Luminous slumped a passed-out Vainglorious over her shoulder following Janus. She took a step up and found her foot connecting with something invisible in the sky. She continued walking up to it. Getting cocky she started sprinting up a little. That's when her foot caught actual air.

"Ahh!" Luminous screaked, balancing her one foot that was still connected with something.

"Careful, the pathway gets Slimer the farther up little duckling goes." Said Janus.

"Could have warned me, Janus!" Luminous called out.

Now careful to put one foot over the other. Until the invisible balance beam began to shake.

"What's happening!?"

"The bridge won't stay for long! Little duckling has to move!" Said Janus. "ditch the boy wizard, it's dead weight!"

" What! I'm not ditching Vainglorious!" Yelled Luminous.

"If Janus doesn't get duckling to Sly then Sly will-"

The invisible bridge gave a huge rumble. Luminous had only to blink and Janus who was right next to her was now more than ten feet away.

Running, she now near the sky. She couldn't see it at first from the ground, but It looked as if someone had punched a huge opening into a glass.

Running as fast as she could with Vainglorious slumped over her back Luminous could feel the invisible beam give away at her heels. She threw Vainglorious into the opening with all the force she could muster. The last of the beam gave out from under her, she leaped for the opening in the sky.

Tumbling thew she landed on the coffee-collared carpet. She didn't stop for a minute. The first thing she did was frantically look for Vainglorious. She looked from the brown couch to the small kitchen, with a sink filled with dishes, stepping on records and VCRs that littered the floor along with the pizza box that was filled with moldy pizza.

"Eww!" Squealed Luminous jumping back from the pizza box.

Her foot stepped on a remote.

"Breaking news!..."

The old box-like TV flickered to life and Luminous heard a man's voice.

"Hello! Is someone there?" Luminous ran to the TV kneeling next to it. "Hello! I need help, my friend he's-"

She stopped when she saw that the man had blonde hair just like she did. She reached her hands up to her head of hair. She had never seen anyone who looked like her before.

"..It's shocking! the world seems to be falling apart. We don't know if this is an attack. But the military has gone door to door evacuating citizens..."

"Wait, who are you?!" Luminous interrupted the news anchor. "Please, I need to know who you are!"

"... we go to Donna who has footage of this, Donna." He continued.

"Thanks, Frank." Said the blonde women co-host."What we're seeing seems unbelievable, but we just got back from physicist Dr. Hero says a ripple effect has started, in which another world is flowing into ours, Dr. Hero theorizes that this will start to change our time and space."

Luminous continued to watch the screen. In the next seance, the two blonde people had disappeared and had been replaced with footage of a world like she had never seen before.

Tall skyscrapers took up the city, and cars littered the asphalt streets abandoned. Guys in camo uniforms with guns were guiding a group of people down the asphalt streets. Some had backpacks but a lot of others had noughting with them but the clothes on their backs.

"It's not much longer until we get to the buses, lets go!" Said one of the camo-covered men.

That's when Luminous spotted it. A black sludge substance out of the corner of her eye. It fell from the sky landing on the camo guy who was talking earlier and a few other people. The people who weren't hit scattered the streets like rats. While the ones who were crumpled to the ground screaming and crying as the black goo melted their faces.

But the camo guy and a few other people around him weren't reacting at all. They were so still Luminous could have sworn the image was frozen if not for everything and everyone around them moving...

"Sly is waiting little duckling."

Luminous jolted from her trance and turned to see Janus by the small apartment door. She slumped the slowly breathing Vainglorious over her shoulder and followed him into the hallway. He stopped in front of a metal door that slid open on its own with a

DING~

Luminous stepped inside the small box looking for Sly. But the door slid shut and the box began moving?

"Janus?" Luminous grabbed onto the wall with her free hand.

The box was moving!

Her eyes scanned the walls to see if they were going to start closing in, or if there was a way to get out of the moving box.

"Janus!"

DING~

The movement stopped. The door slid open. Luminous stepped out into a huge lobby. Even with the huge furnished receptionist desk that sat in the center of white marble floors the lobby still felt vast.

She was so distracted that she almost missed Janus slink out the shattered glass doors.

"Hey! Wait!"

Luminous threw open the glass shattered doors to find a vast asphalt street filled with abandoned cars. The buildings were somewhat melted but were taller than the palace, maybe even taller than the sky. Luminous didn't even notice that she was leaning back to look up at them until she almost fell over.

Luminous stepped on a wooden boardwalk, the blue ocean swaying recklessly underneath. She walked past various funhouses and games. She saw a few rides, and even tried to follow the loops on one of the coasters with her eyes.

"Just inside the curtain now little duckling." Said Janus holding the purple curtain open with his tail.

Luminous stepped inside the curtain and immediately jumped at the movement beside her. But when she turned it was only her and Vainglorious' reflection in the mirror.

It was a wonder how she made it this far. There were bags under her eyes, her shoulder-length blonde hair disheveled and sticking up in some places, her pink PJ shirt with the chickens on it now hung baggy around her fair skin.

