Chapter 11
"Why did we decide to part ways again? This place is huge!" Helene whispered to herself while crawling from a tiny hole she found. Well she didn't know where it led to but somewhere it goes. So simply why not?
"Damn the spiders!"
Her voice echoed through a corridor which made her freeze on the very exact spot.
" May I help you young lady?" She heard a familiar voice from behind her.
"Shit! This is a good time to have a potion to be invisible. You are a good actress Helene! Just dab your eyes and have a shy smile. okay!" She slowly turned around and bowed deeply. And didn't dare to show the man her face.
Long gone, the shy smile and furious dabbing. "I was looking for a restroom sire. It seems I have lost my way."
She slowly stood keeping her eyes down on the ground.
" Ah I see. The restroom you say, but the cobwebs tangled to your hair says otherwise m'lady?"
His slow strides towards her made Helene want to jump from a window. For emris's sake, who was she kidding? This place just had stone walls. He was merely a few inches from her and the next thing Helene knew was she was up against a wall, a man nearly choking her to death.
A man she thought was dead.
"Mylo!" She said while trying to grab the last breath she could possibly get.
" Tell me who you are? And how the hell do you know my name?!"
" Well I _ wou_ld be able...to t__alk if you let me fucking go!" Her eyes glowed silver white while Mylo blasted off to the nearest wall. Helene calmed her breath processing whatever shit was happening around her. She was breathing furiously.
The blast clearly had an impact on Mylo as he was clearly in pain. Those green eyes were the same. Last night events came crashing back to her. He was the one who danced with her. He was so near but she didn't notice. And worst of all he couldn't remember her. His eyes were the same but he was not. The brown wavy hair was now tied into a bun. Though Helene was not complaining about Mylo's new look she felt sad. He couldn't remember her. Mylo stood up to fight her. He took his sword out. Helene didn't want to fight . Not with her childhood best friend. Not with her love interest since she was little.
"I don't want to fight you!" Helene dodged his sword in a swift motion.
"Well when you crashed me to the wall! It said otherwise." She took out her sword, "You leave me no choice". She swung her sword, not to hurt but to defend. How could she after all, she loved him since the days of the academy. Flashbacks of their moments crept into her mind, she felt defeated.
After searching for you for all those years, this was not the welcome I imagined.
"Well at least you improved on your combat skills."
She said, trying to lower his guard.
Taunting usually does the trick... if you are still the Mylo I know...
Her words had truth to it. Mylo used to be weak when it came to combat, hell he was even bullied for it. But not the Mylo Helene was fighting with now. This Mylo had precision, he knew how to fight, his movements were swift and most of all he was confident. Confident in his skill.
"How do you know my name? Are you from here, Some sort of Stalker?" Mylo said, making distance between him and Helene. He was being cautious.
Guess the aura spark got him scared.
"Oh YOUR stalker! please... We went to the academy together, in Otos...Do you remember any of that?" She almost pleaded, it was no use he seemed more confused than he was before.
"Lies, Roden told me that I've never left Viltarin, born and raised here... Stop lying and speak the truth."
He plunged into Helene, but Helene was ready, she casted a shield stopping his attack.
"What, no... Mylo please, try to remember... it's me hell's." She looked up at Mylo.
Those eyes, it's him... it's his aura, his voice. It's truly him...
They held eye contact through the shield, Mylo had tears in his eyes. He seemed confused and lost. "I know you're scared, I am too... but please stop. Let's talk Mylo" just then Mylo fell into his knees exhausted. Helene put down her shield and cupped his face with her hands. "Don't you remember the stories you used to tell me... Mylo..." she desperately searched his eyes, looking for clues as to what had happened.
As she knelt down to heal him, bringing her forehead into his. She felt a sharp jab in her stomach. It was a needle. He had injected her with poison. Her body started to ache, her veins started to turn into green, blood slowly came out of her eyes. She was gasping for air, slowly calling out for Mylo.
"Shit... I'm sorry, he was still testing it. I didn't know; don't talk you'll lose energy. I'll find someone."
