my new den.

I swallowed back a hiss of envy. And you sleep in the warriors.
