Kim's POV:

I shifted from one foot to another in impatience. David, my crush and best friend, was due out of school at any minute and I always got impatient when it came close to the time when I would get to see him.

With a sigh, I sat down on a bench under a tree and set my chin in my hand. The doors to the school opened and I perked up instantly, only to see my cousin, Madison, walking out. No David to be seen anywhere. I immediately deflated and again returned to my sullen state.

Madison looked over at me and then walked over to me.

"Kim, what's up with you?" She asked as she set her books down and sat down beside me. I looked over at her.

"Nothing. Just waiting on David as usual." She nodded and leaned back, obviously deciding to wait with me.

"Okay." She replied, sighed contently and taking in the lovely winter afternoon. I was completely oblivious to it all as I watched the doors, willing them to open and they didn't.

She looked over at me and watched me for a moment.

"What's with your fascination with those doors?" I snapped out of my staring contest and looked at her.

"Nothing." I said. She rolled her eyes.

"Look, I know when something's up with you. This has something to do with David doesn't it?" She poked me in the arm. "Don't deny it!" I sighed and dropped my head into my hands.

"Yeah, it does." Her eyes lit up and she grinned like the cat who ate the canary.

"Tell!" She demanded a little too loudly for my tastes. I quickly hushed her a little.

"Hush! We can't be loud." She nodded quickly and I took a deep breath. "Okay, I have a crush on David." I admitted with a blush. "And, I can't wait to see him the moment he gets out."

Madison's eyes widened. I wasn't sure what she had been expecting but she seemed surprised.

"You have a crush on David?" I nodded. She burst out laughing.

"Wow! You sure do pick the ones you can't have! It's absolutely ridiculous!" She was doubled over laughing and I felt like crying. It was every fear I had ever had being spoken out loud.

"You're saying that just because you're jealous!" I shouted as I stood up and took a few steps away from her. "You're jealous of me because I'm closer to him than you are! You're jealous because I help him compose his music and write his songs!" I walked backwards for a moment, looking at her. Her face was still red from laughing but she wasn't laughing anymore.

My eyes misted with tears and I turned from her and ran away. But, before I could get very far, I heard David shouting,

"Kim! Wait!" I stopped running and turned to look at him. He ran up to me and smiled at me. I looked up at him and I forgot everything around me.

"Kim..." He whispered as he lifted a finger and lightly stroked my cheek. My heart raced and I could feel my breathing turning to quiet gasps. My brown eyes met his blue eyes and then he whispered,

"I have a crush on you too." I just starting grinning like an absolute idiot.

"You do?" I asked, my cheeks beginning to hurt from all my grinning. He nodded.

"I do." He smiled at me and I started giggling for no reason whatsoever. A moment later though, I was silenced as he kissed him.

Our lips connected and my eyes closed as I melted into him, my dreams all coming true with that one action. He pulled away gently and smiled at me. Then, I heart applause. I looked around and blushed brightly as I saw most of the school was gathered around us, clapping and cheering wildly.

I blushed and grinned at the same time. David wrapped his arms around me, mine going around him on impulse and he kissed me again.
