Chapter 20: I Can't Think of a Title
Just like yesterday, Four carries me into the building. I lay my head against his chest as he walks casually through the halls. There are laughs and giggles everywhere as we walk to my locker.
I try to hop down to get in my locker, but Four holds me up.
"Come on, I have to get my books."
"Nope, grab them and then put them on top of you." He chuckles.
I bite my lip, "Whatever weirdo."
I open my locker and grab my books, and then Four closes the door with my feet, and we walk over to his and Christina's lockers. Shauna and Zeke spot us first, and laugh, making everyone else look our way.
Christina smiles, "You two are just... my couple goals."
I snort, "We aren't a couple Chrissy!"
She smirks, "Soon, my little Tris, soon."
We talk as normal, until the warning bell for first period rings. Just like yesterday, Four and I walk in like nothing unusual is happening. He sets me down in my chair and sits beside me. Molly leans over to my ear, "You should keep that to yourself!" She sneers.
I roll my eyes, "It's called friendship, you should try it out sometime!"
She groans, leaning back to her own chair. Lauren comes in, and sits in front of me. "Hey, can I talk to you before lunch?"
"Yeah, sure, any reason why?"
She smiles a little, "Just a little something I have to tell you."
I lean back, "Absolutely."
Mr. Martin walks in, looking like he is in a bad mood. "Good morning class. Today, I am assigning partners for our chapter project."
Christina and I look at each other, from across Four. Why did he have to be in the way?
"Don't think about going with your best friend, I already picked your partners."
The whole class groans, as if it's routine. He starts writing names on the board.
Four-Christina
Peter-Nita
Eric-Cara
Will-Marlene
Tris-Lauren
I look at Lauren, smiling, "At least I didn't get Peter."
She snorts, then covers her mouth. I bite my tongue to keep from laughing.
"Alright class, the project will be picking one world religion or community from one of the lessons in our chapter, creating a powerpoint with the guidelines on your rubric, and creating one item or food from that religion that is important. They will be presented at the end of this unit, and you have the whole three weeks to work on it."
Well, this isn't as bad as our last English project. We all pair up and sit around the room, and Lauren and I go into some bean bags in the corner. Once we actually start talking about the project, I get more excited. We are going to do hellenism, which is greeks gods and goddesses. Then we are going to do a few different greek recipes.
When the bell rings, Lauren and I walk to Miss. Matthews class together. Four just trails behind me, instead of carrying me. We get to Calc, and sit near the back.
"Man, you guys are like best friends now." Four mumbles.
I pull his chair closer, catching him off guard, "Oh, does poor number boy feel left out?"
He chuckles pulling me closer, "Always. But I am more distracted with Christina and I's project."
I shimmy my shoulders, "What are you guys doing?"
"Just like Buddhism I think? I don't know, we didn't talk about the actual project much."
Knowing Christina, she probably forced him to talk about the latest sales at Faction Fashion or something.
"Students!" Miss. Matthews' voice booms from the front of the room, "Move your chairs back to your own desks, and pay attention!"
There is a low rustling rhythm and we all move back to our desks. I didn't realize how far Four had pulled me over to him!
"Alright, as a matter of fact, I was feeling extra nice today. Since we just had a test yesterday, I will let you have somewhat of a free day."
We all holler, cheering.
"However," The whole class groans, "There are rules. No leaving the classroom, unless for the restroom or water, and no screaming, flirting, or messing with my desk. No screeching music from your phones, or mouths for that matter, and finally, NO kissing!"
The second she sits at her desk, we erupt in conversation, moving around the room. In this class, I have Uriah, Shauna, Lynn, Four and Lauren, so we all drag chairs to a corner, and Uriah lays on the floor in the middle of us.
"Uricorn what is wrong with you?" I ask, nudging him with my foot.
He smiles, "I was a gift from God, there is nothing wrong with me."
"That's a stretch." Lynn mumbles.
Four chuckles, giving her a fist bump.
"So...what are we doing?" Lauren asks, picking at her nail.
I shrug, "I can go get the candy from my locker."
"I'll grab it!" Four says. He jumps up from his chair, over Uriah, and out the door.
"Where is he going?" Miss. Matthews grumbles, pushing her glasses down.
"To get something." I respond in a 'duh' tone.
She gives me a warning glare, and turns back to her papers.
"So, Tris, when do you think Four is going to ask you out?" Lauren says.
I almost choke on my own spit, "Wha-Why?"
She shrugs, "You already know he liked you, aren't you just waiting for it?"
I throw my head back, "I don't know, and I don't care."
Lynn leans forward, "Tris, I don't even like that gushy gushy stuff, but like, he is going to ask you. And it's not like it's not obvious you like him too."
I try to stop my cheeks from blushing, "I never said that."
"You like him!" Literally all four of the others scream.
I pull my knees to my chest and hide my face, "Whatever."
I mean, they could be right, do I like Four?
Here is a great filler chapter for ya'll, but I got some good stuff planned. Mwa. ha. ha.