The room full of mirrors was disorienting. Each step Luminous kept thudding into mirrors that surrounded her. She finally decided that the best way to get through the room was to follow behind Janus very closely. Stoping at a dark part of the room.

The lights flipped on so suddenly she covered her face. When she opened her eyes again she realized that she was in a round room surrounded by mirrors, even on the ceiling.

"Why hello Luminous. How nice of you to join us."

In the center of the room was Sly. He sat on a throne, his pink eyes narrowing in on her. His sharp tooth smirk stretched from pointed fox ear to pointed fox ear. But Luminous only paid attention to what sat propped up against the throne.

"I don't know what you're up to dang nabbit! But I know it's not good you dirty halfling cad!"

"Dawn of Fate!" Luminous nearly screeched reaching for the huge vermilion sword.

"Tut tut, Luminous." Sly smacked away the girl's hands. "Naughty girl. You know it's not polite to grab things."

"But Janus said you would give it back and heal Vainglorious if I came to you willingly!" Luminous clutched her fist.

"Oh did he now?" Sly's eyes peered at Janus, and the snake froze shaking.

"Oh, Sly Janus didn't mean...Janus-"

"Shut up Janus," Sly said curtly. "I didn't mean I would heal Vainglorious personally. I mean you would..."

Sly got up from the throne. His jagged fingered hand wrapped around the navy blue hilt of the Dawn of Fate. Swinging the sword over his slender shoulder, he stepped forward.

"...and I could show you how if you let me." Sly came up behind Luminous pressing a hand on her shoulder.

"What do I have to do?" Asked Luminous.

"It's simple really. He's fighting his corruption. But you, my dear Luminous have the power to control corruption."

"I do?"

"It's not true! You can't trust this cad!" Yelled the Dawn of Fate.

"But then, what am I supposed to do?"

"You don't! You can't do anything for him now!"

Luminous looked at Vainglorious' small still body. When he began twitching.

"Vainglorious?"

"Ghana!"

Vainglorious' arm began turning dark, he clawed the mirror on the ground. Leaving a huge mark.

"Vainglorious!"

"I mean it's up to you." Smirked Sly. "But if you ask me he doesn't have much longer."

"Okay, what do I have to do!"

"Tut tut. How rude. I have a few questions of my own first, you know."

Luminous bit her lip, looking at the corruption climbing up Vainglorious' arm to his neck.

"How's that pocket watch I gave you?" Continued Sly. "Did you get here on time or did you cheat?"

"I got here on time!" Luminous rushed out.

Sly looked at Luminous' small button nose, but it grew longer.

"Oh, and you sure you didn't cheat by setting back the time?"

Luminous kept her eyes fixed on Vainglorious. His grey eyes becoming yellow.

"I didn't!"

Her nose grew longer. Sly's pink eye twitched. His smirk turned into a dark grimace.

"Alright then, I'll show you how." Sly's smirk was back on his face. He leaned over her putting the Dawn of Fate back in her hands. "Repeat after me. Luminescent dawns turn to light-"

"No don't do it! It's not worth it!" Yelled the Dawn of Fate. "It's a trap!"

Luminous looked from the sword now in her hands to the corrupting Vainglorious and frowned.

"Luminescent dawns turn to light," Luminous repeated.

"When the darkest dark turns the dusk to night." Continued Sly.

As soon as Luminous started the next verse Vainglorious' darkness started to fade.

"I now disrupt this cycle with all my might, the darkness in you turns to flight. So that the light within me picks up the fight, turning that brightness into night."

The darkness completely went away. Vainglorious' completion looked as if he was never sickly in the first place. His gray eyes opened.

"Vainglorious!."Luminous smiled.

But Vainglorious' eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost.

"Luminous!"

In the next instant, Luminous felt a bunch of strings tugs on her.

"Dang nabbit! You idiot!" Yelled the Dawn of Fate.

Luminous couldn't control her limbs no matter how hard she tried. She just kept walking over to Sly. In the next instant Sly had wrapped his long slender arm around her shoulder pulling her in so close she could feel his heartbeat.

"Let her go, you cad!" Yelled the Dawn of Fate.

Vainglorious stood up, wand pointed right at Sly. His stone-cold eyes glared at the tall slender half fox man. Normally people wouldn't be able to pick up on this. But he saw that there were fine wires wrapped around Sly's finger going thew Luminous.

"Ha ha ha." Laughed Sly. "Now why would I do that? I get to collect a heart that's been promised to me, and as you know cheating and lying is forfeit!"

"You like bets right Sly?" Said Vainglorious reaching a hand out towards him. "How about we make a deal?"

"Is knowing who made the Dawn of Fate that important to you? Or are you actually fighting for Luminous now?" Teased Sly. "The crow king has plans for her."

Vainglorious gritted his teeth. Sly smirk.

"But I don't see why We can't have a little fun first."

Sly leaned into Luminous pressing his tongue to her cheek licking her porcelain face from her chin up to her eye.
