Chapter 9- Revealing a Secret
"THERE ARE NO SECRETS THAT TIME DOES NOT REVEAL." -Jean Racine
ONYX GRUMBLED TO herself as she was smacked in the back of the head with yet another ball of parchment. She was receiving Black's "revenge" so to speak, for her mud ball, so she had to endure the torture of Black being a complete prat.
Oh, wait! That was his normal state of being.
Suddenly, though an idea sparked in her head so she ducked her head down and closed her eyes listening carefully.
When she heard the next whoosh of the paper ball she shifted left and watched as the ball hit Marlene McKinnon in the back of the head.
As the brown haired girl whipped her head around and narrowed her eyes at the white-haired girl questioningly Onyx simply mouthed, "Black."
Instantly Marlene's gaze flicked to Black and if looks could kill he'd be miles underground.
Onyx chuckled lowly before focusing her attention back to the vertically challenged Charms teacher.

"Happy Halloween!" Jasmine yelled at everyone in the classroom as the teacher finally dismissed everyone.
Suddenly muggle candies began raining down from the ceiling causing half the students to abandon all pretenses of dignity and leap for the sweet treats.
Onyx simply chuckled lightly at the classes candy-craze and her friend's antics as they walked out of class together to get ready to finish the mountain of homework they had received that day, but not before Onyx had snagged several Mars Bars out of the air
"Was that really necessary?" Onyx asked Jasmine amusedly.
"Every bit," Jasmine replied extremely happy with herself.
"C'mon Jaz!" Onyx yelled at her black haired friend as they ran down the hallways. They had just finished their homework but if they didn't hurry they would be late for the Halloween feast.
They made it to the Great Hall with no seconds to spare and quickly slid into seats at the end of the Gryffindor table right as Professor Dumbledore finished his speech.
Quickly, gleaming silver plates heaped high with every food imaginable coated the table. Shepherds pie, dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, spotted dick, soufflé, and every kind of main course one could think of.
Jasmine and Onyx reached over the tables quickly loading their plates up with food. While they ate they began to talk about their families.
Jasmine's mother was a nice lady who went by Alexa, and her father was a rich businessman but also a werewolf. She had an older brother called Bryde. He was a fourth year in Hufflepuff. She also had a younger sister, Sophia, who would be starting in two years time.
Then it was Onyx's turn. She glanced up at her Uncle silently asking permission to tell her.
His barely imperceptible nod of the chin was enough to let Onyx know it was alright.
She began to speak her voice taking on a fearful tone, "Jasmine, I need you to hear me out. I'll offer you proof at the end if you don't believe me but until then please don't interrupt me until I'm done."
Jasmine just nodded and then proceeded to stuff forkful of quiche in her mouth.
A bolt of fear leaped through Onyx, but she sensed she would feel better after she let her secret escape. Just once.
She began, "There's really no simple way to put this but essentially all the dragons gather up at one of the poles every ten thousand years. Every time this gathering ends they walk away with one more to their number. Except this one extra is human."
Jasmine's eyes widened. She had a pretty good idea where this was going. Onyx didn't stop. It felt like as she kept talking a deadly poison was being extracted from her body.
"However this time they didn't walk away with the human. Instead, Headmaster Dumbledore came and got her."
Jasmine's jaw dropped. It couldn't be. Onyx rushed onward. Only a little bit of toxin was left.
"That girl was me."
The two girls sat together in silence as they continued to eat their food. One was silent from pure shock. The other was silent because she was waiting for the other to speak first.
With the tension between the two growing with each passing second Jasmine finally ended up getting too uncomfortable, "Not that I don't believe you, news like this is a lot to handle after all, but would you mind showing me this 'proof' once we get back to the dorms?"
Onyx simply gave her a nod and the two stood up striding towards the door. To all who looked at them from behind it appeared as if they were twins, identical billowing cloaks, same crimson uniform, same gold and scarlet tie. The only thing different was one had white hair one had black.
Jasmine threw open the door to the dorm. She sat down on her bed waiting expectantly for Onyx to begin. Onyx moved respectively to her own bed and sat down cross-legged.
Jasmine looked on at her friends serene and unearthly beautiful face. Onyx's hair was draped over her shoulders so not one speck of white fell in her eyes and the girl's long cloak lay stretched out behind her.
Suddenly the air began to get heavier and a fine silver mist began to appear above Onyx's head. The mist rushed together condensing. Then with a whoosh, a glittering silver dragon, thin and wiry, whipped to life above her head.
The dragon unfurled its wings and opened its maw letting out a silent roar.
Jasmine let out a small sound sounding like an oh.
Concentration lost the water splashed down onto Onyx's head. Reaching up a hand the white-haired girl pinned her sopping hair back against her head.
Then she asked sarcastically, "Believe me now?"