He fumbled through each word as he held Helene in his arms. Now even though her vision was getting blurry, she saw the Mylo she once knew. Caring, kind, her sweet Mylo was safe. She couldn't help but chuckle.
"Never the tough guy, were you darling?". Mylo who was still panicking left out a nervous chuckle. "Please refrain from talking, Stalker" he said.
Helene heard the guards closing in, everything was muffled. She heard Mylo shouting at a guard to get her proper treatment.
"King's order general, we must drag the trespassers to the throne room as fast as possible" she heard the guard's voice. She closed her eyes, and let all the background voices blend together. He was right this was not the time for a reunion, she used all of her mana and started healing herself. It didn't really do much, but kept her consciousness flowing.
I'm gonna make you remember me Mylo, Just you freaking wait!
Luna was held by two guards either side of her. She was struggling to get out of their hold as it was so frustrating to be held like that. "I vow to you that I won't run! Can you please let my hands go!"
She forcibly pushed the guards away and somehow both landed on their back, which ended up hurting her because of the newly given wound. She was in the king's throne room. The throne was made out of gold, two golden ravens with ruby eyes glistening on each side. The throne room was humongous showing of the wealth of the Kingdom Of Viltarin.
Luna was free from the guards hold but she still felt suffocated. The room was filled by Many courtsmen. Having too many eyes on her made her nearly vomit. It was too much to take in after the long journey and the fights she had been through. But she had to.. she had to be strong for Helene and also the princess.
Helene was still nowhere to be found. And the anxiety of not knowing happened to her incredibly scared Luna. Indeed Helene was a fierce fighter. But this place was new to them.
The doors to the throne room opened once again and a man came in first.
" His highness, the king Xavier the third Has arrived! All bow down to the king!"
A man in his late thirties came dressed in golden robes. He had a slender figure, his eyes were sunken into his skull. A untidy beard and a sinister smile.
"What do we have here!!" he said eyeing Luna, his laugh roared through the room.
The room went quiet as a young lad came striding down the hall. The face made Luna's blood run cold.
"Mylo!" Her friend was alive all this time. Well the next thing she saw teared up her eyes while her hands fisted into a ball. Helene was getting dragged by two guards like doormat. She was unconscious and her veins were slowly turning green. Without her knowing Luna's legs ran towards her cousin, screaming her name. The guards who stood by her side grabbed her in a swift motion but her struggle to go near Helene was far more powerful than their strength. Luna was freed once again while she ran towards Helene.
" GET.YOUR.FILTHY.HANDS.OFF OF HER!"
Her voice boomed through the walls as her eyes became pitch black. As mesmerizing it is, the gaze spoke nothing but death. As the two fearful guards left Helene on the marbled floor Luna sat by her side and kept Helene's head on her lap.
"Hells hey... hey it's your Lulu are you awake.... Wake up please... I'm right here can't you see ...you stupid girl why didn't you fight!" She caressed Helene's face slowly.
"Who did this?" No one dared to speak a word. Even the sound of the wind can be heard at this point. The almighty king was silently judging what was unveiling In Front him.
"I ASKED WHO DID THIS?" once again her eyes were dark as the night and her voice was much thicker.
"I did! I had to but I assure you, I did not know it would turn out like this, the drug was still on trial.. And I had to defend my city... I had to... "
Mylo spoke up , his voice trembling with guilt and regret as he saw how desperate and hurt Luna was . Although Luna couldn't understand why Mylo the person who was their friend since childhood, who they have yearned to be with, whose death they mourned for years, did this. She didn't care. If someone hurt her family they were only going to face her wrath.
" Oh you did! Out of everyone in Viltarin! YOU DID THIS!" She slowly kept Helene's head down on the cold floor. She couldn't bare the sight to see her like that. So vulnerable which she never had been. Luna stood up, signaling she was going to kill Mylo when she felt a hand grab her leg.
" No...d_ont. Please. He doe_snt remember u..s.." Helene couldn't even talk properly yet she chose to defend him. "Look what he has done to you Helene! And you expect me to forgive him!" Helene winced to Luna's booming voice. " Please." Helene was tearing up. The pain she was feeling physically and the worst of all the pain she was feeling emotionally. It was too much. Too much to bear.
